Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge review. Everything you need to know about smartphones! Overview of the flagship version - Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE (SM-G925F) Galaxy S5 - neither good nor bad. No

The South Korean smartphone maker will no doubt continue to release flagship models of the Galaxy S line in 2015 as well. The Galaxy S6 has been in various rumors for months now, and we already know a few things about its hardware specs and the timing of its announcement. In any case, the S6 model is already in the works and there will be a lot of information from various sources in the coming months.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has been on the market for about half a year, so the media, analysts and fans are already turning their attention towards the Galaxy S6. Based on previous presentations and leaks that have surfaced online in various articles, we hope to get an idea of what we should expect from the unannounced flagship.

For a couple of years, we have already become accustomed to the fact that Samsung introduces its Galaxy S smartphones in February or March. We also expect the Galaxy S6 to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2015 - probably either in February at MWC 2015, or maybe at CES 2015 in January (but there is very little chance). In any case, sales may begin next March.

In recent news, we said that Samsung is working on the flagship Galaxy S6 literally from scratch. The smartphone is being developed as part of the Project Zero project, which is not surprising, because smartphone sales have fallen sharply compared to their predecessors, and the company is clearly not going to lose fans.

Earlier this year, there were already rumors that the Galaxy S5 will get a Quad HD display. Samsung felt that a Full HD screen for a flagship would be enough, and therefore in 2015 it is definitely necessary to wait for an increase in the S6 screen resolution to QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). This is because already in the second half of this year, an unspoken standard for flagship smartphones has been set. Again we will see a Super AMOLED screen, but its diagonal should grow to at least 5.2 inches, but no more, so as not to threaten sales of the Galaxy Note 4. By the way, Samsung is quite capable of fitting a slightly larger display into the dimensions of the Galaxy S5 due to narrower frames .

We all know that Google recently introduced new version its operating system - Android 5.0 Lollipop with built-in support for 64-bit processors. There are already rumors that the Galaxy S6 will run on a processor own production- Exynos 7420, and the second model of the flagship will already be with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors (depending on the sales market). Yes, let's clarify at the expense of processors - the Exynos 7420 will be with LTE support thanks to the built-in Exynos Modem 333 modem, but the Snapdragon 810 will already be eight-core with four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 cores, with an Adreno 430 graphics accelerator and support for 64-bit computing.

As for the design, it should be the first flagship of the Galaxy S line with a metal body. Enough steps have already been taken to produce affordable premium smartphones. Firstly, this is the Galaxy Alpha with its metal frame, which we also saw on the Galaxy Note 4 phablet. Secondly, a separate line of Galaxy A premium smartphones with metal cases has appeared. It's a pity, but this means one thing - we lose access to a replaceable battery.

The Galaxy S6 will “get fatter” due to the increase in memory – the RAM will already be 3GB, and the built-in volume will increase to 128GB. The initial model will have 16GB internal memory, but is only available in the Asian market, and 3 options will appear in the international market: 32, 64 and 128GB. But what about microSD card support? I hope Samsung doesn't give up on this.

Samsung is also already setting a new standard for front-facing cameras – it makes sense to wait for a 5MP selfie camera, given that this is already a popular trend. As for the main camera, Samsung may limit itself to a 16-megapixel camera, as in the Galaxy Note 4, with optical image stabilization, smart autofocus, support for Ultra HD video recording, as well as the ability to accelerate recording (slow motion). It looks like it will also improve the ability to shoot in low light.

Apple has set a new rule in the smartphone market by introducing its iPhone with a fingerprint scanner. Samsung backed the initiative so the S6 will have this sensor as well as a heart rate monitor and UV sensor, which is a significant advantage. It is possible that a retinal scanner will also appear, but there is little chance here.

Here is a review of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone, which looks fantastic, with enough powerful performance and an impressive camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge looks fantastic, with reasonably powerful performance and an impressive camera, but the high price tag, not-so-great battery life, and the Edge's near-poor display features make it less than ideal.

Fast, smooth and productive interface;

Unsatisfactory battery life;

A small number of useful Edge display features.

Lack of a microSD card and moisture protection.

Introduction and design

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is certainly an outstanding device, holding the title of the world's first smartphone with a curved display. Finally, Samsung has produced a device that not only has a powerful hardware, but also an attractive design.

