Autorun optimization program for Windows 7. Optimizing Windows startup using Autorun Organizer. Disabling autorun from removable media and CD drives

Removing Windows programs and services from startup or at least delaying their launch is one of the effective ways to speed up the startup of the operating system. This optimization method, in principle, can be implemented using standard Windows tools: you need to remove all software that is not critical for its functioning from startup or the registry, and then assign delayed startup to those programs whose background work is essential using the standard task scheduler. We discussed in detail how this is done in the article “”. But there are more convenient ways of such optimization, implemented by third-party software. We have already become acquainted with the work of one of these programs on the pages of the site, and this is. In this article, friends, I want to introduce you to its narrow-profile analogue - the Autorun Organizer program.

While AnVir Task Manager is a comprehensive product aimed more at professional systems engineers, Autorun Organizer is a product for ordinary users. The program has a modern usable interface, clear organization and a narrow, clearly defined scope of work - only organizing Windows startup in any version, starting with XP. You can download the program from its website:

https://www.chemtable.com/ru/autorun-organizer.htm

Autorun Organizer is absolutely free, it was created in support of a paid product from ChemTable Software - a well-known program for cleaning the registry Reg Organizer in Windows optimization circles. The first one in its installer contains a checkbox for the accompanying installation of the second one. If there is no need for a registry cleaner, during the installation of Autorun Organizer you need to uncheck the implementation of Reg Organizer.

Computer boot time

One of the notable features of Autorun Organizer is the display of a line chart of Windows boot time. For the last start, the exact time is displayed, how many seconds the system booted until it was fully ready for operation. And all previously performed launches are listed with a positive or negative time difference relative to the last launch.

This chart will allow you to track the effectiveness of optimization in the future.

What is most often removed from startup?

Before disabling and postponing the launch of something, let’s take an interest in the rating of programs and services, kindly provided by the creators of Autorun Organizer as a guide for beginners. Since the program is aimed at ordinary users, its developers have provided the ability to display, so to speak, public opinion - the frequency of disabling certain programs and services by users, generated on the basis of ChemTable Software statistics. You can see what others are doing by clicking the button at the bottom of the “Show” program window or by checking the appropriate box in the settings.

As a result, in the list of software we will get an additional column with an indicator and a percentage display of the shutdown frequency (first indicator) and startup delay (second indicator).

The display of public opinion in our test case showed that Autorun Organizer's audience consists, for the most part, of quite reasonable people. Not the best optimization method in the form of disabling the audio driver is used by only 6%. Between 13-32% of program users prefer to speed up Windows startup by disabling Windows Defender, Microsoft OneDrive, and Chrome update services. Especially the last two are a good choice.

But, friends, I don’t recommend you rely entirely on public opinion. If you have a question about a program, service, or driver, it’s best to get help about it online. Moreover, for these purposes, the program’s context menu provides a convenient function for generating a search query.

Well, now directly about the main functionality of Autorun Organizer.

Startup content view

The list of startup software in the program window is divided into sections:

  • “Main sections”: here everything is displayed that can be disabled in the standard form of Windows startup, that is, programs that are not critical for the performance of the operating system;
  • “All sections”: here we will see the entire list of software launched along with the system - programs, services, drivers, registry entries, scheduler jobs;
  • “Custom”: This is a customizable section and can be filtered for ease of use. For example, remove from the list the display of services and drivers, by disabling which optimization is unlikely to be carried out.

In any of the sections, startup software can be grouped by its type and location where the download is registered by clicking on the “Comment” column. This will help identify the top candidates for deletion or delayed launch - tasks in the scheduler. In our tested case, for example, the first candidate for deletion was the task of an already deleted program. And for the delayed launch, tasks from the ubiquitous Google company are presented.

Removal and temporary disabling

To carry out any operation with startup software, select it in the Autorun Organizer list and at the bottom switch to the “Program Details” tab. In our case, the scheduler task of an already deleted program was selected, so it can be deleted without any doubt. We do this with the “Delete” button. But in other cases, you can use an alternative solution - do not delete the startup entry itself, but check the box to temporarily disable the startup object.

Delayed launch

To assign a delayed launch to a program, service, registry or scheduler task, at the bottom of the “Program Details” tab, click the “Delay loading for 30 seconds” button. In the drop-down list of this button, you can set a different value in seconds, how long we want to delay the launch of the program after Windows boots.

  • Note: temporarily disabling startup objects and delaying their launch are operations that can be canceled at any time in the Autorun Organizer window. But before completely deleting startup objects, it is advisable to make a Windows restore point.

