Is there GTA 4? Should we expect the release of Grand Theft Auto IV on Android devices? Technical side of the issue

GTA 4 on Android and iOS, mobile technologies are improving incredibly quickly, and technology in general. In recent years, Rockstar Games has given us the opportunity to try out such hits of the past as GTA III, GTA San Andreas, Max Payne, etc. on their mobile phones. And this list consists of dozens, if not hundreds of games that were able to be transferred to smartphones.

Mobile gaming is growing faster and faster every year, if not every month. At this point in time, in the AppStore and Play Market you can see countless games that are technologically superior to games that seemed to be from a not-so-distant time.

For example, on the pages of these stores, you can find incredibly beautiful action adventure games or shooters that seem to have come straight out of a computer monitor. In general, mobile technologies now allow you to literally carry a portable PC in your pocket.

But what about GTA 4 on Android and iOS? Is it possible to run GTA IV on Android and iOS? Well, nowadays, you can actually look at the world of Liberty City from the display of your smartphone. But a little not in the form in which you would like it.

At the time of writing this article, GTA IV has still not been officially ported to Android and iOS. So please do not be fooled by claims like “Download GTA IV on Android and iOS” as they are most likely FALSE.

Not a single modern smartphone can currently run such a heavy game as GTA IV on its configuration. Even if Rockstar Games now wants to port GTA IV to mobile platforms, it will probably have to greatly reduce the graphical riches of the game.

However, Rockstar will probably port GTA IV to mobile platforms, as they have done more than once. In GTA San Andreas for iOS and Android, they were even able to improve the graphics for the game. But don't wait for at least another year or two, perhaps even longer. It can be assumed that GTA IV will be ported to Android and iOS by 2020, but this is only an approximate date. You can also rely on craftsmen if Rockstar does not pursue this idea.

However, let's get back to the topic. You can go a slightly different route. It consists of using special programs for your computer and smartphone, with the help of which the image from your computer will be broadcast to the smartphone display. In other words, you can use streaming services to play GTA IV on Android and iOS.

There are many programs for this purpose. We will consider an example using one of the most popular utilities - Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop. Setting it up won't take you much time.

  • Download and install Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop on your computer and smartphone.
  • Then open Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop on your smartphone and register an account for yourself.
  • Open Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop on your computer and log in using the created account details.
  • Find your PC in the list of devices on your smartphone and connect to it.

This way you can play GTA IV on Android and iOS. You also don’t have to worry about FPS drops and other slowdowns, since this is a simple image broadcast from a PC, and your smartphone acts as a second display.

Finding a resource online that offers to download GTA 4 for Android is quite simple. It would seem that all that remains is to press a few keys and get the desired project. The catch is that this game has never been released on mobile platforms.

It is difficult to say what exactly the user will download by following such links. Most likely, this will be a lot of malicious content, from which you will have to clean your gadget for a long time.

Users should understand that the fourth part of the famous series has not yet been released on mobile platforms. To read more detailed information on this subject, you should read the material in this article.

Prerequisites

Fans' expectations regarding the release of GTA 4 on mobile devices are quite understandable. First of all, they are based on the fact that the previous three parts have already been visited by smartphones and tablets of a huge number of users. Next up is the next part in the series, plus Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came out in 2013.

GTA San Andreas came out on Android devices back in 2013

More than three years have passed since then, and therefore the degree of anticipation does not subside online. Current mobile devices of average parameters could easily pull out the minimum settings of the computer version.

The transfer must be accompanied by optimization and even a possible reduction in graphics. It’s too early to talk about this now, because the developers from Rockstar Games typically remain silent.

New Hope

Many fans began to look forward to GTA 4 on Android with renewed vigor when another project from the same developers was released on mobile devices. The famous school robber simulator Bully Scholarship Edition became available for purchase in 2016 on smartphones and tablets. This caused a new wave of discussion about the postponement of the fourth part of Grand Theft Auto. Fans immediately began to declare that it would be possible to play soon. The main argument was that mobile platforms were rapidly gaining popularity.

