NOT A BAD HOTEL.
Today it’s been two weeks since we returned and I also decided to write, after reading the reviews of the people with whom we vacationed in this hotel. Well, let’s begin. The flight from Pegasus Tourist went without any delays in departure, with the traditional glass of water at 2 a.m. We arrived at 5 a.m. Here As always, everything was smooth with the transfer and at 7 am we were at the hotel door. It was nice that a hotel employee was waiting for us, who provided us with bracelets and escorted us to our room. At 7.15 we were already sitting on the balcony of the room waiting for breakfast. A small thing, but nice .Now about the hotel itself. The Russian language is difficult here, everything is in English. This is our fourth time in Crete and we weren’t going to expect miracles from a 3-star hotel. As for the food, I can say that everything is delicious, no frills, homemade. You won’t be hungry or dissatisfied You’ll stay. Believe me, there’s something to compare with. The hotel area is small, but there’s a little shanty nearby where Euro-youth go wild at night, not just disturbing, but actually preventing them from sleeping. But this is not the hotel’s problem, but the neighbors’ problem. In short, the hotel is not bad, BUT with some problems.1 .there is no trash can in the room, there is a basket with the toilet, but it is for hygienic purposes. 2. Wi-Fi is free and fast, but during the days of our stay it periodically went out of order for half a day or more. But if you sit at the bar you can connect to the Shalman’s Wi-Fi which is nearby, for some reason they didn’t disconnect it. 3. All inclusive in the bar. The first time we met this. During the day you can have beer, ouzo and brandy (of questionable quality, but simply cheap), and vodka and gin are allowed only from 21 to 23. And is this all included? We are people without pretensions, but this is too much, so we bought normal metax in the store and drank it on the balcony. At the end of the vacation, we decided to try what they pour from 21 to 23. We took gin tonic and didn’t even finish it. To taste, our canned gin and tonic is of the lowest quality for alconauts. In short, it’s not all-inclusive, it’s junk. 4. Paid air conditioning. In such a hot climate and 6 euros per day! The hotel is located so that there is no wind here and therefore the rooms are not ventilated. True, our craftsmen from Russia still turned it on without payment, as it’s a secret and I won’t reveal it... It’s noticeable that this year they have an influx of tourists from Russia and we have once again encountered Russian mmm how to say rednecks ...They pick up sausage, cheese, fruit and take it with them...And when they pour water from vending machines into their own bottles, it’s a total disgrace. A 9-liter package of water costs 2 euros, but for some it’s expensive...Russians are ashamed of you , that’s why they treat us so badly everywhere... The town of Malia is small and there’s nothing special to see there. There is a church, and behind it the old city, there is where to take a photo and so on... But if you leave the hotel and go left, then after 3 km there will be the Mali Palace, this is similar to the Palace of Knossos, but under a canopy and much cheaper. For impressions and the photo will do. By the way, on the way to this palace you will see banana plantations, which revealed to us the secret of why bananas are sold everywhere in Malia. They just grow there. We visited the city of Hersonissos, it turned out to be a city with a central street full of shops, a lot of SPAR stores with good prices for olive oil and olives. Yes, we came to Malia this year just to visit the monastery of Kera Kardiotissa. There is a truly miraculous icon there, we were convinced of this after visiting there two years ago. This year we decided to get there ourselves, not by taking an excursion, but taxi. Parking near the church. For 50 euros, in a cool white Mercedes, accompanied by the taxi driver’s songs, we rushed there along steep mountain roads, visited the monastery, lit candles and bought an icon of Kera for home. While we were doing all this, the taxi driver was waiting for us. On the way back, we stopped at knife factory and bought another awesome Cretan knife, we already bought it there two years ago and surprisingly it hasn’t become dull in two years. I recommend it. Now about the sea. It’s 1.5 km away, but after a couple of days it’s already nonsense... To the beach It’s better to walk to the cemetery and to the left, through the palm alley. Umbrellas and sunbeds are paid. 8 euros. But this is the case everywhere here. You can, of course, lie on the sand on a strip by the sea, but there is little space there and our tourists quickly take up everything there. By the way, not far from opposite the beach there is an island with a white church and many people swim there. We also swam there on our own. It’s 150 meters, but it’s worth it. Firstly, the view of Malia from there is impressive, secondly, you can dive into the sea from the pier, and thirdly, it’s just nice that you did this... But you just need to sail in a calm... Well, that’s all. I recommend the hotel, despite its shortcomings, for the money you can’t find a better one.

