Connecting a network game. How to play together in "minecraft" on a local network or via the Internet. Creating a server for Minecraft

The game has long introduced the ability to create a local server in your own world, while everyone who is on your same network will be able to connect to your server. In general, everything is simple, but there are many limitations, everything is described in detail in this article. Select the desired type of setting from the contents and follow the steps described.

Setting up a server when you are on the same Wi-Fi or Lan network with another player

If several computers are not far from each other and are on the same network: Wi-Fi or Lan (connected via cable), then this setting will suit you.

Windows: On the computer where the server will be opened, open Start and enter in the search cmd, open this program:

In the window that opens, enter ipconfig, press enter. We are looking for your local IP, which starts with 192.168.*.* , in the example it is 192.168.1.47 (you will have a different one!), copy it.

macOS: To find the local IP, open the Terminal (Terminal), you can enter this program in the Mac search and find it, in the window we enter ifconfig |grep and look for an IP that starts with 192.168.*.* , copy it.

version with TL icon

We go into our world and into the menu Pauses (Esc) click 31790 (you will have a different one).

Now on another computer, which should connect to your server, you must also open the version with the TL icon (plus, the version of the game must be the same as the first computer), go to Multiplayer (Multiplayer), open .

Now we enter in the IP address + port that we received earlier, in the example this is 192.168.1.47:31790

Setting up a server when playing online with another player using Hamachi

If physically you cannot be on the same network with another player, the computers are far from each other, then you can create a special network using the Internet using Hamachi.

On both computers, do the following: Create a Hamachi account and download their program (after clicking on the link, the Download button is in the center).

Now we open TLauncher and select the version with the TL icon and start the game (It is also better to log in under the account). If you select without the TL icon, you will not be able to connect to the server without a Mojang license.

We go into our world and into the menu Pauses (Esc) click Open to Lan (Open to the network), a message will appear in the chat about the successful opening of the server, as well as the server port, in the example it is 60000 (you will have a different one).

On another computer click "Connect to an existing network", enter the network name and password created earlier. If the connection is successful, your friend's computer will be visible in the Hamachi window.

Then you also need to open the version with the TL icon (plus, the version of the game must be the same with the first computer), go to Multiplayer (Multiplayer), open Direct connect.

Now we enter in the IP address from Hamachi (the computer where the server is open) + the port that we received earlier, in the example it is 25.1.80.229:60000 . If everything is OK, then there will be a connection to the server! You can now play on a server with a friend.

Setting up a local Minecraft server with mods

Once you have configured the server to play on the same WiFi (Lan) network or Hamachi, you can install mods and play them with your friends. The instruction is very simple.

We install exactly the same mods on all clients so that everything is identical, plus the version of Forge itself must be the same, for example, ForgeOptiFine 1.12.2. Don't forget that the version should be with the TL icon!

Now we create and connect to the server exactly according to the same instructions above, depending on your network. Done, you can play with mods in Minecraft!

To play any game on a local network, you must first configure this same network. In this article, we will tell you how you can set up a local network in various operating systems, as well as between them.

In order to combine 2 computers in the same room into a local network, apart from 1 RJ-45 cable, nothing else is needed, we connect 2 computers with a wire and set up the network.

Consider several connection options:

  • Setting up and connecting 2 or more computers to a local network on OC Windows XP
  • Setting up and connecting 2 or more computers to a local network on OC Windows Vista
  • Setting up and connecting 2 or more computers to a local network on OC Windows 7
  • Setting up and connecting 2 or more computers to a local network between OC Windows XP and Windows 7
  • Setting up and connecting 2 or more computers to a local network on OC Windows 8.x
  • Setting up and connecting 2 or more computers to a local network on OC Windows 10

There can be from 2 to 254 computers in the local network, I think this is enough to play with friends :) The network address should not start with 127.*.*.*, because. reserved for testing and not available for use. Otherwise, you can use any IP addresses, but we recommend that you start your addresses with 192.168.1.1, as this is the standard for small local networks.