Following the Galaxy Note Edge with only a single curved edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge has been rumored for a while, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise - it's a fairly normal advancement in Samsung's curved display technology.

Samsung, some time after the arrival of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, published not too high sales figures for these devices, while stating that there will be a “price adjustment” for these devices. In principle, if we take the current moment, then these news correspond to reality - the cost of both S6 and S6 Edge is lower than at the end of 2015.

As we remember, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge went on sale at the same time as its "brother" Galaxy S6, and both of them have almost similar characteristics. The S6 Edge is a little thicker (7mm vs 6.8mm), a little lighter (132g vs 138g) and packs a slightly larger battery (2600mAh vs 2550mAh).

In our opinion, not many owners today are seriously concerned about such omissions from the Korean manufacturer, although for experienced users who appreciated it for constantly including expandable memory and a removable battery in their devices, this situation is not to say that they are happy.

However, all of this is outweighed by the many other good things about the S6 Edge, which is still a delight for many of its owners.

It is also worth mentioning that this gadget received the main prize in the nomination "Best Smartphone" at the Phone Awards 2015, hosted by the staff of the well-known site TechRadar.

At the beginning of our review, we already mentioned the excellent design of the Galaxy S6 Edge, although, in truth, this device can be dubbed as "Two-faced Janus".

When we place our Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge face up on a table, we are dazzled every time by its sleek side edges, rounded metal bezel, and overall premium looks.

In general, it should be noted that such compliments are often addressed to various iPhone models and HTC One, but this time in the field of design, Samsung was able to get rid of the annoying plastic, which is no longer relevant in our 21st century.

It is likely that not only we, but also other users have noticed that the S6 edge has a certain similarity with the design from Apple. The placement of the headphone jack, microUSB port, and speaker grill on the bottom of the case mimics that of the iPhone 6, plus the volume rocker and individual metal buttons on the left also seem to be Cupertino-influenced.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge design

At the top of the case there is a tray for SIM cards, infrared port and microphone.

Everyone we've previously shown our Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to has been raving about the superb design and elegant curves of the case, even though that was before they ever picked up the smartphone. We want to note a funny feature of the device in question: its front part looks smoothly curved, but the back is flat like a pancake, which makes it feel much wider in the hand than it looks visually.

In general, regarding the back of the S6 Edge, we want to say that we are a bit disappointed. The front side of this device is made amazingly, although this plus is negated by the not quite ideal design of the back side. To tell the truth, we didn't spend much time looking at the back of this device, although we got the impression that it was created in a hurry. We tend to keep things minimalist, but the S6 Edge's flat and not-so-impressive backside design fails to evoke feelings, and the bulky camera lenses protruding ugly from the body make for a very unattractive look.

The rounded hardware home key is still present on the Galaxy S6 Edge and S6, and it now has an improved fingerprint scanner (we'll talk about it later), and the key itself has received a more advanced design. All this provides a more premium look and sharper response of such a key. On its sides are the usual touch buttons "Back" and "Multi-tasking" backlit, which appears only when you press these keys.

In general, the design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is very good, and is a big leap forward compared to the Galaxy S5 and even the Galaxy Note Edge. The futuristically premium looks and feel partly justify the high price tag of this device, although a number of small flaws spoil the favorable picture of the overall user experience.

Screen, Edge display and People Edge

You will hardly find on smartphones from other manufacturers the same display as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. This is a unique engineering solution that certainly looks impressive.

The main display of the hero of our review has a diagonal of 5.1 inches, QHD format and an excellent resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. This provides a pixel density of 577ppi, which is higher than the Galaxy Note 4: with a slightly larger display (5.7 inches), the pixel density of this phablet is only 515 ppi.

And now, after two years, the handsome Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge appeared with two curved display edges, which are the main highlight of this device. Without a doubt, S6 Edge turned out to be very attractive, and durable Gorilla Glass 4 perfectly protects it from damage and scratches.

On paper, the Galaxy S6 Edge has a gorgeous display, and we still can't criticize it for poor clarity or resolution, although the switch from full HD to QHD doesn't really affect the user experience in any way.

Samsung's Super AMOLED screen technology puts the phone's display ahead of the 1080p displays of models like the Sony Xperia Z3 and HTC One M9, although there aren't many differences between the S6 Edge and its older Galaxy S5 sibling.