The legendary Bully Scholarship Edition was released on Android in 2016

They bring in a good income, although most have little idea of the technical side of the issue with transferring a huge free world to weaker hardware. After this, comparisons began regarding the minimum requirements of Bully Scholarship Edition and GTA 4. It should be noted here that the developers have transferred an already improved version of the game. The 2008 project required very little to get started.

Based on the minimum parameters, it turned out that GTA 4 is not too far ahead of the naughty student simulator. To run it on a computer, it is enough to have a more powerful processor and a video card of a higher model. This information was enough for players to begin to expect.

Unexpected interview as a joke

The Android version of GTA 4 was supposed to appear in the fall of 2015. This is exactly what Gordon Hull, director of the mobile division of Rockstar Games, said earlier, namely on the first of April. The man said with confidence that the work on the transfer was almost completed. When asked about the changes, he stated improved graphics, display of grass water, and comfortable interaction with the outside world.

He called the approximate release date of GTA 4 on Android in the fall of 2015. The man assured that current mobile devices are fully portable, and they will cope with the power of the fourth part of the series.

GTA 4 on Android was supposed to appear in the fall of 2015

Hull tried to dispel doubts about the fact that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was only recently released, and it requires significantly fewer resources to run. The director said that his studio fully coped with the task.

Even people who did not look at the calendar of that day immediately suspected something was wrong. This is almost impossible to accomplish even in 2018. It turned out that Gordon Hull decided to joke with all the fans using this method. You definitely shouldn’t trust the statements of game developers on the first of April. They have been proving this for many years in a row.

Conclusion

Now we can say with confidence that it will not be possible to plunge into the interesting plot of GTA 4 with the help of your gadget any time soon. The developers from Rockstar Games did not give any official statements. Even if work is underway on the transfer, it will not happen as soon as we would like. This studio is known for always doing its work efficiently.

When porting, they will definitely add many improvements, as they did with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Unfortunately, you don’t always have access to the same games from your computer and smartphone. In technical terms, mobile devices are far behind, although development is proceeding at a rapid pace.

There has not yet been an official release of GTA 4 on Android

All fans can only wait for information from reliable resources, and we will continue to monitor the situation. According to forecasts, GTA 4 may hit portable devices at the end of 2019 or in the first quarter of 2020. If a user comes across a site online that offers to download the game right now, then it is better to immediately add such a resource to the blacklist.

It is highly not recommended to download from it not only a pseudo version of mobile GTA 4 on Android, but also any other files. As mentioned above, the user will face a large number of problems. Once malicious viruses enter the system, it can be extremely difficult to clean it. That is why it remains to stock up on hope and carefully follow all the news.

On April 29, 2008, a multi-platform video game was released Grand Theft Auto 4. It is the ninth game in the Grand Theft Auto series, released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation consoles.

GTA 4 included in the Guinness Book of Records for a record number of sales (over 6 million copies). It was also the first game in the series to be developed using Rockstar Games' own game engine, RAGE.

GTA 4 trailer: “Move Up, Ladies”

As in its series of games, GTA 4 provides complete freedom of action and movement across large territories. Here you can easily steal any vehicle or overwhelm a passerby and take all his cash.

The hero performs mainly criminal missions. Successful completion ensures progression to higher levels. This, in turn, opens up access to new areas and new elite weapons.

There are 88 story missions in Grand Theft Auto IV. There are also additional tasks, such as unique jumps, car theft, killing ordered characters, police missions, etc.

Location of GTA 4

The events of GTA IV take place in the fictional city of Liberty City (the real prototype is New York). It consists of 4 islands with five districts located on them. At the beginning of the game, the bridges between them are closed.

Any unauthorized entry into the territory of neighboring areas leads to a search. This is due to the threat of terrorism. During the passage of game modes, the main character will gradually gain access to other parts of the city.