To connect more than 2 computers to the network, then you will need one of the options:

1. Additional input for a network card. (apartment, office)

2. Use "switch". (apartment, office, entrance)

3. Use a router. (apartment, office, entrance, house, street)

A little more about each option:

1. Not everyone can insert another network card into the computer, there must still be room for it in the system unit, and if you connect laptops, then the option is a failure.

2. A switch is an additional device with which you can connect a different number of computers to the network, depending on the switch model, usually from 4 to 48. You can use a scheme of several switches, connecting them in series, thereby increasing the number of computers on the network.

3. Router or (router). The ability to network computers both wired and wireless, depending on the model of the router. A big plus of this device is that it needs to be configured only 1 time, and computers are connected to it, and the router will distribute the settings to all computers on the network automatically, regardless of the installed operating system.

It seems that everyone plays on the network, you go to the server and play for yourself. But what to do if you don’t feel like running in a single, and with just anyone - too. That would be with friends, or at least with one. But for this you need to make your own server. You can also run around the local area, if there are two or three of us. In general, there are options. From the moment the multiplayer feature appeared in Minecraft, basically, this is how people played. It was then that full-fledged servers began to be created. In addition, not all servers can be accessed if the game is not purchased. Moreover, if you officially have to pay for the client part of the game, then the server part is initially freely available, that is, if the machine pulls, and even better, if there is a separate computer where you can put the server, then you can run a full-fledged "adult" server for free, and without breaking any laws. In order to play Minecraft online for free, and without registration, you will have to make your own server. Here are some solutions.

How to play online in Minecraft. Creating a local network

The local network will be convenient if we want to play with one or two friends. The more people we are going to let into our games, the further we move away from the local network, and the closer we get to a full-fledged server. You can create a local network:

  • Physically, having two computers in the same room or building, a network cable between them, Wi-fi or through a router.
  • Programmatically, and computers can then be located in different cities, countries, and so on ... Such a local network is created using VPN, tunneling and other terrible things. For our purposes, there is a rather convenient program - Hamachi, which manages the tunnels on its own. The main thing is that all participants have the same version of Hamachi.

Physical LAN

For it, you need to establish a connection between computers bypassing the Internet. If both of your computers have the same source of Internet access (the same Wi-Fi network, cable connection to the same router, etc.), then there is a high probability that they are already physically on the same local network, or within one "network node". In this case, additional configuration, most often, is not needed, the same router is responsible for distributing IP addresses. In case two computers are connected directly to each other, it may be necessary to manually configure the IP addresses.

After that, you can start Minecraft, create a network game, and start playing. Players will simply need to find a server on the local network. The only negative is the high load on the distributing computer or mobile device. Yes, having the appropriate versions of Minecraft, you can play both through a smartphone and a tablet, only the server takes up a lot of resources. To solve this problem, it is better to assign a computer that is not participating in the game as a server.

Logical LAN

Let's figure out step by step what you need to do to play minecraft online through hamachi. For this:

  1. First of all, you need to download Hamachi. Link to the official site.
  2. After downloading the same version on all computers, install it.
  3. On one of the computers, preferably the one that will be the Minecraft server, we create a connection in Hamachi. Enter the network name and password to connect to the network of other participants.
  4. On other computers, you can now connect to the created network by entering the appropriate name and password.
  5. Now that the connection is established, you can run Minecraft on the main computer and create a world. After creation, open the world for the network. We remember the port that will be specified in the chat when opening the world over the network.
  6. Participants, having launched Minecraft, copy the IP address of the main computer (IPV4 - it is easy to copy it in Hamachi), select “direct connection” to the server in Minecraft and insert this IP into the “Server Address” field, and after it, without spaces “:” and port number. After that, they click the "Connect" button and get to the server.

Creating a server for Minecraft

If you want 5-10 people to participate in the game, then it will be more convenient to make a normal server already.