Don't get us wrong - the S6 Edge's screen is really amazing and feels good on the inside, but we didn't expect it to be a huge leap over the 2014 models.

Yes, the Edge display also has additional functionality when the main display is active, although it's somewhat limited (more on that in a moment).

The app column on the Galaxy Note, which includes shortcuts to main apps and tools like the ruler, is missing from the S6 Edge.

Now let's talk a little about the Edge display. Its main functionality becomes available only when the main screen of the smartphone is turned off. To activate the Edge, you need to swipe twice along the device, although this seems a little tricky to us - we often had it so that the first time we tried to turn on this display, the S6 Edge could not correctly respond to our swipes.

The essence of the Edge display is that you can quickly access any important notifications, news headlines, sports results, or simply check the time, date and weather forecast without having to activate the main display.

But, on the other hand, the information on the display in question is relatively limited and, if you have attempted to bring up this display, and it was unsuccessful, then you can simply press the home button to activate the main display to see the time and notifications.

When you have an Edge display turned on and a text message arrives on your smartphone, it will scroll all the way across that display so you can easily read it. However, you will not be able to directly interact with this message - you will have to unlock the entire screen of the device and then navigate to the application yourself.

Let's also say that users can control the information displayed on the Edge's display, although again, such control is limited and it's not very easy to find the Edge Display section in the settings menu.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge also has an interesting feature called People Edge. If you activate the main screen of the device, then you will lose access to the information bar, but you will see a small transparent tab at the top of the screen. Depending on which side of the main display you have chosen to display the Edge display (left or right), the above tab will be displayed there.

Drag that tab onto the display and you'll be in front of an option that Samsung has dubbed People Edge. On this tab, you'll see five colored circles, to each of which you can assign one contact (a feature called My People) for quick calls, text messages, or emails. People Edge can be accessed from the home screen or the lock screen, and nowhere else. This situation annoys us a little, as it forces us to exit some application to get to this quick settings panel.

By the way, we send most of our messages through the above web applications, so we believe that People Edge is clearly limited in terms of usefulness. If you're also a fan of WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, then you won't be too thrilled with People Edge.

One of the really useful things about People comes into play when you pick up your smartphone from any surface. The device detects that it has been picked up and notifies you via the display (which turns black and white, a faded hue) if there are any missed calls, text messages or emails from your selected contacts. Again, we'd like to see integration with other messaging apps, and we hope that Samsung can create the right software in the future.

Fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor and Smart Locking

It's no secret that Samsung's early attempts to integrate fingerprint scanners into their smartphones weren't very successful. The Galaxy S5 and S5 Mini pale in comparison to Apple's slick Touch ID interface, but things have been improved over time with the arrival of the Galaxy S6 Edge (and the Galaxy S6 as well).

Samsung updated its scanner for the Galaxy Note 4, but it was still far from perfect. This time, the Koreans have put even more effort into improving this scanner. Now you don't need to swipe your finger on the "Home" key - just put it on this button.

All this reminds us of the situation with iPhone smartphones.

The fingerprint scanner

We want to say that we are very pleased with the speed of fingerprint recognition. Of course, this smartphone's scanner runs extremely smoothly, and the fingerprint recognition process adds to the overall user experience of the S6 Edge.

You can also use your fingerprints to verify your PayPal payments, your Samsung account, and sign in to sites that support this technology. We are still looking forward to integrating fingerprint recognition technology with Google Play so that we can pay for apps with our fingers, although of course this may not happen soon.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, among other things, has an interesting Smart Lock feature. Thanks to it, you do not need a fingerprint, PIN or password to unlock your smartphone if there is a trusted Bluetooth device nearby.

By the way, setting up trusted devices is very easy - just pair them via Bluetooth with your S6 Edge and then add them to the list of trusted devices under "Privacy and Security" in the settings menu. Plus, you can also set up trusted locations, such as your home or office, although the app will warn you that the minimum radius must be at least 80m.

Settings for trusted devices

In our opinion, the heart rate monitor and the Samsung S Health app are nothing new in the smartphone world today, although both have been enhanced on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6. S Health has a clear appearance, with a handy navigation bar on the main screen that allows you to take a screenshot of your fitness results, in the form of heart rate numbers, number of workouts and stress level monitoring. Plus, if you've been lazy all day, this app will notify you with a message to be more active.