Group operation mode

The operations provided by Autorun Organizer - complete removal from startup, temporary disabling, delaying launch - can be carried out in group mode, for several selected objects at once. To do this, at the top of the window you need to click the “Change several” button.

Adding to startup

Autorun Organizer allows you to add any program to startup that does not provide this feature through its functionality. Moreover, you can add any object to startup - any executable or even an ordinary, say, media file.

The program registers the autorun of objects in the system registry.

Anti-virus scanning of startup objects

If Windows Defender is active on the computer or another antivirus is installed, there is no need for any additional means of checking startup objects for their maliciousness. Real-time protection of antivirus products should be responsible for this. But in those rare cases when the computer is used without an antivirus and with Windows Defender disabled, and there are suspicions that one or another process running along with the system may be malicious, you can resort to the additional Autorun Organizer function and enable online scanning of startup objects from using the famous VirusTotal service. The verdict of anti-virus products working with this service for the selected startup object will be displayed directly in the program window. We will receive detailed information on suspicious objects in the browser window when you click the link to VirusTotal.

Step-by-step instructions for improving performance and optimizing Windows 7

Optimizing the operation of Windows 7 is extremely relevant today and is available not only to professional engineers of specialized centers, but also to ordinary users.

Since the release of the operating system by Microsoft Windows 8, the popularity of her predecessor, Windows7, doesn't get smaller.

Prevalence of Windows versions as of March 2014 (according to http://www.netmarketshare.com/)

Windows 8/8.1 - 12.54%

Windows 7 - 50.55%

Windows7 proved to be the most successful and user-friendly version of the OS on the Windows platform, especially in comparison with its predecessor - Windows Vista.

Currently, the objectives set by software manufacturers and user expectations regarding system speed and performance have increased significantly.

The number of programs has also increased preinstalled by manufacturers on new laptops and personal computers, which often only take away the performance of the system. In addition, over time, a huge number of temporary and unnecessary files generated by programs and Internet browsers accumulate.

In connection with the above, an increasing number of companies are engaged in both the development specialized utilities to optimize the performance of Windows 7, and by creating multitasking programs that clean and configure the system, optimizing its operation based on the needs of a specific user, along with a set of other software (for example, all-in-one antivirus software, CCleaner, RegOptimazer and others).

But let’s not forget that all cleaning and optimization programs act superficially, without affecting the depths of the system. Thanks to simple steps, any user can safely and effectively optimize Windows 7 performance, without resorting to in-depth analysis and practical study of its work.

To optimize Windows7 performance, follow these steps:

1. Completely disabling UAC (User Account Control)

First of all, it is worth drawing your attention to the fact that this tool is one of the most important in the matter of system security and disabling it will inevitably reduce the overall level of its protection from external threats. However, many users have greater confidence in high-quality antivirus software.

In this article we offer you the ability to either completely disable UAC or change the protection level.

Before performing the suggested actions, you should log in with your account. Administrator.

14. Disabling the autorun function from removable media and CD drives.

Disabling autorun is not only speed up work with external storage media, but also will protect protect you from a number of viruses entering your computer.
Launch Notepad (in the Start menu, in the Search line, enter the word “Notepad”).
After launching the Notepad program, copy the following text there:

"HonorAutoRunSetting"=dword:00000001
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:000000ff
3. Next, select the menu item “File” - “Save As”.
4. Select the file type “All files”
5. Specify the file name and extension for it “*.reg”
6. Close the Notepad program.

7. Run the newly created file and agree to make changes.
If the autorun function is still present, do the following:
1. Open Notepad
2. After launching Notepad, copy the following text there:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

"AutoRun"=dword:0000001

"allocatecdromes"="0"

"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:00000091

"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000
3. Next, select the menu item “File” - “Save As”.
4. Select the file type "All files"
5. Specify the file name and extension for it “*.reg”
6. Then exit the Notepad program.
7. Run the newly created file and agree to make changes
8. Restart the Computer and check for autorun on the media.
Attention, this method will disable autorun for you from all storage media:
Flash and portable drives;
CD, DVD, BD discs;
Network drives;
Local disks.