Grand Theft Auto 4 plot

2008 A mysterious emigrant from Serbia arrives in Liberty City - Niko Bellic. He is a former military man who has seen a lot in his time and has learned all the skills of murder.

Why did the hero end up in the “Free City”? Niko was invited by his relative, cousin Roman Bellic. He painted his life in bright colors, talked about rich apartments and crowds of long-legged beauties. In reality, everything turned out to be much more prosaic.

Roman is the owner of a small taxi company, living in the dirty neighborhoods of Liberty City. In addition to this, he got into conflicts with large gangs and now he needs help.

Niko gradually integrates into his new life and finds friends. He spends most of his time in a taxi company, helping to deliver clients.

After some time, the main character and his cousin find themselves in trouble. The Russian mafia, led by Dmitry Raskalov, is interested in them.

Thanks to his unique skills, Niko manages to find a common language with him and they begin to cooperate. But details emerge that could disrupt this external well-being of the heroes...

GTA 4 final

GTA 4 can be completed in two ways:

ATTENTION! Spoiler. Two endings of GTA 4.

  • Revenge. Niko is given the opportunity to take revenge on Dmitry Raskalov, who brought him a lot of problems.
  • Deal. The second method involves concluding an agreement between the hero and Raskalov.

In both cases, Niko will have to kill Dmitry one way or another.

Weapons and communications

GTA 4 has 15 types of weapons. They are divided into the following categories:

  • Edged weapons - knife, baseball bat.
  • Pistols.
  • Submachine guns.
  • Sniper rifles (Remington 700).
  • Shotguns.
  • Assault rifles (Ak-47, carbine).
  • Throwable weapons (grenade, radio-controlled explosives, Molotov cocktail).
  • Grenade launchers (RPG-7).

The hero can wear one item from each type of weapon.

Communications in Grand Theft Auto 4

  • Internet. The in-game Internet contains more than 100 web pages. Through the network you can send emails, find out news, receive tasks, meet new people, and download files.
  • Mobile phone. The mobile phone is used to communicate, take photographs and replay unsuccessful missions. By calling 911, Niko can call a fire truck or an ambulance. You can enter the video editor from your phone.
  • Police computer. Found in a Patriot police car or FIB Buffalo car. Used to detect criminals, trespassers and perform additional tasks.
  • A television. Innovation in GTA4. Two channels Weazel and CNT broadcast various news lasting no more than an hour and a half.

Multiplayer game

GTA 4 provides the possibility of a multiplayer mode. A total of 15 levels of online play have been created with support for up to 32 users.

The player himself determines the parameters of his character based on the 6 specified properties. The remaining characteristics are set by the game organizer.

This includes: area of the city, presence of police, number of pedestrians, time of day, weapon restrictions, start of the game.

GTA 4 multiplayer game modes:

  • Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch. Skirmish mode - team or every man for himself. The group that destroys the most enemies wins.

Worth noting is the radio station Vladivostok FM, which includes famous Russian-language musical compositions:

  • Basta - Mom
  • Glitch"oza - Schweine
  • Dolphin - Rap
  • Animals - Apartment

Grand Theft Auto 4 Gameplay

GTA 4 was simply amazing at the time of its release!

For those who haven't played it, be sure to check it out. Get a lot of pleasant impressions.

GTA 4 can no longer be considered a new product, but still, the answers to frequently asked questions about it will definitely not lose their relevance for a very, very long time. There are always newcomers, and usually they have questions of the same type. Below you may find some useful information for yourself.

When was the game released?

Owners of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles could purchase the game as early as April 29, 2008, and PC owners, if we talk about the Russian market, on December 19, 2008. Rockstar always releases its GTA games for consoles first and then for computers.

Who is the main character in the game?

This is one emigrant from an Eastern European country. His name is Niko Bellic, it is believed that he was born in 1978, given that the actions in the game take place as if in 2008 - the year of its release, it turns out that he is 30 years old at this time. As always, the main character here usually performs criminal tasks in order to advance his career as a bandit and improve his life. In free mode - outside of story missions - Niko Bellic can also be cruel - although the game world itself often provokes this.

