Connecting the modem to a computer or laptop. We create an Internet connection via a USB modem Set up a computer for a modem

There are many types currently in use various devices. The methods for entering their settings are also different.

A significant number of devices are configured by connecting to a computer with a patch cord or via a wireless connection, and a large army uses equipment connected via USB.

The device is always supplied with a printed or electronic manual, which describes how to enter the control panel of a particular device.

But in the case when this instruction is missing, then you can use the universal guide presented below.

Modem personal account

The term "login to the modem" means opening the control panel menu of the device, in which you enter and configure network parameters, protection systems, connect additional equipment, etc.

The following names are also very often used to refer to it:

  1. web interface;
  2. web configurator;
  3. settings;
  4. browser (site or page) of the modem;
  5. parameter input menu;
  6. modem personal account.

Sometimes, for the convenience of users, with equipment connected via Wi-Fi or a special “Internet cable” to a PC for settings, there is a complete CD disk, with which you can quickly enter the parameters and step-by-step support by the wizard of the entire procedure for entering parameters.

Most often, the address of the network device "192.168.1.1" is used to enter. The following manufacturers prescribe such an IP for their devices by default:

  1. Zyxel Keenetic,
  2. Asus;
  3. upvel;
  4. TP-Link;
  5. Lincsys;
  6. Sagemcom;
  7. Cisco.

Other hardware manufacturers often use the IP "192.168.0.1". These include D-Link and Netgear.

The numbers or symbols may differ, but the principle of actions for opening the web configurator is almost the same.

For devices connected via the USB port, the procedure for launching the interface is even easier, since usually, after inserting into the PC connector, the driver installation starts automatically and the quick setup program opens.

As a rule, USB modems from telecom operators, for example, MTS, Megafon, Beeline, are already flashed with all the network parameters of the provider, and the user is only required to enter the original security code by inventing.

Starting procedure

device control panel

As part of the components, along with the device, there is usually everything you need to set up the operation of the device.

If this involves connecting to a computer with a patch cord (Ethernet cable), then one end should be inserted into the LAN socket of the device, and the other into the PC network card (of course, manufacturers also provide a Wi-Fi connection for further settings, but it is recommended log in to the modem's web configurator via a wired connection, as this will avoid many problems when updating software and entering network characteristics).

It should be noted that in order to enter the web interface, connecting to world wide web no need. Next, you need to insert the cord from the power adapter into the appropriate socket in the device, often “Power” is written under it.

Supply power to the device and turn it on, if it has a button for this. In the case when the device is not equipped with an on/off button, it will start immediately after the adapter is inserted into the power outlet.

The LAN LED on the front of the device will turn on and the PC will display the connection.

After making wired connections, you will need to perform the following steps while sitting at your computer:

Design personal account The developers have different devices, but basically they are Russified and reference information is provided.

For example, if the device is provided by the Rostelecom provider, then the menu will be made in the company's colors.

Sometimes the specified authorization parameters on the device labels may not work. This means that they were previously adjusted.

In order for the name and password set by the manufacturer to take effect again, you will have to reset the settings.

To this end, find the “Reset” key on the device case and, pressing it, hold it for about ten seconds. The machine will restart and the initial parameters for entering the interface will be in effect again.

Version

Let's give a specific example of entering the Promsvyaz M-200A modem for the subsequent Internet setup from ByFly.

After connecting it to the PC according to the method above, open the browser and type "192.168.1.1". After clicking on "Enter", the authorization menu will be displayed, where in the columns of the name and code indicate "admin".

Then click "Login".

An interface will immediately appear where you can already start entering the parameters prescribed in the contract with the provider.

How to open modem settings from a mobile operator?

Among users who prefer an active lifestyle and are often away, modems with SIM cards from cellular providers are especially popular: MTS, Beeline, Megafon, etc.

These compact devices look about the same, in the form of a plastic box the size of a mobile phone. The most common models from companies from China are Huawei and ZTE.

As a rule, their minimal external equipment includes a USB connector, a status indicator light and an on/off button.

The principle of entering their control window is approximately the same. After connecting to the computer's USB port, the driver is installed, and then a new connection is displayed in the network connections.

Usually, all settings have already been saved by the provider and the distribution of the Internet begins immediately, but if desired, finer tuning is allowed. Externally, the menu of web configurators will be different for all companies, but the essence of the login procedure is the same.

You need to launch an Internet browser and type "192.168.1.1" or another, which is written in the instructions for the device. After the user clicks "Enter", a menu will appear asking for a code and a name (they are written in the documentation that comes with the device).