15. Move the recycle bin from the desktop to the taskbar

If you feel like it fully free your desktop from icons, then you can do this. After all, in Windows 7 not only is it possible remove the Recycle Bin from the desktop, but even pin it to the taskbar.
1. Right-click on an empty space on the Desktop.
2. In the context menu, select Create - Shortcut.
3. In the Object location field, insert:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe shell:RecycleBinFolder

4. Click Next.
5. In the window that opens, in the Shortcut name field, enter Trash and click Finish.
6. A shortcut has appeared on the Desktop (to make sure it is the Recycle Bin, double-click it), but it looks like an Explorer shortcut, not Baskets. To fix this, right-click on it and select Properties, then click the button Change icon.
7. In the Search for icons in the following file field, enter:
%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll
and press Enter.

8. From the proposed collection of Windows 7 icons, select the Recycle Bin icon and click OK twice.
9. Now our Recycle Bin icon looks authentic. Drag it with the right or left mouse button somewhere on the taskbar.
10. Right-click on the desktop, select Personalization, then Change desktop icons and uncheck the Recycle Bin.

16. What to do if your hard drive partition disappears after installing Windows 7

Let's assume that your computer's hard drive contains two partitions (C and D) and after installing another OS on the second partition, the first partition disappeared. In reality, the section remained where it was, but Windows 7 did not assign a letter to it. Therefore, we do not have access to the data stored on this disk.

To assign a drive letter, go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management.

In the left menu, select Storage Devices -> Disk Management. This displays information about all drives connected to the computer, including logical drives (partitions), drives, and removable drives. Our lost partition is located here - it is displayed in the list and has neither a letter nor a volume label, but is recognized by the system as a hard drive.

1. Right-click on it and in the menu that appears, select Change drive letter or drive path.
2. In the window that opens, click the Add button.
3. In the window that opens, in the Assign a drive letter line, all free letters are presented in the form of a drop-down list; we can assign any of them to our “unidentified” partition.
4. Select a letter and press the OK button.

As you can see, setting up and optimizing the operation of Windows 7 with the proper approach is an easy and quick way to both improve the process of using your computer and increase its performance and speed.

Important!

If, after optimizing Windows operation, you have not achieved the desired result, or your actions have led to disruption of the system, USService specialists will help you.

Have you bought a new laptop or home computer and are noticing a gradual decrease in performance in work tasks and games? Often the problem is an excessive number of applications that run along with Windows in a hidden automatic mode. Many of them do this without the user's knowledge, even if there is absolutely no need for them.

OS settings Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 And Vista

Each program that is set to run in startup is permanently located in the system's RAM. When there are too many such programs, this leads to a decrease in system performance and seriously affects the loading speed of Windows and the desktop when the computer is turned on. It is precisely because of the excessive number of automatically loaded programs that the computer begins to slow down even during everyday work and immediately after turning on the computer.

This problem is especially relevant for owners of computers and laptops with a small amount of RAM (from 512 Mb - 2 GB). Programs running in automatic mode but not used take up part of the already small amount of RAM, slowing down the entire system.

The desire of most software developers is certainly include your application in the Windows startup list, even when there is no direct need for it, leads to a total “clutter” of the system and a significant decrease in the overall performance of computers and laptops. Constant monitoring of this list will allow you to maintain order in the system and prevent unnecessary applications from slowing down Windows and the programs you really need. Many programs also register themselves in the browser’s autostart, only interfering with normal website browsing. We will also talk about their removal later.

Increasing the amount of RAM is one of the most effective ways to inexpensively upgrade your computer. Ideally, in Windows 7 and Windows 8 startup list there should be no more than two or three most necessary programs. As a rule, this is an antivirus, ICQ/Skype/Viber agent and an email program. It is better to run all other software that is not constantly needed manually, as the need for it arises.

How to remove a program from startup

The easiest way to get rid of unnecessary programs in the startup list is to use a free and long-proven program, which we already used earlier in the first step of system optimization: and in general, we constantly use to speed up the computer. In addition to all its other advantages, this program has a very convenient and simple startup list editor. There is no need to delve into the depths of the operating system settings, risking changing important parameters.

You can download the current version of CCleaner from the official developer server or via a direct link.

After installing CCleaner, follow these simple steps to remove programs from Windows startup:

Open CCleaner with administrator rights and go to the “Tools” tab

In the right window you will see a list of all applications that start with the operating system;

Select the program that you do not want to start automatically, click the “Turn off” button, then “Uninstall”. The programs themselves are not removed..

Find out more about CCleaner in our. We recommend not removing it from the startup list if it is installed on your computer. In addition, you should not delete system applications Windows 7 or Vista. They can be distinguished by their location in the \system32 and \Windows folders.

You can also disable application startup at system startup manually by finding this option in the program settings. For example, it is disabled as follows: While in the main Skype window, open the “Tools” drop-down menu, select the “Options” menu and uncheck the “Boot with Windows” checkbox.

