What are they studying

Future specialists in information technology and systems receive fundamental mathematical training at the university; knowledge in the field of system analysis, control of dynamic objects, and design of intelligent databases is especially important for successful professional activity. At the same time, students acquire knowledge and skills of modern programming methods in the Internet environment, in the field of global control systems, information security, etc.

Since the designed and used IT, as a rule, is focused on a specific area of application, a specialist will need knowledge in this particular area of \u200b\u200bthe national economy, for example, in mechanical engineering, railway transport, e-commerce, advertising. Certain types of professional activity of a university graduate in the field of information technology will require knowledge in the field of economics, finance, law, management, marketing, project management.

All computer programs are written in English, so the future IT specialist must speak technical English at a sufficiently high level.

You can also become an IT specialist by obtaining one of the specialties listed in the table at the university; it is important that you decide for yourself what you want to become: a specialist in "brains", "iron" or "configuration" of finished products and models. A profile of activity similar to the one described above is provided to graduates of the university in the specialty "Applied Informatics", who are also called upon to use advanced information technologies in specific areas of the national economy. In Moscow universities, you can find interesting programs of study in the specialty "Applied Informatics" in economics, management, management, tourism, medicine, etc. If you know in advance in which area you want to specialize in the future, choose a university with a suitable profile that can teaching in the proper amount of a complex of related disciplines.

Where do IT professionals work and how much do they earn?

There are several options for the development of a career of university graduates in the field of information technology: administrative, design and management.

The administrative direction is represented by the positions of system administrator, network administrator, database administrator. All these administrators are required to ensure the smooth and secure operation of computers and their complexes in the network. Novice administrators receive 25,000 rubles, each year of work adds 15% to the salary, additional knowledge, for example, a foreign language, adds another 10%. The presence of professional certificates, especially international ones, increase the salary by another 30%. Thus, a salary of $ 5,000 is not the limit for an administrator, and additional earnings are possible for performing one-time orders.

The design direction is represented by the positions of a programmer, lead programmer, network application developer, web programmer, etc. The average salary of a programmer is 1,500–2,000 dollars, it depends on the programming language, level of knowledge in English(plus 20%), work experience. Often, programmers, especially in the Internet environment, are outsourcing, that is, they work for themselves; their incomes are usually higher than those of full-time employees.

Leadership work for IS professionals includes the positions of project manager, project director, CEO. You can find out about the formation of wages for positions in this area in the description of the specialty "Management of the organization".

University graduates, IP specialists, can find work in all areas of life where computer technology is used:

  • – in academic, scientific, educational institutions;
  • – in computer centers, experimental design bureaus;
  • - in information centers, archives, funds and libraries, state statistics bodies;
  • – in state and government institutions, state and municipal authorities, taxation, law enforcement and social protection authorities, customs;
  • - in management bodies at enterprises and organizations of various forms of ownership;

Hello to all hackers.
I re-read the information about IT education, because lately it has been bothering me a lot: only a year is left before I write (!!!) a diploma, and then I become a bachelor of mathematics. Here I came across here, just about me and people like me written:
She hit a nerve. And I decided, based on her motives, to roll my own, as a continuation of my thoughts - where to go for IT bachelors. In my opinion, studying for an IT master's degree is a good prospect. But only, I think, not all master's programs are equally useful, but only those that can provide really high-quality training, so that later I would also like and be able to work.
Reasoning that only good practices can give good practice, I went to the abyss of the global network to find in Russia (I don’t really want to dump over the hill yet), master’s programs supported by serious IT offices.
For several hours, I honestly looked at what falls out in search engines for queries: "IT master", "Master's IT" and similar keywords.
And here I made such a plate from everything I collected:

Here, I will briefly summarize what I have done.

Information management
I found this magistracy through the website of a certain IT Academy company, which deals with distance learning. Everything seems to be very tempting, but the courses are not about software development, but about its sales, implementation, and analysis of the IT technology market. Organized on the basis of MISiS. By the way, don’t take it as PR, but on the website of this same MISiS there are so many different master’s programs in various scientific areas that I really wanted to try to learn there.
Information management - part two
The only specialty here, judging by the information on the RANEPA website, is the head of the information service. During the training, it is proposed to take courses in Research Methods in Management, Company Development Management, Electronic Marketing, IT Strategy and Business Strategy of the company, after which, as the academy confidently states, graduates become "business leaders", because they study not just "for ticks, but gain knowledge by working.
Masters at Moscow State University
Supported by SAP University Alliance. They promise paradise, but for 400 thousand. On the other hand, I have little doubt about the quality of this educational paradise. On the third hand, it is not entirely clear who I will become anyway - a manager-implementer, or a developer? There are many disciplines of both plans. We were pleased with the presence of the "Employment" block with links to different companies. Frustrated by the exorbitant cost of education.
Mathematical and software for computers
At the request of "IT magistracy" this was the first link. The announcement promises teachers from the Microsoft Innovation Center, SKB Kontur, RAS. The system is as follows: a master's degree in Computer Science at MatMecha URFU (Yekaterinburg) is taken, and all sorts of goodies like “Competitive, multi-threaded programming”, “Development under changing requirements” and the like are added to it. And like, everything is free. There are two stages of selection, but in general the requirements are adequate. They are my favorites so far, because, in fact, this is the only desired magistracy not in the "capitals".
Master's programs from IBS
I'm creeped out by them. Really. Each direction of the master's program is supervised by some department of the company, the 10 best interns are immediately hired, students are paid a high scholarship, at the end they receive letters of real value and certificates. This was implemented on the basis of MIPT and MISiS, but alas! I don't have 300,000 rubles! And another specialty - IT consulting and analytics - is not entirely desirable ...
Independent Moscow Institute
Who does not know - shame on you and disgrace (as well as minuses in karma!) NMI is my old dream. Unfortunately, they still teach pure science here, but at such a level that I'm not sure if I could pass at least one session here. And most importantly, this paradise for geeks and nerds is free.
School of Data Analysis
I'm sure everyone knows what it is, but just in case, I repeat. Yandex organizes, among the three areas there are basic ones: "Computer Science", of course, - "Data Analysis" and the desired one - "Software Development". The study is organized, as I understand it, on the basis of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and at the end Yandex certificates are issued. Full-time in Russia in St. Petersburg and Moscow. For free. Some solid pluses, except that this is not a master's degree, but I, after all, do not want to join the army and want a state diploma.
Internet data analysis and artificial intelligence
The magistracy from the same Yandex, on the basis of the Higher School of Economics, should solve problems with the army. On the website of this magistracy in the description of the department, there is a link "next", but it is not clickable. Instantly disappointed. Information on the magistracy - zero. In the lists of graduate students and teachers, intersections with the ShAD were noticed.

Here's a brief overview. In fact, I would like to see your comments: what masters and interesting programs have I missed? Suddenly, one of you is studying under these programs, or some others - what would you advise? Where else can I be taught the practice of solving real problems?
