Screenshot of the entire page. How to take a screenshot of a long page. When you need a screenshot of an entire page, which method to choose: online or offline

Take a screenshot screen very easy with the keyboard commands available by default. But if you want to take a screenshot whole page in the browser, and not just the visible area of the screen, then you need special tools and a few extra clicks.

There are at least 4 ways to take a screenshot of an entire web page:

Zoom out the page and use the default keys

This quick method is only suitable if the page only slightly extends beyond the visible area of the screen. Zoom out the page until it fits completely on the screen, then take a screenshot using the default commands:

  • Windows: press a keyPrint Screen (PrtScr or PrintScrn). The screenshot will be saved to the clipboard. To insert this image into a file, use any graphic editor.
  • Mac : Use the keyboard shortcut Cmd-Shift-3. By default, the screenshot will be saved as a PNG file on your desktop.

Screenshot programs

You can install one of the special programs for taking screenshots on your computer. For example, I have tried Snagit by Techsmith (for both Windows and Mac), FastStone Capture (the program is only available for Windows) and Paparazzi (Mac only). When choosing, you should pay attention that some of these programs are not free. Share links in the comments if you know other similar apps.

Online Screenshot Tools

If you don't want to install anything on your computer, you can use one of these web tools to take a screenshot of the entire page right in your browser: Snapito, Screenshot Machine or Web-capture.net . All of them are arranged in a similar way: just paste the URL of the desired page into the appropriate field on the service page.

Browser extensions

This is my favorite way to take screenshots of pages. No need to switch to another tab or launch a separate application - fewer clicks!

We have released a new book, "Social Media Content Marketing: How to get into the head of subscribers and make them fall in love with your brand."

Sometimes it becomes necessary to upload the appearance of a site page to a graphic file. An exact snapshot of a web page also has other names: webshot, thumbshot, screen. It is worth noting that rarely does a site fit on the screen without scrolling down. If we use the Printscreen key or add-ons like Joxi or LightShot, we get the opportunity to "remove" the visible part of the screen without scrolling.

In this case, the bottom of the page is "cropped".

Is it possible to take a screenshot of the entire page of the site online so that it fits entirely on the screen? Let's figure it out.

There are online services on the Internet that help solve the problem. Installation of additional software or browser extensions is not required. Services make a thumbnail of a web page that can be saved.

The principle of operation of each service is as follows: the user copies the URL of the desired web page, pastes it into a special field, sets the parameters and starts processing. As a result, the service issues a link to the resulting image, which is stored for some time on the server. The user can download it to his PC. Consider a few online services.

Snapito

By clicking the "gear" button, you select the settings (size, image storage period, etc.), the Snap button starts processing. You can also save the screenshot as a PDF. The result of the service is a link to the resulting image.

web capture

Works in Russian. The picture can be converted to any of the proposed formats. Enter the URL, select the format, click "Generate".

You can then download the snapshot as a ZIP or expanded file.

IMGonline

Allows you to receive a webshot in JPG or PNG formats. Enter the web page address, configure the settings, and click OK.

Then open the resulting webshot or download it.

S-shot

Works on the same principle.

Another option for the web service to work is to create a screen by copying the link circled in a red rectangle in our example, replacing the site address from the example with your URL.

Screenshot machine

Another free option.

After taking the snapshot, click Download and save the thumbnail to your PC.

ScreenPage

Mozilla Firefox

In the Mozilla Internet browser, you can create and save webshots with a standard tool. Simultaneously press Ctrl + Shift + I. You will see the toolbar. In its right part, click on the gear. Select the available buttons and activate "Take a screenshot of the entire page". The camera icon will appear in the browser. You need to open the desired web page, click on the photo icon and enter the download folder, where the screen has already been automatically recorded.

Browser extensions

These are Joxi, Qsnap, Lightshot and others. The corresponding software is installed on the computer. Then, holding down the CTRL button and scrolling the mouse wheel, we reduce the page until it completely fits on the screen. Click the appropriate button for each plugin. For example, for Joxi, this is a bird in the upper right corner of the browser.

We select the necessary area of the screen for the screen, take a picture and download the result.

How to make a quick screenshot

Is it possible to take screenshots without installing various programs and without contacting third-party websites? Suddenly you don't have internet?