Heart rate monitor

We have always questioned Samsung's decision to bring a heart rate monitor to smartphones as it would make more sense to put it on other mobile accessories such as smartwatches, but the Korean manufacturer is not going to back down from its decisions, which was demonstrated on the S6 and S6 Edge .

To Samsung's credit, the heart rate monitor on our review hero is now more accurate, and you can now see a visual ECG graph that will give you the feel of something medically related. We would also like to see audio signals in the above monitor as well.

Note that in S Health, among other things, there is a pedometer, which is not entirely accurate in the calculations. The only negative is that you may not have your smartphone with you every time you are on the move, which means you may not know the number of steps you have taken, which is of great importance to you.

Interface and performance

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge runs under Android control 5.0 Lollipop, and this version can be easily updated to Android 6.0.1. Marshmallow, although like every other device from Samsung, the Galaxy S6 Edge is not stock. software. The TouchWiz interface is still there, but it's been cleaned up to be simpler and less annoying. Externally, this interface clearly demonstrates that this is software from Samsung, and if you plan to upgrade from an older device from this manufacturer to a new one, then purchasing S6 Edge, you will feel right at home.

On the lock screen, you'll find the camera and contacts widgets, and swiping across the display will bring up a small bubble animation, after which the device will be unlocked. You'll also see a translucent tab at the top of the display, which, as we mentioned earlier, gives access to the People Edge feature.

Galaxy S6 Edge Interface

On the S6 Edge's home screen (similar to the Sense interface on HTC devices), a left-to-right swipe activates the news feed. This process is based on a technology called Flipboard. You can also adjust the spacing between apps on your home screens, so you can fit more apps on one screen.

The default grid size is 4x4, but you can increase it by setting it to 4x5 or 5x5 if you really need to have a lot of apps (or/and widgets) in the front and center of the home screen. Double-clicking on the home button will quickly launch the camera app - almost in an instant. To the left of this button is the familiar "Multitasking" button: when you click on it, the display will show a vertical list of applications running in the background.

You have the ability to easily close individual applications by sliding your finger over them, or close them all at once by pressing the corresponding key at the bottom of the display.

When you first load the multitasking panel, there is a slight pause, as the smartphone itself performs the sorting process, and in the future, such a panel opens almost instantly.

Contacts, calls, messages and Email The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is controlled by the respective stock apps, with the Gmail and Hangouts apps also preinstalled.

As for the Samsung branded keyboard, we can say that it is usable, but not as precise and smooth as some third-party alternatives, and we prefer the Swiftkey keyboard app.

Interface Galaxy S6 Edge

Due to the slanted edges on either side of the main display, you'll have to tweak your typing style a bit, as the letters at the end of the row of keys (Q and P mostly) sit on the fold of the display and need to get used to hitting them correctly. We didn't spend much time getting used to the new keyboard, but you can get used to it within the first few days.

Of course, the TouchWiz interface is not very attractive to every user, but in this version it received a decent improvement compared to the previous generation, and we did not find any serious problems in it during our entire communication with the S6 Edge.

Previous Samsung devices came with a lot of pre-installed applications - some useful, some not so much, but their number in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge seems to have dwindled. Plus, you have the option to disable unused apps by removing them from your view.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to completely remove them, but even disabling such apps is a big plus.

Curiously, Samsung also allows you to disable all pre-installed Google apps from Gmail, Drive, Maps, and the Play Store. We do not recommend that you disable any of these applications, as they are quite useful, although, in principle, it is nice to have this option.

S Health, S Voice, and some stock apps like Notepad and Calculator can also be easily disabled, although the Galaxy Apps icon can't be removed.

As we wrote above, it is already possible to update your Galaxy S6 Edge to Android Marshmallow. As we found out, the TouchWiz interface remained almost unchanged in it, but for Google there were some improvements, ranging from new Google features Now and complete control over application permissions, and ending with a toolkit for increasing battery life.

The device in question does not have a processor from Qualcomm - instead, a proprietary Samsung Exynos chipset with 8 cores is installed, paired with 3 GB of RAM. This processor consists of two 4-core chips: one chip works with clock frequency at 2.1 GHz and is designed to serve "heavy" tasks, such as games and videos, and another chip (1.5 GHz) comes into action when you perform more routine manipulations - typing and sending text messages or viewing information in the Internet.