Can Niko swim? After all, Carl Johnson learned from the previous game!

Yes, he can, but he has forgotten how to do it under water. It seems that the developers did not create an underwater space - for what reasons it is impossible to understand, only they themselves know. And on the water, Niko swims perfectly - and can change speed, just like in San Andreas.

Niko's gait is too slow, how to solve the problem?

This is not a problem - the game just has two speed modes. If you just press the move key, Niko will walk slowly. And if you also press the left Shift key without releasing the move key, he will run very quickly. It changes speed, by the way, not as sharply as it did in the series before - now it looks quite realistic.

Has the main character lost the ability to jump over all kinds of fences and climb onto the roofs of various low buildings or canopies?

No, I haven’t lost it, but on the contrary, I’ve developed it! He does all this much better than the main character could in the previous series of the game. In addition, Niko can show how he masters parkour, which helps him jump from great heights without getting damaged. It should also be noted that Niko can climb vertical ladders as well as descend them.

I just can’t figure out where to get a parachute? And are there any parachutes here, as such?

Alas, no. The parachute is not provided by the developers, but you can install a mod that will add this feature.

Are there any bicycles anywhere?

No. GTA 4 has scooters and motorcycles, if we consider two-wheeled vehicles. Bicycles disappeared, but they still appeared in GTA 5.

I saw a video of Niko riding a motorcycle with a helmet. Where can I find a helmet?

There is no need to look for a helmet anywhere - when Niko gets on a motorcycle or scooter, then wait, do not press the gas right away. In this case, Niko will take out the helmet - literally from nowhere.

Are there animals in GTA 4?

No. They appeared in GTA 5 and are so far only there, if we talk about the GTA series.

Where in the game do all the events take place? What kind of city is this?

In the fictional city of Liberty City. This is a city that looks like New York - it was based on it that it was created.

Do cars still explode after they roll over?

No. In general, cars here are now more difficult to blow up, they have become closer to reality in literally all respects, and when a car is badly damaged, it simply stops starting.

And car doors no longer fit right through?

That's right, doors now also have a physical model - they can even be used as cover during firefights. The police especially like to do this.

What about car physics?

The controls and physics of the cars have obviously been redesigned from scratch. It is impossible to compare them with what we saw in the previous parts of the series. The game has become closer to a car simulator.

Is it possible to find a plane somewhere that is available to fly on? Otherwise, such realistic planes are constantly visible in the sky, but I don’t know how to hijack them.

Yes, there are a lot of realistic airplanes in the sky and at the Liberty City airport, but, alas, you can’t fly them. The developers decided that helicopters would be enough for such a city.

How are the graphics?

She became much better - for the first time in the series. Previously, the graphics have not changed so much - in GTA 3 - GTA San Andreas they are almost the same - these games differ in many ways - first of all, new features, different game worlds, but not graphics. But in GTA 4 the graphics have moved forward rapidly and far. In addition, the same can be said about physics - now everything that is visible in the game has much better detail and physics. Even some kind of garbage, even various boxes, boxes, stones - everything has become more realistic and detailed. You can, for example, shoot at some bench and see how it gradually falls into pieces. Bus stops can no longer be broken, but their windows break even very realistically. Many other such examples could be given, but all of this is easily visible in the game.

This article contains all currently known facts about Grand Theft Auto IV, which have been published in various gaming magazines around the world. As more details about the game become available from magazines, we will update this article to keep you up to date with the latest news. This article also provides links where you can view or download scanshots of GTA IV previews from all these magazines.

American magazine GameInformer received the honorable right to be the first to publish a preview of GTA IV. So, here is a short list of facts that first became public knowledge:

“The game will be as significantly different from previous GTA games as Grand Theft Auto was from GTA III.”, Rockstar founder Dan Houser said in an interview with the magazine. The player will be offered greater opportunities and freedom.