Dear travelers, we are perplexed, where does this hotel get such high ratings and rave reviews?
Our detailed story about our stay in Creta Verano 3* in mid-June 2016
We arrived in the morning and were met at the reception by a young man named Manos. Unsmiling, taciturn, but anything can happen. He gave us the WiFi password, room key and TV remote control. His younger brother (he’s probably 8 years old) accompanied us to our room. The hotel consists of several mini-buildings. First you need to go down the stairs from the main building, then go up the stairs in another building (depending on the floor, we lived on the second). We are two miniature girls, we had 11 kg suitcases with us. And no one (no one!) helped us with our suitcases. They reported it themselves, they managed it, but the first impression was already spoiled. The room was clean, smelled of bleach (which means it was well disinfected), light cosmetic repairs, two double beds put together. There is a dressing table between the wall and the bed. Squeezing between the bed and the dressing table is not very convenient, but this is a minor thing. The room has a balcony. 2 towels per person (although there should be three, but we didn’t care). Bath: The shower is surrounded by two glass partitions, there is no third partition, which is why water flows all over the floor of the bath; after a shower, you always had to wipe the floor. Very thoughtless.
Food. Delicious, homemade, but the choice is small. We are not so demanding tourists, but we would like something more. 4 hot dishes, always Greek lard, chopped vegetables and some very mayonnaise salad. There were fruits for lunch and dinner - mostly watermelon, less often melon, sometimes you could pick out a couple of cherries. The desserts were to die for, we were delighted with them!
A large, dark-haired woman was cleaning the dining room. Once, when after dinner we wanted to go into the dining room again to get ice cream, she did not let us in, speaking in a rather impolite manner. Apparently you are not allowed to enter twice. Nightmare. The same woman another time, in the same rude manner, kicked us out of the dining room when we were delayed for a minute. Why she allows herself to communicate with the guests in such a manner remains a mystery to us.
The hotel positions itself as "all inclusive", but this is not true at all! During breaks between breakfast, lunch and dinner, all-inclusive hotels should provide snacks and constant access to water. This was not the case here. When we asked for water at the bar, we were sent to buy water at the store. There were no snacks. One evening we were sitting at the bar and drinking tea (by the way, the bartender is a wonderful person, very welcoming and kind, he always tried to help with everything); when we were about to leave, the hotel owner (a plump dark-haired man) approached the bartender and asked if we had paid for the tea, we had to pay 4 euros. For tea! This is despite the fact that tea, coffee, wine, beer, vodka and tequila were free drinks! The bartender assured him that everything was fine, but we were shocked. Such a pigish attitude!
We took two excursions with an early breakfast. They asked me to wake him up by phone. Not once in two days did they call or wake me up. Early breakfast included a selection of cereals and ice-cold milk. It’s good that at least there was access to tea.
Cleaning. The first two days were cleaned thoroughly. We planned to look at the cleaning in general and on the 4th day we would start leaving tips. But it was not there. From the third day the cleaning of the room became poor. The towels were not changed until they began to throw them on the floor, the floor began to be wiped poorly, and the bed linen was changed only once in the entire week.
From the hotel it’s a kilometer walk to the sea, at a moderate pace it’s about 20-25 minutes, we timed it. For us, that's the thing, we wanted to walk a lot.
Nearby there is a supermarket, a bank, in general the town of Malia is small, you can quickly get to any point.
What struck us most at the hotel was the unfriendly attitude described above. At the same time, when choosing a hotel, we studied each review in detail and counted on a “family atmosphere.”
Before leaving, our tour operator sent information to the hotel about what time the bus would pick us up. We were not given any information; we called the tour operator ourselves.
Disappointed.
We don't recommend it.