Cleaning autorun in browsers

Often, many programs add themselves to the browser's autorun list. For example, Google Chrome or Opera. Most of these utilities and add-ons are completely unnecessary and only slow down the browser. You can disable them in the same CCleaner program. Just open the tabs with the names of installed browsers and remove unnecessary utilities from the list.

If a large number of programs were included in the startup list, the effect of the actions taken will be noticeable the next time you turn on the computer. Windows 7 will load much faster, the system will slow down less when starting the desktop, programs and games.

To fully unlock the full potential of the system, after cleaning startup, we recommend that you read other materials about and tuning Windows for maximum performance. For example, a significant effect can be achieved simply from the system.

Sooner or later, users wonder what autorun (translated into English as StartUp) of programs is, how to set it up on Windows 10 and what it gives. Let's start with the terminology - these are programs and utilities that are automatically launched when you enter the OS, so among them there are necessary software tools, and there are others that devour resources and slow down the computer. We’ll tell you in more detail how to optimize your PC’s performance and change program startup settings in Windows 10.

Spring cleaning StartUp!

Optimizing autorun is an important and rather painstaking process, here is a small list of what should be left and what should be removed:

  • various torrent clients;
  • Internet messengers (icq, agent, skype, qip, etc.);
  • audio players – you can turn on music yourself.

Disable unused Windows Services, to do this go to:

For inexperienced users:

  • right-click “Start” → “Control Panel” → “Administrative Tools” → “Services”

For advanced:

  • +[r] → “services.msc” → OK.

If you use it, then accordingly leave the parameter unchanged and a small comment where the word “service” will appear in the name - in our list there will be “s.”, and Windows will be replaced by w.

  • Windows Search - built-in search;
  • Biometric s. w.;
  • firewall w. – if there is no antivirus installed, it is not advisable to leave your PC unprotected;
  • With. Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization and all related services;
  • secondary login;
  • With. geographical location;
  • With. client licenses (ClipSVC);
  • With. AllJoyn router;
  • With. shared access to Net.Tcp ports;
  • With. portable device listings;
  • With. portable device enumerator;
  • With. Bluetooth support;
  • With. Program Compatibility Assistant;
  • With. error logging w.;
  • server;
  • network s. Xbox Live;
  • With. BitLocker drive encryption;
  • With. uploading images w. (WIA);
  • remote registry;
  • application identity;
  • Fax.

Setting up autostart of programs in Windows 10 OS is mandatory, disabling and deleting was discussed above, and now about what should be left, and if not, enabled, and what is possible - but does not belong to the category of important - in a word - editing startup.

Important and useful include:

  • firewalls;
  • utilities from the developers of your hardware;
  • drivers and utilities for usb, additional monitors and office equipment.

In this simple and analytical way, you can clean up startup on your Windows 10, and then free up resources.

What else does StartUp store?

It is important to correctly configure startup in Windows 10 and continue to maintain it in proper condition, let's see how to do this. Let's take a look at which applications are currently using startup, go to the "Task Manager" in any convenient way:

  • ++ – using hotkeys
  • Right-click “Start” → “Task Manager”

When you execute any of the above commands, a dialog box opens, then go to the “Startup” tab

A list of programs and utilities that start automatically when the system starts will open; we can perform the following manipulations by calling up the context menu by right-clicking the mouse (hereinafter referred to as RMB):

  • “Disable” – the next time you start the OS will no longer be there;
  • “Open˽filelocation” - the directory in which the file to be launched will be called;

  • “Properties” - a standard window with detailed information is displayed;
  • “Search on the Internet” will help if you don’t know the software and don’t even understand where it came from.

Problems with autorun

Reverse cleaning and optimization situations arise - these include cases when autoloading does not work in Windows 10. There may be several reasons and briefly, about their solution, since in Windows 10, as well as in other earlier versions, startup management occurs in the registry and services, then you should look for errors there.

  • The service responsible for launching may be disabled, so we check and launch it.
  • There is no parameter in the registry; see below for details on how to add it.
  • Critical errors after the update - roll back and try the update again.

Due to the specific nature of work, sometimes it is necessary to autorun a certain program in the Windows 10 operating system, how to do this? Using:

  1. Registry.
  2. Graphical interface of the operating system.
  3. Using third-party programs such as: “AutoRuns”, “CCleaner”, “Ashampoo WinOptimizer Free”, “PC Booster”, etc.