We already know from the trailer that the game will take place in 2007 in Liberty City (New York). The main character will be an Eastern European emigrant Niko Bellic native of Serbia or Croatia. His cousin Roman convinced Niko to go to the City of Freedom in search of the so-called “American Dream”, Roman promised Niko a luxurious life, many women and cars, and as it turned out, he used his brother as a cover in his machinations. He will be your only employer until you yourself begin to look for new acquaintances in order to determine your future destiny yourself.

The camera is positioned somewhat closer to the car than in earlier games in the series, this allows for a more detailed look at the car. She looks absolutely amazing.

Niko has a cell phone, the LCD display displays the following options: “Phone Book”, “Messages”, “Organizer”, “Camera”.

Speaking about the game atmosphere, one cannot help but note the fact that the game developers constantly consulted with former police officers in order to more accurately convey the atmosphere of the criminal world of modern New York. Nowadays, criminals have a more difficult time than in the 80s or 90s of the last century. The NYPD doesn't sleep, and arrests happen very often.

One of the biggest differences in the new GTA IV is the way you interact with other people. Previously, in GTA games, other characters would call you and set up a meeting place. Now you can call the characters yourself and arrange a meeting depending on your current affairs. You can also talk personally with the person you are interested in or send him a message. There will still be some element of the storyline that you are forced to move through, but freedom of choice is something that the developers are proud of now.

In GTA IV, four of the five boroughs of New York and part of the real-life New Jersey have been recreated for you to explore. So the town Broker this is Brooklyn in real New York, Algonquin this is Manhattan Dukes there will be Queens, Brohan will be the Bronx, and Alderney New Jersey.

The 2007 version of Liberty City will be significantly larger than the city shown in GTA III, and many new objects have been included in the game world. For example, the Statue of Liberty, in the game it is called the “Statue of Happiness”.

So the game will obviously be smaller in size than San Andreas and there won't be any countryside or deserts, but the level of graphics, detail and freedom should make up for that. For this reason, there will be NO planes in the game. The developers want GTA IV to be a more realistic game.

We've already seen impressive lighting effects, a gorgeous skyline and the beauty of next-gen quality graphics in the trailer. But what we couldn't see in the trailer was the greatly enhanced artificial intelligence. NPCs will move and speak much more convincingly, informing you of their current affairs. Obviously, all the advantages of the townspeople's intelligence will be revealed after you start playing. The behavior of pedestrians has also become more realistic, citizens move freely along the city streets, they carry various objects in their hands: bags of groceries, books, and if you suddenly push a pedestrian, he may drop his burden and immediately rush to pick it up. Residents of the city can be found not only on the streets of the city, where they rush about their business, but also in numerous parks and squares. Here townspeople relax, sitting on benches, reading, smoking or just talking. Rockstar representatives officially denied rumors about children and animals allegedly seen in the trailer. They won't be in the game, but birds and sea creatures will be in the game.

The radio and voice acting will remain at the same high level as in previous GTA games, but it is unlikely that famous Hollywood actors will be involved in voicing the characters. This is due to the fact that Rockstar will prefer to hire not so much famous actors, but rather ones more suitable for the characters and characteristics of the characters created by the developers.

Multiplayer will be included in the game, but it will not be some kind of MMORPG, not at all. It will be a very interesting and exciting entertainment that complements the single player game.

Technically, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be identical, and "loading screens" will not appear during the game, even when you enter or exit buildings. All necessary objects are loaded when the game starts. However, the Microsoft console will offer its fans some “additional content” that can be downloaded online (for extra money, of course!). It is believed that this same “content” will initially be available on the Blu-ray disc of the PS3 version of the game.

A month after the preview in GameInformer, the May edition appeared on store shelves Game Informer Unlimited, in which journalist Andrew Reiner, who had already seen a demo of GTA IV, answered questions from fans.