Specific implementation example

Consider the login procedure for the Yota Many mobile modem. To get into the interface, you can use a connection to a computer via USB or Wi-Fi.

It does not matter what type of connection is selected by the owner of the device, drivers are installed automatically immediately after connection.

After waiting for the process to complete, you need to open an Internet browser and when you try to connect to any node, the router settings menu will immediately appear.

This means that the modem has been successfully logged in and you can start entering network parameters.

Installation is simple - after 2-3 minutes after connecting the modem to the USB port of the computer, the installation program starts automatically. But if in Windows settings autorun is disabled, then the installation will have to be started manually. Most of the modems that are provided by cellular operators are composite devices - in addition to the modem, they also contain a flash disk with drivers. This drive is defined in the system as a USB-CD drive:

You need to open the modem disk through "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer" and run the "AutoRun.exe" file on it. The picture shows the MTS modem disk. For Beeline and Megafon modems, the label and the disk image will be different, but the installer works on the same principle.

Note .

The installation file may not be called AutoRun.exe, but for example setup.exe. You can specify the name of the installation file by looking at the contents of the autorun.inf file.

Modems provided by the Skylink operator usually do not have an internal disk and the driver must be installed from a regular CD or downloaded via the Internet.

During installation, you do not need to disconnect (pull out of the connector) the modem. First, the program will be installed, then, after it, the modem drivers will be automatically installed. In total, the process will take a few minutes.

After installing the drivers, you can connect to the Internet. To do this, you need to run the program (MTS Connect, Beeline Internet Home, Megafon Mobile Partner), wait until the program detects the modem and click the "Connect" button.

Details of setting up USB modems

If in the place where you are using a 3G USB modem, mobile operator there is support for 3G standards (UMTS / HSDPA) you can make sure that the modem always connects to the network via 3G protocols. By default, the modem chooses the type of connection itself, and it can be a connection in GPRS - EDGE mode with a lower speed. To connect only in 3G mode, you need to set the appropriate option:

But the reverse may also be the case. There is no support for 3G standards, or in this mode the signal is very weak and the modem does not work well. In this case, you can try setting the "GSM only" option:

You may run into another problem. The latest modem models support a virtual network card and, accordingly, when connecting to the Internet, the connection is established through this virtual network card. But on some computers, this connection method may fail. The symptoms are as follows - when connected, everything stops at the stage of obtaining an IP address by the network card, it cannot receive it. You can get around this problem by setting the traditional "RAS" connection method in the settings (as a modem, not as a network card):

Connection "directly"

Note

For Beeline modems, this method may not work. The fact is that Beeline modems have firmware installed, which is modified to work only through the Beeline Internet Home program. At least that was the case in the beginning, when 3G modems only appeared at Beeline.

You can connect to the Internet without using MTS Connect, Beeline Internet Home, Megafon Mobile Partner, Windows tools.

To do this, you need to create a new Dial-Up connection, when setting it up, specify the dial-up number *99# name and password (mts / mts, beeline / beeline, for a megaphone without a password name). If there are several modems in the system, after creating this connection, you need to make sure that it is associated with the USB modem:

In addition, you need to specify an initialization string for the modem. Open "Device Manager" and find the modem in it:

Open the modem properties (right mouse button) and enter the initialization string there.

Hello, dear readers of the site site. Today we will analyze the actual topic for those who access the Internet from 3G modems. Sometimes this "thing" exhausts so many nerves that after an hour of connections and attempts to "catch" the Internet, you no longer want anything. Therefore, for those who feel sorry for their nerves, setting up a 3G modem is relevant.

3G coverage is not ideal everywhere, especially in regional centers it can be very ill. Our task is to increase the quality of reception, since it is precisely a bad signal basically prevents you from getting the maximum bandwidth. There are many different ways to increase the speed of a 3G modem. Some "kulibins" say that with a few manipulations it is possible to amplify the 3g signal by almost half. I didn't believe it at first, but I tried a few of them myself and you know... they really helped me.

Port speed setting

Well, let's start .... To strengthen the 3g modem, you first need to configure port speed through which, in fact, the Internet data is received, and for this, right-click on the shortcut "My computer" and open tab "Equipment"(or "Control"), then "Device Manager".

We find after that the tab "Ports"(COM or LPT), press the plus sign and in the menu expanded in front of us select "Serial Port"(if there are several ports to do the manipulation with each for reliability), right-click on the port and in the menu that appears, select the option "Properties".