The speed at which the camera app launches at startup is a testament to the power of the processor, and heavy games like Family Guy: Quest for Stuff and Real Racing 3 played without any problems.

We ran the Geekbench 3 benchmark on the S6 Edge a few times and got an average score of 4774, which is great, especially when compared to the average. Galaxy smartphone S5 (2905 points). In addition, with such a result, the flagship from Samsung left behind such models as One M9 (3595), LG G Flex 2 (3427), iPhone 6 (2902) and Sony Xperia Z3 (2737).

All in all, the interface and performance of the Galaxy S6 Edge is commendable. We believe that this smartphone is able to cope with any task assigned to it, even the most difficult one.

Battery life

When the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was first unveiled at MWC 2015, there were some disturbing claims about its battery life.

Can the 2600 mAh battery - a full 200 mAh less than the Galaxy S5 battery - really deliver decent performance? As it turned out, no.

With a higher resolution display and a more powerful processor, the S6 Edge can barely make it through the day on one full charge. By the way, the “brother” of the hero of our Galaxy S6 review behaves almost the same way, having a display of the same resolution and a processor of similar power, but a slightly less capacious 2550 mAh battery.

A very unpleasant moment for many fans of devices from Samsung was the fact that the battery of the S6 Edge turned out to be non-removable. The Korean manufacturer has taken this unpopular step to improve the design - yes, this smartphone looks great - and also because Samsung seriously believes that the S6 Edge will be able to demonstrate high battery performance. In our opinion, this is a moot point.

With moderate use during the day, which started at 7 am and included: an hour of listening to music on Spotify, an hour of playing games, various messages in different applications, some time for Internet surfing and sending emails, taking a few photos and making phone calls , our S6 Edge was almost completely dead by 10 pm. Considering that in 2014 we could use the flagship of the time for a day and a half at a similar level of load, such a drop in performance is a real shame for the battery in question.

The effect of the display on the battery is obvious - almost 20 percent of the charge was wasted in the first couple of hours of using the smartphone in the morning with non-stop gaming and listening to streaming music through our Bluetooth headphones.

A small plus in terms of battery life of the S6 Edge is that this device consumes very little power in standby mode. If your smartphone sits on a table, in your bag or pocket for most of the day, by the evening it will lose only a small part of the battery charge.

It's funny how Samsung is pitting the S6 Edge's not-too-satisfactory battery life with fast-charging technology. This device is capable of charging 1.5 times faster than previous models in the Galaxy S line and can last up to 4 hours after just 10 minutes of charging.

All this is certainly impressive, but to get such a result, you need to use the charger that comes with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. If you leave such a charger at home and take someone else's charger while out of your home, then you will no longer see the super-fast charge of your device's battery.

The Korean flagship in question also has wireless charging available, which can be used with most wireless chargers on the market today. Thanks to this charging, you can easily "top up" your battery, although in this case you will not have the same functionality as fast charging.

In the early days of owning the Galaxy S6 Edge, we did this experiment: we launched a full HD video on it, lasting 90 minutes, and setting the brightness level to maximum. Also, our accounts were in sync over Wi-Fi in the background. At the end of our experiment, we found that the battery level had dropped by 15 percent. This result is not as good as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or LG G Flex 2, although it is clearly better than the HTC One M9, iPhone 6 Plus and Sony Xperia Z3.

If you are really worried about battery life, then you can always activate the power saving modes. Standard power-saving mode limits performance, reduces display brightness, frame rate, timeout, and adjusts other smartphone features and options to improve battery life.

Galaxy S6 edge camera

The image quality experts at DXO Mark gave the S6 Edge a score of 86 out of 100, enough to place it in the top of the best smartphone cameras. Later, this result was surpassed by the camera of the Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone - 87 points, although, in our opinion, the camera of the Japanese device deserves second place.

Note that the S6 Edge camera can be launched from anywhere on the smartphone with two taps on the Home button, which is very convenient, and considering that the camera application opens instantly, you are unlikely to miss the time to take a picture of an important event.

By the way, this camera starts faster than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and plus, you get sharper and more detailed photos than Apple's 8 MP sensors.

Yes, Samsung did a good job on the camera app, making it more convenient and easy to use - now all the necessary settings are located on the display.