Andrew Rayner is the only journalist who has already played GTA IV. From him we received more detailed information about the demo version of the game, and what to expect from the full version of GTA IV.

For the first time it became known that, despite the fact that there will be no planes in the game, you will still have the opportunity to fly. There will simply be helicopters in the game. And the main character looks like he can climb telephone poles! You can read more in our new article "Andrew Reiner on GTA IV", which is located at this link .

Latest issue of the Western edition appeared on the shelves on the second of May, and there... new information about GTA IV and exclusive screenshots!

Scanned pages of the magazine are in our gallery. Now let's move on to the best part - new information. Of course, it’s not a lot, but for a true GTA fan, every bit is important. Get into it:

  • The main character, Niko Bellic, in his thirties, is trying to “escape” from his dark past. Niko's physique cannot be changed like in GTA San Andreas, because it is simply very difficult to implement from a technical point of view. But you can change clothes
  • Staten Island will not be in the game because the developers decided that it would be a rather boring location
  • Missions will become much more realistic, longer, more varied and will have different endings
  • Developers are still deciding whether to use bridges to limit access to other parts of the city or not.
  • This time, developers are trying to make Liberty City more “alive” so that there are no “dead spots” and “useless places”
  • We will no longer see annoying loading screens when moving to another island, or when entering buildings
  • Criminal gangs will be present in the game, but not as main characters
  • We won't see familiar characters from other GTA games because, as Dan Houser puts it, they're all dead a long time ago
  • Flows of pedestrians and cars now change depending on the time of day
  • Pedestrians have become smarter and more realistic, they use mobile phones, ATMs, eat, read newspapers and communicate with each other
  • A mobile phone can be used to negotiate a deal or organize an attack. More detailed information about this will appear a little later.
  • Shooting while driving is now more realistic and accurate
  • Contrary to some rumors, the game does not strive to be photorealistic, but things like artificial intelligence and the behavior of pedestrians reacting to what is happening around them (for example, shooting) are worked out very carefully
  • As noted earlier, there will be no planes in the game. But gamers will be able to fly helicopters. The planes were removed because there is not enough space for such flights, because a flight across the entire map would then take very little time. There will definitely be one airport in the game
  • The goal of GTA IV is to make the city look more alive than any other game
  • Dan noted that no developer has ever tried to recreate such large-scale locations with such a high level of detail
  • It remains to be seen whether GTA IV will be playable on PS3 using the SIXAXIS wireless controller
  • As noted earlier, games and trees in the game will not suddenly appear from the horizon, as was the case in previous games in the series
  • Development of GTA IV began immediately after the release of GTA: San Andreas in November 2004
  • The new Liberty City is divided into five locations based on real-life areas such as Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx and New Jersey
  • The game was developed by several Rockstar studios located in Edinburgh, San Diego and New York

The next magazine that shared information about GTA IV with its readers was English PSM3 UK Magazine. The June issue of this publication talks about the following facts:

  • Niko's brother Roman is the owner of a taxi company.
  • Roman has a lot of debts and is being pursued by several gangster groups in Liberty City.
  • The first mission begins with negotiations in Roman's office.
  • Niko can move along walls, as shown in Metal Gear Solid And Gangs of London.
  • Niko can peek around the corner, just like in Splinter Cell And Siphon Filter.
  • Access to new missions is carried out using a mobile phone.
  • The hero of GTA IV can get himself a girlfriend.
  • Stealing a car will be much more difficult.
  • New physics allow characters to look more realistic.
  • Niko comes across as a very poor man. He looks disheveled, unshaven, and is wearing a cheap old tracksuit.