A separate window appears and then go to the tab "Port Settings" and after that "Speed"(bps). The default value is 9600 bps, which is equal to 1200 kbps (that is, the port will not miss more than this speed!!!). Set 115200 and press OK.

Bandwidth setting

That's it, we configured the port speed, after that, logically, the maximum possible speed of the 3G modem should increase. Further according to our plan channel bandwidth setting. We go to the menu "Start", then "Run", enter into command line and press OK.

Next you need to choose "Computer Configuration", "Administrative Templates", press the plus sign and in the expanded menu we select "Net" click on the plus sign and select again in the expanded menu "QoS Packet Manager", click twice, "limit bandwidth".

Then you need to open a window on the tab "Parameter", tick "Included". In the window "Bandwidth limitation capabilities"(%) set to 0. It always defaults to 20. So, after that we press "Apply" and then press ok.

- For Windows 7

start-find programs and files-write . Opening the file: Local Group Policy Editor. Policy Local Computer-Computer Configuration-Administrative Templates-Network-QoS Packet Scheduler. Choose a tab "Limit reserved bandwidth", open it, in the window that appears, select the "Enabled" tab, and set "0%" a little lower. Click Apply-OK.

We’ll finish the computer settings on this, there are of course other ways to improve 3g, from making changes to the registry to manually specifying parameters in files that, frankly, I don’t dare to change.

Setting up a 3g modem directly

Let's take Megaphone and the HUAWEI E352 modem as an example. Buying a 3g antenna (if the modem has a connector for external antenna) can boost 3g modem signal or solve the problem of low signal quality, but not everyone can afford it, and sometimes it's simple and useless.

In addition, if you have "all stripes" on the modem antenna, and the speed "jumps" or is generally low, then most likely nothing will help you any 3g modem amplifier, since the bandwidth of your line (tower) is limited and is divided into ALL users currently online.

If you sit on the Internet at night and you have few "competitors", then your Internet will simply "fly". If there are a lot of people online in the evening, then your speed will be low, there's nothing to be done and no 3g modem settings will help.

We make a 3g modem amplifier with our own hands

But if you still have problems with the antenna strips, then you can do the "Kulibinskaya" amplifier for a 3g modem yourself.

  1. We take cheap Chinese speakers, plug them into a power outlet and put them next to the USB modem - this should increase signal reception by 30%.
  2. We take a copper wire, wrap it in 5-6 circles where the SIM card is located. We bring the wire into the window.
  3. At the end of the wire, you can wind (or leave it like that) a 1 liter beer can, after cutting off the lid with scissors.
  4. We place the jar with the cut side where the signal is better caught - a kind of locator.

Another way is to attach any DVD to the modem, which will also play the role of a signal concentrator. In this way, you can significantly enhance the signal of the 3g modem.

We eliminate the reason for disconnecting (resetting) the modem

The reason for this is the lack of USB power ports. motherboard. This usually happens when a USB extension cable is used to connect a 3g modem. That is, part of the power goes into the USB cable, respectively, the device turns off spontaneously at the most unexpected moments.

That's why it is advisable not to use a USB extension cable(although it improves the signal) or look for a socket with a higher voltage, as well as a quality cable. The last two points are really working, and not for red words. In my 2 slots, the modem constantly flew out, and in the 3rd it worked properly. Cable quality REALLY affects performance - do not press on the expensive wire.

Another interesting program for a 3G modem (I chose from many) is MDMA. It shows where your modem catches the best. Install a plugin for this program - Entropy, it shows the signal level in large numbers and duplicates it with a voice if necessary. The smaller the negative number (-55dBi), the better the connection to the tower. Walk around the room with a laptop, or carry a modem on a cable, and look for the best reception area.

Why does the Internet speed jump in a 3g modem

Surely everyone knows about the unstable pings of the 3g network. They jump from 700 to 1000 and above + to all this, the modem sometimes disconnects from the network (not because there is not enough USB power, but for a simple reason, which I will describe below).

Many do not know or even guess why this happens. Especially ordinary users of USB 3g modems.

So, what is really happening and why 3g is either slow or very fast. When connecting, everyone noticed that the modem connects in 3g mode, but during operation it suddenly switches to EDGE (2g) or worse - completely throws it out of the network.

Blame it all automatic search for a stable signal- here the modem jumps either to WCDMA, or to HSPA, or even to EDGE.

