Circular saw blades for coated metal. Saw blades Beading machine - Vector Hss saw blade cutting speed

Circular cut-off saws and milling cutters marked HSS DMo5, indicating 5% molybdenum content in P6M5 steel (HSS) or HSS Co5% with a 5% cobalt content, are made from high speed steel.

High wear resistance, lowering the coefficient of friction and, accordingly, reducing the operating temperatures of cutting is achieved by different coatings of saw blades - TiN, TiAlN, TiCN, CRV, CRN or VAPO.

The coatings are based on the physical vapor deposition process PVD (physical vapor deposition), PVD coating consists of several layers.

To obtain one of the types of PVD TiN coating, a thin layer of titanium nitride is applied to the surface.

VAPO - coating (black)

Metal saw blades treated in this way are called passivated, vapor-oxidized or VAPO saw blades.

VAPO coating is applied by CO2 oxidation, in which saw blades are re-tempered in superheated steam at about 550 degrees.

The result is a very thin layer with a Vickers hardness of 900 HV and a friction coefficient of 0.65.

Due to stress relief, saw blades become more flexible, which prevents their possible breakage.

Micropores formed on the surface improve the distribution of the coolant.

Vapo coated blades are preferred for cutting carbon steel, cast iron, but with the exception of aluminium, brass, copper and their alloys due to chemical incompatibility.

For different manufacturers, VAPO goes under the names SPECIAL OV, Steam-Treated, CLASSIC LINE, BLACK.

Coating hardness: 900 HV

Friction coefficient: 0.65

TiN - coating (yellow, gold)

Circular saw blades coated with TiN (titanium nitride) are characterized by a very high surface microhardness, which allows them to be used for cutting materials with high mechanical strength. Particularly suitable for splitting medium-alloyed and hard steels. The properties of the coating make it possible to increase the peripheral speed and feed rate by 50%, which significantly reduces the duration of work cycles. Cutting discs with TiN coating are marked by different manufacturers as Yellow Tiger, GOLDFACE, GOLDEN, GOLDENSKIN.

Applicability: Medium alloy steel, Hard steel, Metal-plastic

Oxidation temperature: 520 °C

Coating hardness: 2200-2400 HV

Friction coefficient: 0.55

TiAlN - coating (black) AlTiN

TiAlN coated blades are suitable for cutting high tensile metals, stainless steels and wear resistant materials such as cast iron and brass.

Their distinguishing feature is their resistance to high operating temperatures, so coated blades are intended for dry cutting or with insufficient cooling.

Suitable for high radial speeds on high speed saws (flying saws).

Cutting discs with TiAlN coating are marked by different manufacturers as BLACKFACE, Black Hawk, BLACK-VIOLET, BLACKSKIN.

TiCN - coating (black with a brown sheen)

The color of the coating is iridescent and mostly with a brown tint, but can vary from gold to copper and silver-blue. The color depends on the carbon content and other coating processing factors in the composition of the final coating layer.

TiCN coating obtained from titanium and carbon plasma is characterized by a very low coefficient of friction against steel 0.22.

Allows very clean cuts and prevents build-up when cutting with coolant.

Circular saws with this coating are used when cutting at very high speeds and feed rates of hard steels, copper and brass, which usually develop deposits during cold work.

An increase in speed and radial feed rate is possible by 100% compared to uncoated circular saw blades.

TiCN cutters require abundant lubrication and cooling. Temperatures can reach 400C.

Cutting discs with TiCN coating are marked by different manufacturers as SPEEDSKIN, SPEEDFACE, VIOLET, Gray Shark.

CRN - coating (gray)

Blades with CRN coating have a very low coefficient of friction of 0.22 and are designed for cutting materials prone to sticking to the blade body.

Brass, bronze, copper and aluminum alloys have this property.

Cutting discs with CRN coating are marked by different manufacturers as GRAYSKIN.

For cutting window glazing beads, a specialized group of saws is used - glazing saws or glazing saws; among window manufacturers, such machines are called “glazing cutters”.

The peculiarity of the glazing bead cutting machine is that the machine cuts the glazing bead body and trims the legs in one operation.

For this operation, four saw blades are used in bead cutters. Two cutting discs used to cut the glazing bead body and two 45 degree mirror cutting discs used to trim the glazing bead leg.

Saw blade sets are made of high speed steel or high speed steel with brazed carbide teeth. Disc sets can be combined:

High speed steel blades (HSS blades) - disposable discs - made entirely of high speed steel. To reduce friction and heat, as well as the subsequent sticking of plastic, the discs are polished. Due to the large number of teeth, the disc allows you to make a softer cut and level out the beats and vibrations of the machine. On the Russian market, such disks are widely used due to their low price - high-speed steel disks are preferred by owners of Turkish machines and machines with high wear. However, HSS blades are less durable and almost impossible to resharpen.

Carbide-tipped blades (HM blades) - discs are reusable - the body of the disc is made of high-speed steel with hard alloy steel soldering. The discs are distinguished by high resistance and durability and have the possibility of repeated regrinding - due to these parameters they provide significant cost savings. HM blades are considered higher end blades than HSS blades, but also more expensive. Therefore, HM discs are mainly used by owners of German and Italian glazing machines.