In the latest issue of the Australian magazine Official PlayStation Magazine, we were able to discover the following facts:

  • The editors of the magazine noted that pedestrians on city streets behave in a very authentic and varied manner. People read newspapers, actively gesticulated and talked on cell phones; at bus stops you can see people actively communicating with each other. Some passers-by even know how to brush dust off their trousers.
  • When pedestrians get too close to Niko (the main character), he "pushes them away".
  • While driving a car, you can feel the vibration effect using the joystick.
  • You can bribe characters.
  • Niko can deposit and receive money using an ATM or vending machine.
  • In the demo shown to reporters, Niko entered a stranger's house, drawing a weapon, walking through the house, which had several rooms, and exiting through the back door into an alley. There was a lot of garbage in the alley, a fire was burning in large bins, where several homeless tramps were warming themselves.
  • Still in the same demo version, Niko was hit by a car. Nico realistically fell to the ground and then got up looking very angry.
  • We finally have an answer as to why the trailer for GTA IV was released much earlier than the first trailer for any GTA game in the past. Dan Houser explained this by saying that the developers wanted to ensure that people would actively buy new generation consoles. This is understandable, because the more consoles are sold, the wider the game will sell.
  • Houser hinted that he was unhappy with the price of the Playstation 3, saying that he wouldn't buy a $600 console just to see advanced graphics in boring games. Let's hope that with the release of GTA IV, PS3 owners won't be bored.
  • Houser said the goal of the game is to create a game that depicts gangster life in a modern city as realistically as possible. On the other hand, the game shows the life of a simple law-abiding citizen most clearly.
  • Eating and pumping up muscles like in San Andreas will not be present in GTA IV, this is due to the fact that the developers preferred to focus on other elements of the game, such as physics.
  • There will be elements of terrorism in the game, but there will be no Ground Zero or World Trade Center locations. I am in no way saying that you have to play as a terrorist. If you are a politician and are reading this, then don’t be an idiot, there are no calls for terrorism in the game, says Houser.

  • When the hero approaches a bus stop, a menu with a schedule appears on the screen. You can probably ride a bus around town for a small fee. You can see bus stops in the GTA IV trailer.
  • When the main character Niko Bellic points his weapon at an enemy, the camera position automatically becomes “over the shoulder”, and the sight appears in the center of the screen. When escaping from enemy fire, you can move while keeping the enemy in your sights.
  • Niko can use automatic and manual shooting modes.
  • In GTA IV it will be impossible to get into a car and immediately start driving, as in previous games in the series. You need to use special tools and really steal a car. Also, to get inside someone else's car, sometimes you have to break a window. This is fragmentary information and it is still unknown what the actual mechanism of vehicle theft is.
  • Niko can freely climb some fire escapes and pillars, but there is no word on whether he can lick over walls like in San Andreas. Some moments of the game will take place on the roofs and upper floors of high-rise buildings and Niko can throw people from there.
  • The mysterious number "69" still appears frequently in the game.
  • One of the radio stations will broadcast “Eastern European Dance Music”.
  • Dan Houser claims that Liberty City in GTA IV is the largest single-player city ever recreated in GTA. At the same time, great attention is paid to details.
  • The famous New York "Central Park" will be in the game, but it is not yet known what it will be called.
  • The pavement grating reveals lower levels that are realistically illuminated by outside light.
  • Philip Glass composed the music not only for the trailer, but also for the game itself.
  • Watercraft, including boats, have been confirmed.
  • The game will be more serious than previous games in the series, but there will be a lot of weapons that will allow you to have a lot of fun.

Next up are some new details about GTA IV, which we managed to extract from the German version of the magazine GamePro.