Example: EDGE signal 96%, WCDMA signal 90%, HSPA signal 50%-60%. That is, the modem automatically selects the mode in which the signal is caught NOT faster, but most stably and confidently. Naturally, from these three examples, the modem will work in EDGE mode.

3g modem operation at maximum speed ( HSPA Locker)

Next, I'll tell you how to set up a 3g Megafon and make the modem work only in the fastest mode - HSPA.
We open our utility Megafon-Internet (we will consider the example of the Megafon operator). Click Settings, Further Net, we see:

  • Network Type- here we select only WCDMA(or only 3G)
    Range(if any) - set GSM900/GSM1800/WCDMA900/WCDMA2100
    Registration Mode- manual search, click update, wait, then select MegaFon (3G) - click on it and click registration.

And in general, in case of communication problems, use manual search more often - it will show whether there is 3g at all at the moment or not.
Close the settings window, connect to the Internet.

Now we need one small program for setting up a 3g modem - it's called HSPA Locker 1.3b (I use it). We download it. Unpack, install, run, but do not press START.

Where the slider is located, set a maximum of 3.0 kb. Now we begin to intensively upload something or “pump” the Internet in another way (you can turn on any video online).

As soon as we see that the signal in the Megafon 3g modem has become not WCDMA, but HSPA (or HSDPA or 3G is the same thing) or the speed has accelerated to the maximum possible, press the START button in the HSPA Locker program.

After we turn it to tray and turn off what was put on the download. We admire the results: in the Megafon-Internet program, the connection always shows HSPA, that is, high speed.

And finally, one more feature: for a reason unknown to me, when the modem speed drops, after pulling out the SIM card from the modem and after that, inserting the SIM card, reconnect - the speed will be much better! Maybe the provider gives priority as soon as the user enters, or for another reason, I don’t know, but the reboot really speeds up the Internet for a while - check for yourself.

The Beeline operator boasts a good speed of access to mobile internet. It is not surprising that it attracts many subscribers who need high-speed access to the network. In order to ensure a stable Internet connection, we need to configure the Beeline modem so that its control program contains the correct settings.

Special attention should be paid to the location of the modem- this will increase the stability of signal reception. In this review, we will consider several questions - how to enter manual settings profile, how to install software and drivers, how to get the highest possible access speed. We will also publish a list of parameters for the Beeline Internet profile.

When buying a modem from Beeline at the operator's office, you should immediately ask the consultant to connect one of the Highway tariff options, which provide up to 20 GB of traffic during the day and unlimited access at night. After signing the contract and making all the necessary payments, we go home and start connecting to the Internet.

In order to set up the Beeline modem on a laptop, you need to turn on the laptop and wait for it to fully load operating system. After that, we connect the Beeline modem to the laptop in one of the free USB ports - the driver installation will begin, and after a few minutes, we will find a new optical disk in the system. Don't be scared - it's completely normal. If autorun does not work, go to the disk that appears and run the Autorun.exe file there.

Next, the installation will begin control program. We agree with the license agreement, make sure the installation path is correct, after which the automatic installation of the device will begin. During the installation process, there will be a pause - the installation of the drivers of the modem itself will begin, and in the system tray (where the clock is ticking and the icons of some running programs hang), notifications about the drivers and devices being installed will begin to appear. After a couple of minutes, the installation of the control program and drivers will be completed, and we can start connecting to the Internet.

Software setup

During the installation of the control program, it will contain the Internet profile settings for accessing the Beeline network. If we go to the program settings, we will see the following parameters there:

  • Profile name - Beeline Internet;
  • Access point - internet.beeline.ru;
  • Dialing number - *99#;
  • Login and password - beeline.

If necessary, we can create profiles here for other SIM cards(provided that the purchased modem has been subjected to the unlock procedure).

If after installing the control program you did not find an active profile, you can create it yourself by specifying the parameters published above.

Setting up for maximum speed

Internet barely crawling? Does the indicator indicate that the modem is constantly switching to low-speed 2G networks? Then let's overclock the modem to maximum speed. Considering the principles of operation cellular networks, then we find out that mobile devices always connects to base stations with the strongest signal. Even if WCDMA priority is set in the modem settings, if there is a strong signal from 2G networks, the device will constantly switch to low-speed networks.

In order to overclock the modem to the maximum, you need to disconnect from the Internet and go to the settings of the control program. Here we check the box "WCDMA only" (or "WCDMA and LTE only" for modems supporting 4G networks). After that, we wait for the modem to register in a high-speed network and click on the connect button - the speed will become noticeably higher! By the way, to improve the effect, try to install the modem closer to the window - there the signal strength may be higher.

