Hardware

If anyone was hoping for a complete redesign, they are in for a disappointment. The watch looks more like a logical evolution of the first version. The case is still the same polished metal, and the straps are made of the same plastic with an almost identical latch. The good news is that the camera has moved from the strap to the watch case itself, where it belongs. The strap is now thinner, but shooting on camera is also not convenient.

Another small improvement is front panel removed the ugly mounting screws. The control button has moved from the end to the screen, which made the watch a little closer to the Galaxy Gear smartphone line. But why all these powerful processors if there is nowhere to use them? The first step, once you take your watch out of the box, is to pair it with one of the 17 supported Samsung smartphones/tablets (sorry, iPhone owners):

In terms of interface with the transition to a new platform, there have been few changes. The font, icons and menus have not changed much. This means that the design is quite simple, not “sexy” at all (just like the long-suffering TouchWiz on Galaxy smartphones). But it is functional and easy to use.

The situation with built-in applications has slightly improved. While there is no Facebook and Twitter, but there is something useful. In life

You can view the event feed, read RSS feeds, and if you are interested in something (letter or news), you can click on it for a detailed view on the smartphone screen. It is baffling that at this moment the screen of the smartphone does not light up with a magical light, and the desired application does not open automatically.

You can download music to your watch and listen to it through your Bluetooth headphones or headset. A good opportunity not to take an additional smartphone for a run. Enough space is available for music - about 4 GB. Also, the clock can be used as a remote control for the TV and other equipment - very convenient!

But what about the battery - the main weak point of the previous model? The original Galaxy Gear lasted a day on a single charge. Now that the battery has been reduced (instead of 315 mAh, now it's 300 mAh!) - the new watch lasts three days. Magic? Or it's all the fault of replacing Android with Tizen. Three days is not yet a chapel of dreams, but already something.

Camera

Samsung solved the main problem of its first watch - battery life. Now it's three days instead of one. The design has become more pleasant, the filling is more powerful.