There are also various modes, including "Auto", Pro, "Selective Focus", "Panorama", " Virtual photo”, slow motion and fast motion. We mainly used the automatic shooting mode, as the S6 Edge does a great job of recognizing the environment and adjusting the settings for optimal photo quality.

The Pro mode gives you many different options, such as white balance, shutter speed, and contrast. If you want to fine-tune the settings before taking a photo, use the Panorama mode - it supports vertical and horizontal extended picture coverage, which will give you more options when taking a photo.

Selective focus allows you to choose the focus point of an image after the photo has been taken. You have three options to choose from: near focus, far focus, or both at the same time. You will have to experiment a bit with this mode to get exactly what you want.

We find the Virtual Photo mode very cool. You need to select the object you would like to see in 3D and then start moving your device around it. The device will take a series of pictures and join them together as a GIF. As a result, you will be able to view this object by tilting the smartphone to the right and left. Such a picture looks funny, although its quality will not be very high.

The S6 Edge can also record video in 4K (rear camera only; front camera in 2K). If you select slow motion or fast motion recording modes, then the recording mode will be 1280 x 720 level in these cases.

The lens of the rear camera of the hero of our review is located in a rather good place - we very rarely had situations where our fingers wandered into the frame. This situation, by the way, is not uncommon for many iPhone models.

If you find it difficult to reach the touch-sensitive shutter key on the display, then you can use the side volume key to take pictures. This option is very convenient when photographing with the front camera, especially when taking selfies. Plus, there's also a Beauty mode that will make your skin look flawless in photos.

Note that the camera of this smartphone takes the highest quality pictures outdoors in sunlight, with a high level of detail even at 4x digital zoom. To be honest, we did not even expect that in such a situation the quality of the pictures would be very decent.

Indoors, the S6 Edge also takes good photos. While poor lighting is a stumbling block for many smartphone cameras, in our case there is a noticeable improvement in terms of photography compared to Samsung's 2014 line of devices.

There is an LED flash next to the rear camera, but like many other smartphones, it plays a big role when photographing and sometimes overexposes your subject, so use the flash very carefully.

You can look at sample shots we took with the main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Bright, clear and very detailed photos work great S6 Edge

As you can see in the foreground of the church, the detail is clearly visible here.

Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge will be a continuation of the S6 line, or rather its counterpart, with the exception of the design and the screen with corners where the controls will be located. That is, this is a continuation of Note Edge.

Will the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge look the same or be completely new?

The modern design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

The leaked rumors and the first press conference about the Galaxy S6 Edge, which will take place today, March 1st, 2015 at the Samsung Unpacked event, which will present the S6 and S6 Edge, allowed us to gather all the available information about this smartphone in this small review. .

Look at the leak of fresh photos of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

The curved screen of the S6 Edge will be a differentiator from the stock one, and the photo below shows how they differ from each other. This press release advertisement for new smartphones made it possible to learn a little more about these phones.

A recent post from Samsung Norway claims that the Galaxy S6 Edge will feature front-facing stereo speakers.

Galaxy S6 Edge release date in Russia

Based on the latest rumors, it looks like the S6 Edge will be unveiled on March 1st alongside the S6 at MWC. If everything is similar to the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, then the release date for the Galaxy S6 Edge on the Russian market will be set a little later than the S6. The most likely exit is in late May or early summer.

Update March 2nd at 5am: As it is not surprising, but the release date for the S6 Edge on sale was set on the same day as the S6! They will arrive on the world market on April 10, and in Russia by the end of April!

Because of this curved screen, the S6 Edge smartphone will definitely add to the price.

According to rumors previously leaked to the press from a source close to Samsung, it is reported that the Galaxy S6 Edge will come in three variants: 32, 64 and 128 GB at a price of 849, 949 and 1049 euros, respectively.

As you can see, the price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is much higher than the S6, similar to the Note 4 and Note Edge.

Screen

The S6 Edge will feature a 5.1-inch curved screen, likely with QHD resolution. We don't know if Samsung will add new tools, but we do know that the display's corner surfaces will contain additional functionality.

Software

The Galaxy S6 Edge will run Android Lollipop with TouchWiz setup out of the box. And according to recent rumors, Samsung is improving its TouchWiz to an increasingly sophisticated level, releasing updates faster, prettier graphics, a more responsive interface and improved security.