Also, the speed of access to the network is influenced by signal amplifiers and outdoor antennas. They can be purchased at many communication stores and online stores.

Turn on the modem and restart your computer. At the subsequent Windows startup will give you a window...

Turn on the modem and restart your computer. The next time you start Windows, you will get a window: A new device has been found.

Windows will try to determine for itself which modem is connected to your computer. You can specify the type of your modem yourself by selecting it from the list that will be offered to you if you check the box Do not detect modem type (select from list). I recommend setting this flag if the list of devices is empty when pointing to the inf file.

If the modem is not detected by Windows, then you may have errors in the ports.

Follow the instructions in the modem installer.

After the modem is installed, go to "Control Panel - Modems". Find just now installed modem highlight it with the mouse cursor and click properties.

Set the maximum speed menu for 28.8 and 33.6 kbps modems to 57600, for 56 kbps modems to 115200, and for ISDN modems to 115200 or higher (high-speed serial port adapters must also suggest values 230400 and 460800). If the modem does not respond at this speed, then you need to set the speed a little less. If even now the modem does not respond, then either you have a modem without correction / compression, or you did not connect it to the network ... :))

Go to the "Establish a connection" tab and in the "cancel a call if there is no connection" menu, specify a time of 45 seconds. This is enough time to establish a connection.

Close the buffer settings window and go to "Advanced". Here, check the boxes: Error handling, connection stage, data compression. Data transfer control - hardware. If you have a WIN modem, then the control is software.

This completes the modem setup.

After the system finally installs the modem and finishes setting the parameters required for dial-up connection, it will be necessary to make the necessary network settings.

Necessary network settings

Go to "Control Panel" and click on the "Network" icon. Go to the "Configuration" tab. Then click on the "Add" button and select "Network card" from the list of components that appears.

Select "Microsoft" from the list and "Remote Access Controller" from the available components.

The installer will access the Windows distribution disk from which it will copy and install the necessary files.

The network card is installed. Now click the "Add" button again and select "Protocol". In the new window, search for "Microsoft" and "TCP/IP Protocol".

The installer will again access the Windows distribution disk. When you install TCP/IP, you need to set the necessary protocol parameters. In the network window that appears, place the cursor on the TCP/IP protocol and click the Properties button. On the "Wins Configuration" tab, select "Disable Wins Configuration". In the "DNS Configuration" tab, select "Disable DNS Configuration". On the Advanced tab, check the box next to "Use this protocol" by default.

The network and protocol configuration is now complete.

If you have an Adsl modem or a USB modem, you can install it and connect to the Internet.
Next, we will figure out in order what is required to connect and how the modem is connected to the computer.

We decide what kind of modem we need

Everyone knows that the Internet contains mountains of information, that it is dangerous there, there are a lot of viruses, but when everyone already communicates in classmates, VKontakte, use the search and the rest also want to connect to the Internet.
Buying a modem is usually only the beginning of solving the problem, since the modem needs to be installed and, as a rule, at this stage it turns out that there is no network card and you need to buy it or the modem was bought along with a new computer, but no one provides such services and you need to buy.

A modem is a device for connecting to the Internet via a telephone line.
In the modern world, high-frequency signals are used according to different protocols, for example, 3G, 4G, ADSL2. Many people have a problem, which one to buy and how to install a modem. Ask your ISP for advice. Find out only supported standards.

Most used modems.
Modems in their pure form are few now. More often there are combined solutions with the presence of modem functions.
USB modem looks like this:

This is what an ADSL modem looks like from the side.

It has signal indicators and simple action buttons on the front. Behind - cables for connection.

The modem is usually connected to the computer via USB port or LAN network port. Separately, the connection goes to the power source (to the socket). A splitter is used to connect to the phone.

There are two connectors on the front. Behind this splitter there is a separate third input or cable. It is needed to separate the signals of the phone and the Internet. Internet speed is no more than 8 Mbps.
When choosing a modem, be guided by its advanced features. The more of them, the better. Prices for modems are quite optimal, there are different price categories. Especially pay attention to the ability to keep the connection in the event of a short-term failure. You can find out from the reviews of those who worked with the modem. Take more modern modems, for example, D-Link, it holds the network more tightly than TP-Link.