In order to do it, you need

  1. First, download the server part from the site https://minecraft.net/ru/download/server.
  2. The downloaded file is placed in a separate folder, which will also be the root of the server directory. We run the file and let the files necessary for the server to unpack.
  3. The server is ready to go. For its settings, you will need to make changes to the file server.properties. It has a lot of parameters, but first of all it will be useful game mode, which allows you to set the default game mode, white-list, which will allow access only to certain players, and max-build-height, first of all - to limit the load on the server .

It is worth noting that the files that are in progress are subject to change, and the changes you make take effect only after the server is restarted. Therefore, it would be more correct to edit the server settings when it is turned off.

How to play online in Minecraft. Connecting to your server in Minecraft

If we still want to connect to our server from the same computer on which it is running, then we need to launch the Minecraft client, and when connecting to the server, specify localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the IP. The default port is usually 25565.

To connect to your server via the Internet, it is better to have a static IP on it, otherwise you will have to enter a new address almost every time you reconnect. To determine the IP address of the server (where to connect something?), The easiest way is to use an online service, such as http://2ip.ru. “Your computer name”, consisting of four series of numbers, is your IP address. The port for Minecraft is still the same - 25565.

If the server connects to the Internet indirectly, through a router, router, then this port may be closed on the router. In this case, the best solution is to open or "forward" this port on the router. Opening a port on a router requires access to it through its web interface, and sometimes downloading additional software.

In the simplest case, you can enter the web interface of the router using the settings indicated on its case. The IP address can change, and when you enter the web interface itself, the combination of login: admin and password: password almost always works.

Depending on the router model, its firmware version, the “forwarding” function may be called NAT or Port Forwarding. Having found the corresponding menu item, you should fill in the fields of the start and end ports with the desired value (in our case, 25565), and in the IP address field, specify the address of the computer that we use as a server. Ports are configured for TCP and UDP protocols. After such an operation, the server must be available to users via the Internet.

In order for a server with high attendance to work stably, it must be administered, but this is a separate issue. Stable servers are usually made not on Windows, but on Linux, and this operating system has many of its own features. In addition, additional mods and scripts will be required to maintain public interest. All this will take time and effort, and it will take more than one article to describe the administration process itself.

Video how to play Minecraft online on smartphones and tablets:

This guy did it, and you can too.

To make sure whether it’s realistic to play Minecraft with a friend via Hamachi over the network, I specifically downloaded the demo version of the game from the official website and tried to play it myself. It turned out to be very simple, the setup did not take much time, I prepared an instruction, following all the steps of which you can play Minecraft through Hamachi (or rather, through the virtual local area network that the program creates).

Step 1

Launch Hamachi (you can download the latest version of the program) and create a new virtual network. To do this, run the program and click on the " Turn on».

Click on the button " Create a new network» or select this item from the top menu.

Come up with a network ID (it must be unique) and a password (remember it!), and click " Create».

Step 2

Launch the Minecraft launcher and click the " Play". Shown in the demo:

In the game, press the " ESC" and click on the button " Open for web».

In the next window, click on " Open the world to the web».

After that, information will appear that the local server is running on the port " number such and such". Write down the port number, if you don’t do this, you won’t be able to play Minecraft through Hamachi with a friend (he will need the port number when connecting).

Step 3

Now your friend should connect to you. He needs to launch Hamachi (register in it if he has not done so before), click on the button " Turn on»

and select from the menu Net» - « Connect to an existing network».

In the window that opens, he needs to enter your network ID and password from it (tell him this data).

After he connects, he needs to copy your IP address from the Hamachi window. To do this, you need to right-click on your login and select " Copy IPv4 address».

After that, to see the copied IP address, paste it into any text editor.

Step 4

Now everything is ready to play Minecraft on Hamachi. Your friend needs to launch the game and connect to you. To do this, through the menu, let him go to " Online game» - « Direct connection” and enter the copied IP address and the port, separated by a colon, that was shown in the launcher when creating the local server (instructions). The entry must be in the format IP:port.