Having reduced the web page to the optimal size, you must press the PrtScrn key (top right on the keyboard) or Shift + PrtScrn. The page will be copied to the clipboard. Then you need to open any graphic editor, create a new file and select the "Insert" function.

And what about phones?

Modern gadgets are the same computers, only slightly reduced. They can also take screenshots. To create a snapshot, key combinations are used that correspond to each model and type of operating system.

  • iOS - Hold the Power button and the Home button. The webshot will be saved in the Photos folder.
  • Android 1, 2 - a special application is installed that allows you to take webshots.
  • Android 3.2 - hold down the "Recent Programs" button for a while.
  • Android 4 - Press "Volume Down" and "Power" at the same time.
  • Samsung under Android and HTC under Android - "Home" and "Power" hold at the same time.

A screenshot of a full web page can be done in a number of ways. Moreover, many plugins allow you to process the resulting image - insert text, select blocks, draw arrows and other geometric shapes. good luck

In one of my posts, I wrote about the Google Chrome plugin for creating and editing screenshots. It provides a lot of tools for image processing. But, as you know, more functionality consumes more computer resources. What if all these tools are not needed and the user has only one specific task: for example, take a screenshot of the entire website page Or any particular part of it? It makes no sense to install a heavy extension in Google Chrome, especially on a weak PC.

There is an optimal option:

FireShot - quick creation of screenshots (screenshots)

fireshot(stripped version) - a plugin that will allow Quickly take a screenshot of a website page in the Google Chrome browser.

Plugin Installation

The plugin can be installed from the Chrome online store by clicking on the link:

On the page that opens, click "+ free" and confirm the new extension.

After that, in the upper right corner of the browser you will be notified about the successful installation of FireShot.

Clicking on the extension icon will open a menu.

There are 3 options available:

Grab the whole page – screenshot of the entire page, including scrolling.

Capture visible area- a screenshot of only the area that you see at the moment, without scrolling.

Capture the region – screenshot of the selected part of the screen.

Note that the corresponding key combination is displayed to the right of each option. As you can see, they are very uncomfortable. 4 buttons is too many. Therefore, you should go to the settings and register your hot keys, which will be convenient for you. The main thing is that they do not coincide with the standard Google Chrome hotkeys, in order to avoid conflict.

Also in the settings you can choose one of two default screenshot formats: JPG and PNG.

As I already mentioned, this is a stripped-down version that provides only minimal functionality. There is a link on the screenshot saving page, by clicking on which you can upgrade to the PRO version, which has much more features.

Today I invite you to consider a very interesting task - how to take a long screenshot from the Android screen. This refers to the creation of a screenshot with scrolling the screen. The task is non-trivial and especially typical for capturing web pages that scroll across multiple screens.

It is impossible to take such a screenshot with the built-in Android tools, so in this article I suggest using two Android applications that will greatly facilitate this task.

Taking screenshots from a smartphone screen is a very useful and requested feature. Many users use it for different purposes. But, despite the obvious usefulness of the built-in function, it has a big drawback - only those elements of the screen image that are visible at the time of its creation can get on one screenshot. If you act "the old fashioned way", images stretched over several screens can be divided into several successive screenshots taken while scrolling the footcloth.

Relatively recently, to solve this problem, Xiaomi introduced a new feature in its MIUI 8 shell - “Long Screenshot”. The long-awaited function of creating a screenshot for a long web page has pleased the owners of smartphones of the same name. It is easy to use and resembles the implementation of the image capture function in Panasonic devices. But, after the presentation of the technology for creating screenshots with screen scrolling, not every Android device was able to implement it in practice. In order to make the feature available, you will have to use third-party tools and follow a few steps on your smartphone.

Warning: In order to activate the long screenshot feature on a non-MIUI 8 smartphone, you will need to download and install a third-party app from the Google Play store. Therefore, take care in advance of connecting the device to the Internet and the availability of free space in your device.

Creating a Long Screen Scrolling Screenshot in the LongShot App

The LongShot app can be freely found and downloaded from the Google Play Store. It has been specially designed to take long screenshots on Android. The process of creating a screenshot in LongShot is quite simple if you select the desired mode.