Separately, consider another way - connecting via Dial up modem.
This is the old method of using the Internet, when there were no local networks, no large providers, and the price for the Internet could terrify even wealthy state-level companies. This is the dial-up protocol. Most often it was supplied in the form of a board. Older computers did not have a slot for such cards, they were supplied with an external modem that looked and connected much like the current ADSL.

Once installed, one wrong move led to thousands of international bills. Installing and using such a modem can come in handy in a village where there is no other Internet, or when the main provider has failed, and visit the website oh well. The speed of such an Internet depends on the modem, approximately 56Kbps.

Installing the modem

1. USB modem.
1.1. Let's start by opening the package of the modem, disassemble it and insert the SIM card.

1.2. Connect the modem to the port Computer USB or laptop.

1.3. We are waiting automatic installation drivers.

1.4. Install the connection manager and check the settings.

1.5. Activate the balance, and then click the "Connect" button

2. ADSL modem.
2.1. We connect the modem to a computer or laptop.
The modem is connected to the appropriate port, as mentioned above: USB or LAN.
The internal modem plugs into the PCI slot like any other computer board.
Users of dandy consoles will surely cope with the installation, because the installation processes of the cartridge and the internal modem are very similar.

2.2. Next, the cables are connected to a tape recorder or telephone jack with multiple outlets.
The phone itself, the cable from the modem are connected to the connectors.
A big disadvantage of modems installed inside the computer is the possibility of computer burnout due to high voltage in the telephone network.
Perhaps these are rumors, but after several computers with such modems had breakdowns, I can no longer advise the option with an integrated modem board, but only an external modem.

Equipment setup.
For better control, we put the drivers on the modem from the disk. Access to the modem is determined by the network settings and the settings of the modem itself. First, you need to set the computer to determine the default addresses.

2.3. We go to "Start - Control Panel" - turn on the category view - in the "Network and Internet" section we find "View network status" - there "Change adapter settings" (left column) - find the desired adapter - right-click and "Properties". Now we find the Internet Protocol 4 (aka TCP / IP 4). Click Properties and set automatic detection.

If you do not have a disk step by step setup, then you can go into the modem itself. This is done in the browser by entering the address 192.168.1.1.

2.4. You will get approximately the following settings.

Tabs with parameters are visible at the top and side. Now it remains only to configure the ip-address, subnet mask, DNS server.
Information about these data and other auxiliary settings can be taken from the provider.
The settings of different modems should not differ. As a last resort, read the manuals. It was in this way that modems were configured with us. It remains only to right-click on the icon in the tray and select Connect.

3. To set up Dial up we reach the View network status (see the instructions above), then at the bottom of the window, click Set up a new connection.
3.1. In the new window, select Set up a telephone connection, click next, then enter the number, username and password. This data is taken from the telephone company.
3.2. Now it remains to go to Network connections(see the settings instructions Changing adapter settings), find the desired adapter (this will be a connection, it will be written By telephone line), right-click, Connect, OK.

In the figure, it remains to connect the cable and click Connect.

Operation and possible malfunctions

After connecting, you can safely use the Internet. If there is no Internet, then check the settings. It is impossible to give specific advice here, since there are so many providers, so many individual settings, there are many ways to install a modem. As a last resort, call the master and remember everything he did. If the reason for the lack of Internet is line failures, then restart the modem. When using Dial up, monitor all actions, control traffic, do not visit dubious sites.

Modems may have malfunctions that allow you to connect to the network and download information, and many users are surprised - the Internet light is red all the time, and the download is in progress.
There are malfunctions on the part of the provider - when the light is on red and there is no connection. You can check by asking your friends or neighbors whether the Internet works for them, call the support service, connect the modem of your friends.
I hope that all your problems lie in the fact that you did not know how to install the modem or you just need to wait and conclude a contract for the provision of services.

In Russia, the Internet appeared relatively recently, but now we can say with confidence that it is used by the entire population of a multinational country. In order to work with this network, you will have to purchase a special device that will allow you to freely enter the global "space". At the moment, ADSL has become the most well-known technology. It allows you to use the telephone line for both calls and the Internet itself at the same time. How is it carried out this division? By splitter. It is available in any modem operating on this technology. Before each user of the network at least once, but the question became: how to choose the necessary device and not miscalculate? Providers and equipment manufacturers offer completely different modems. From the simplest to the most sophisticated, capable of creating a wireless network. The article discusses the most successful ADSL modems.

Acorp Sprinter W510N

More recently, this model has appeared on the market. She received the functions of a router, a switch. Moreover, the device is capable of working with a wireless network.