  • There will be several different animation sets to show the car theft process. So far we know of two methods: cynically knocking out the side window with your elbow and shorting the ignition wires. It's unclear what other ways Niko will steal cars, but we're sure there will be several. For example, we will be able to watch an animation in which Niko will stealthily look around to make sure that no one sees him while stealing. Rockstar wants the animation to look less “conservative”, and it looks like the developers succeeded.
  • The article states that the new game will feature fewer unrealistic elements such as glowing arrows and markers that were used to guide the player in past GTA games. We already know that in GTA IV the mobile phone will be a very important element to help the player, perhaps there will be something like a GPS system in the game. Such a system can be a replacement for the inscriptions that appear about the name of the area in which the player is located. But for now this is just a guess.
  • Another use for GPS would be to display the name of each street to create more realism and make navigation easier. This can be implemented through the same inscriptions on the screen, but so far the developers have not decided whether to introduce this system into the game. They have also not yet decided whether the entire city will be accessible from the very beginning of the game or whether access to some areas will be blocked by bridges, as was the case before.
  • When reporters asked Rockstar Games founder Dan Houser whether there would be differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, he replied that the developers are trying to keep these differences to a minimum and that development on both platforms is very difficult. Speaking about the difficulty of developing for the next generation of consoles, I remember a recent interview with Hauser in which he said that he was unhappy that some versions of the Xbox 360 did not have a hard drive. This, in his opinion, made life very difficult for the creators of the game, but it seems they will find a way out of this situation.
  • Speaking about the additions that will be available for download for the Xbox 360 version of the game in early 2008, Houser notes that they themselves are not yet sure what this “additional content” will be. He says it's possible that some add-ons will be free, while others will require you to pay money.

“No matter what, we will create downloadable content that the game actually needs. Just taking $5 out of someone else's pocket is too disgusting for me."

Dan Houser, Vice President of Rockstar Games.

British magazine Play pleased us with a small preview, containing very little new information and a funny typo. So in the magazine, instead of GTA IV, GTA VI was printed (the 1 was placed on the wrong side!). Well, the facts about the game are:

  • Roman's debts amount to thousands of dollars.
  • Niko's mobile phone can receive text messages (SMS).
  • Pedestrians are not clones of each other, but this does not mean that they are all completely different.
  • Pedestrians look more realistic and behave less like zombies.

In Brazil, where many wild monkeys also play games and even have gaming magazines. A local fell into our hands Official Xbox 360 Magazine in which on 12 pages all the delights of GTA IV are described, and from the new information we note the following:

  • Citizens use mobile phones and payphones.
  • Citizens can call a taxi and buy food from street stalls.
  • Pedestrians behave differently in different areas.
  • The journal seems to confirm the protagonist's ability to swim.
  • Niko can order a taxi using his mobile phone or other means.
  • The mobile phone shows statistics and other information on the game.
  • Niko's mobile phone is something like an interface. When you press pause, a special menu appears. Using this menu, you can contact the character you need and receive a task (you won’t need to travel across the whole city).
  • Types of vehicles confirmed by the log:
  1. Ferries.
  2. Boats.
  3. Cars.
  4. Motorcycles.
  5. Regular trains.
  6. Trains moving on elevated structures laid across the entire city (like in GTA III).
  7. Helicopters.
  8. Ropeway.
  • Niko can fight hand to hand.
  • Rowing competitions have been confirmed in the game.
  • Rockstar wants to make the virtual camera control system more advanced than in similar games.

More and more British magazines are publishing interesting previews of the game on their pages. June was no exception Playstation 3 Unlimited Magazine. Below is a summary of the 6 page preview.

  • New virtual camera angles will be in the game (approximately four).
  • While inside the car, you will be able to observe what is happening from a first-person view.
  • Daytime and evening weather effects are very high quality and look different.
  • Weather effects will not only be a visual decoration, but will actually affect the gameplay.
  • During the day there will be significantly more pedestrians and vehicles than at night.
  • Missions can be completed in different ways, depending on what time of day you complete them.

Once again, new information about the game comes to us from Britain. This time he excelled Official Playstation 2 UK Magazine, who posted a 4-page preview of the game on his pages. We paid attention to the following details:

  • Garbage is strewn everywhere on the streets of the city.
  • Traveling from one end of Liberty City to the other will take you at least one hour.
  • In the game, in addition to the trains already known to us, there will be buses and subway trains, or as we say: metro.
  • You can receive and send requests by mobile phone.
  • Niko's age is somewhere around 35-40 years old.
  • The consequences of being arrested in the game will be more significant than before, given Niko's criminal past and his illegal immigrant status.