Capture screenshot mode

  1. Open LongShot and select the Capture screenshot option in it.
  2. Once launched, the app will ask you for permission to start working.
  3. Next, LongShot will prompt you to select an application in which you will take a long screenshot.
  4. Open the desired application and click Start. Scroll through the pages of the application on the screen in the required range. Click Done to finish taking screenshots.
  5. In this mode, you will receive not one long screenshot, but a series of screenshots cut from a footcloth stretched across the screen. You still have to work with them.
  6. You will see a list of screenshots with thumbnails. Delete unwanted screenshots. To check, you can view the thumbnail in full format by clicking on it and selecting "View in full screen" from the context menu. Then click on the thumbnail again and select "Delete" if you want to delete it.
  7. If you want to add something else to the long screenshot, click on the plus sign located in the circle and select an additional image.
  8. You can compose the future long screenshot the way you want - vertically or horizontally, in automatic or manual mode, with or without a status bar. To do this, you can click the "Configure" button in the lower left corner of the application and select the options you need.
  9. After setting the configuration options, click the "Join" button in the lower right corner of the application.
  10. After some time, which will be spent on processing and “stitching” individual images into a canvas of a long screenshot, you will be taken to the Stitch menu.
  11. Here you will see a draft of the future long screenshot, which can be further customized. If everything suits you, just click the Save button in the upper right corner.
  12. If something is wrong in the project, click one of the Adjust buttons next to each component and use the cropping options of each frame. For fine and coarse cropping, you can use the "1px" or "10px" buttons, up or down. After cropping, click the Done button and, if everything suits you now, click Save.

Important note: screenshot files are automatically saved to the /storage/emulated/0/longshot directory.

At first glance, taking a long screenshot is not easy, but believe me - the developers have made the process intuitive and understandable. And they have taken care of those who want to take a long screenshot of a multi-screen web page in just a couple of clicks. For this, a special mode "Capture web page" has been created.

  1. In the main menu of the application, click the "Capture web page" button. The built-in LongShot browser will open with an address bar in which you need to enter the URL of the site whose page you want to "screen". The site address can be typed or pasted after copying it in another application. Click the checkbox to open the page.
  2. Next, scroll the site page to the place you need, where the screenshot should begin and click the “Set start position” button. The blue horizontal line will indicate the location where the screenshot will be taken from.
  3. Next, scroll the site page to the fragment where you want to complete the long screenshot. Focus on the horizontal pink line.
  4. Click the "End here and capture" button. At this point, a full-fledged long screenshot will be created with the scrolling of the web page.

Key features of the program:

  • Automatically stitches several screenshots into one, regardless of the direction in which the image was scrolled - horizontally or vertically;
  • performs auto-capture of screenshots while scrolling;
  • "floating" image capture buttons facilitate the creation of a series of screenshots;
  • manual image stitching mode for fine-tuning a long screenshot;
  • quick capture of a long web page, just specify the beginning and end and the screenshot is ready;
  • no watermarks, all functions are free, ads can be closed.

Long screenshot of a web page on Android in the Scroll Capture app

This application is perfect for taking a long screenshot from a web page deployed on multiple screens. Immediately, I note that the application is very simple, it does not get easier.

  1. Find and install the Scroll Capture app in the Google Play Store.
  2. Launch the application.
  3. Type in the address bar of the built-in browser the address of a site with a long web page that you want to take a screenshot of.
  4. If you previously copied the site address, the application will automatically pick it up and offer to open it in your browser. I do not advise you to refuse, this will further speed up the process of creating a long screenshot.
  5. After opening the page, click on the icon in the form of camera shutter petals at the bottom of the screen. The desktop image will immediately be filled with a purple tint and will become inaccessible to your "touches". A purple pointer in the form of a paint roller with a handle will randomly move in the center. It's strange why the developer chose this particular symbol ... It simply shows the process of scanning an image and creating a long screenshot. It will only take a few moments.
  6. Without any questions and the need to scroll the page, a long screenshot will be automatically saved to the program directory. It is created by default here: -->Pictures>Scroll Capture.

Of course, in addition to the two applications described above, there are dozens of others. Today they are able to make it easier for you to create a long screenshot on any Android device. But in my experience, LongShot and Scroll Capture are among the best, especially for taking a screenshot of a long web page spanning multiple screens.

Screenshot of the full page

I just talked about it in a previous article and realized that we also need a screenshot that would take a snapshot of the site page in full (including what is visible only when scrolling). I didn’t even think that the topic of screenshots would be enough for 2 articles