Specifications Galaxy S6 Edge

Specifications of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be the same as

The twin brother of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is practically the same device, but with a display curved on both sides at once. All the same glass, metal, QHD display, Exynos 7420, 3 gigabytes random access memory. Support for all kinds of wireless charging standards in the absence of a replaceable battery and from 32 to 128 gigabytes of internal memory in the absence of a microSD slot complete the picture. Cameras of 16 and 5 megapixels with 1.9 aperture are included. The main difference - the curves of the screen - are endowed with additional functionality.

Samsung Electronics has announced the complete end of software support for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge three years after their introduction. This is stated on the official website of the manufacturer. From now on, owners of flagship devices in 2014 will not receive even quarterly security updates.

This year, Samsung Electronics will break its own tradition of updating branded smartphones and release it for three-year-old devices. This follows from the materials of the official website of the American operator T-Mobile, where confirmation of an additional year of software support has already appeared.

Despite the manufacturer's promised delay in the release of the update, owners of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge from some countries have already begun to receive 7.0 Nougat. At the time of publication, the update is available in the UK, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and a number of other countries and can be downloaded to the device over the air.

Consumers are already accustomed to the fact that devices with a display rounded on the sides cost a lot of money. So, Galaxy S7 edge is estimated at 600-700 dollars. You can already find cheap smartphones from Chinese manufacturers with a similar display on the Internet, but they are priced at about $ 150-200, so $ 80 for a device with an edge display is really not bad.

Dreaming about new smartphones, one should not forget about the models of previous years, which are still quite productive and their capabilities are enough for many users. The only thing missing is the new software features provided by the new operating system. According to a tweet from Samsung Turkey Vice President Tansu Yegen, the company will also release Galaxy S6 edge Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of February 2017.

Over the next few months, management will present an update to the flagship line of smartphones. Its new representatives will be the Galaxy S8 with a 5.8-inch display and the Galaxy S8 + with a diagonal of 6.2 inches and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. According to the company's employees, the long-awaited announcement will take place not at the end of February, but on March 29th. And although there is a month and a half left before this date, this does not prevent the management from doubting the success of the eighth Galaxy right now.

Modern smartphones have many useful features. They alert you to the approach of bad weather, can measure our heart rate and even monitor the quality of sleep. And given that all of the above is seasoned with a high resolution display, high-quality cameras and many other features, there is no doubt about the need to purchase one of these devices. However, it was not without its downsides. In mind there is a strange tendency to self-immolation. Today we will be able to see the result of this on the example of edge +.

To be honest, we don't know why many people are still interested in the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The novelties were presented on March 1, 2015, and soon arrived on the shelves of retail chains. However, some are still interested in this question for some reason.

Also, for the most curious, we note that the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in Russia took place on March 16, when the smartphone officially went on sale.

In general, the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in different regions of the world was different. But unlike the company's other Galaxy Note lineup, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge didn't have such an extended time span.

Of course, fans of Samsung products from South Korea were the first to get the opportunity to purchase the new product. Here, the possession of a smartphone of its production is considered a kind of patriotic act, and the release of flagship devices is an event of a national scale.

In general, the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge took place almost simultaneously with the main competitors, primarily HTC One M9 (Hima), and did not overlap with the release of such an important rival as the Apple iPhone 6S. As for the iPhones, since the release date of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (see comparison), Samsung has had enough time to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of competitor models, draw appropriate conclusions and implement solutions. At the same time, almost six months remained before the release of the updated "apple" flagship.

A little later, the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S6 on the US and Chinese markets, then - the countries of Europe and the CIS.

Samsung Galaxy S6 release date in Russia

Unlike the Galaxy Note 4, in the case of the release date of the Galaxy S6 on the Russian market, Samsung did not slow down and the smartphones arrived on the shelves on time. However, despite the difficult economic situation in the country, the demand turned out to be so great that most of the pipes were swept off the shelves literally in the very first days. This is especially true for the Galaxy S6 Edge.

In light of the growth of the US dollar, the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in Russia had certain nuances. However, unlike Apple, Samsung does not tie the cost of its devices strictly to the dollar, applying a more flexible policy, since the same or even much more profit can be obtained at a lower price. In addition, the first purchases of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge fell on a period of relatively high ruble exchange rate, thanks to which the smartphone became quite affordable for an average buyer from Russia.
