World of Tanks. General test of update 9.20. Update 9.20 is entering general testing. Battles in the “30 vs. 30” format, Chinese tank destroyers and vehicle rebalancing are waiting for you - we’ve already talked about it, and soon you will find other materials about the changes in version 9.20.
In the meantime, here’s all the latest and most interesting things regarding ranked battles. Read and don’t forget to share your opinions in a special topic on the forum. This will help us configure the update in more detail.

Ranked battles

The first beta season of ranked battles recently ended. We have analyzed all your feedback and want to make changes that should improve the gameplay in the second beta season. These are the ones we will test as part of the general test of update 9.20.

Changes to basic mechanics

One of the most discussed topics on the forum concerned the simplicity of the mode. The basic mechanics of matching players of equal skill worked, but reaching rank five was not a real challenge for experienced tankers.

We tried to fix this by changing the mechanics of obtaining chevrons and ranks. The number of ranks will remain the same, but the number of chevrons required to achieve ranks will change. The distance between ranks will be as follows: 1–3–5–7–9 chevrons. To achieve the first rank you will need only one chevron, and as many as nine will be needed to move from the fourth to the fifth rank.

In addition, the mechanics of vehicle ranks will change. In the second beta season, any rank will cost 5 chevrons.

The mechanics of obtaining chevrons will also change. The 10 best players in terms of experience earn a chevron on the winning team. The remaining 5 winning players, as well as the top 5 players of the losing team, do not earn a chevron. Finally, the remaining 10 players of the losing team lose their chevron.

In this way, we want to push players to interact: despite personal results in ranked battles, victory remains a team achievement. That is why we have expanded the list of players who do not lose their chevron if the team loses. This means that even if the battle goes poorly and the enemy is pushing in all directions, you should not give up. You need to continue to help your allies - your efforts will be rewarded.

Balancer improvements

We found several critical issues related to balance. And here's how we're going to solve them:

Let's improve the balance between teams in terms of the number of medium and heavy tanks.
Let's limit the number of self-propelled guns per team to two units.
We will add more maps and significantly improve their rotation. Thanks to this, the chances of ending up on the same card all the time will decrease.
Reward

We will also review the mechanics of receiving rewards. From now on, you will no longer have to wait until the end of the season to receive the bulk of the bonds you earn. The value of the rewards will also increase.

Testing stages

Testing of the second beta season of ranked battles will take place during the general test of update 9.20. Join us - the next stage will last until August 9.

Your feedback on changes to the game is very important to us. Leave comments on the forum and share your opinions about ranked battles.

General battle for the “Random Battle” mode

Rules

60 players on the map, 30 on each team.
Only Tier X vehicles are available.
The battle time is 15 minutes.
Victory conditions are similar to random battles.
Balancer

A battle of the “General Battle” type is formed from the general queue of the “Random Battle” mode.
Only Tier X vehicles can participate in battles of the “General Battle” type.
The player enters the “General Battle” battle type randomly, just like “Assault” and “Encounter Battle”.
The “General Battle” battle type is enabled by default for all players. You can enable/disable this type of battle in the settings: “Settings” > “Game” > “Types of random battles” > “General battle”.
Each team is conditionally divided into 3 subgroups, each with 10 players.
The player cannot choose a subgroup - membership in a specific subgroup is determined by the balancer.
The composition of teams in the general battle is regulated by the general rules of balance 2.0.
The composition of each subgroup by type of equipment will be as similar as possible to the composition of a similar subgroup from the opposing team.
The number of self-propelled guns in a general battle is limited to 4 units per team.
The difference in the number of platoons between teams is no more than 2 platoon players.
If at least one player in a platoon has the “General Battle” battle type enabled, then such a platoon can get into this type of battle regardless of whether the rest of the platoon members have it enabled.
Map

In this update, the main battle takes place on only one map - Nebelburg.
Map size - 1.4x1.4 km.
The appearance of players on the map is regulated by their subgroup.
Each subgroup has its own starting position (“initial rep”).
There are two bases, one for each team, as in a standard battle.
Interface

The loading screen, statistics screen (called by the Tab key), post-battle statistics screen, as well as the team composition panel are adapted for 60 players.
The entire team is divided into 3 subgroups.
The composition of each subgroup can be viewed in detail by clicking on the corresponding subgroup.
The top element of the user interface has been changed. In addition to the total number of vehicles destroyed by a team, this element now also displays the remaining total HP of each team as a percentage.
Awards, achievements and statistics

In each “General Battle” battle, players will be able to receive bonds. Players will also be able to receive bonds in regular random battles, where only level X vehicles are involved (the so-called “twelfth level” of battles). Bonuses are awarded to players who have earned 400 or more units of pure experience as a result of a battle.
The number of bonds received as a reward depends on the experience earned in battle.
The player will be able to complete combat missions, personal combat missions, and also receive all the rewards available in random battles.
In the general battle, players will be able to receive class badges and marks on their weapons (as in random battles).
Battles of the “General Battle” type are not taken into account in the summary of the player’s achievements and do not affect the statistics of random battles.
Statistics for this type of battle will be displayed separately in achievements: “Achievements” > “Statistics” > “Battle type “General battle””.
Statistics on the success of a specific vehicle in the “General Battle” battle type will be displayed separately in achievements: “Achievements” > “Vehicles” > “General Battle” battle type

Improvements to ranked battles

Improvements in the client

Added the ability to receive weapon marks and class badges not only in random battles, but also in the “Ranked Battle” mode.
The influence of Pre-Combat Instructions on the performance characteristics of vehicles is now displayed in information windows and simplified performance characteristics.
In the vehicle comparison interface, the ability to set Pre-Combat Instructions has been added to take into account their impact.
Added the ability to enable auto-replenishment of Pre-Battle Instructions in the purchase window.
Improved equipment can now only be removed using bonds.
Added display of vehicle rank on the vehicle panel (in the “carousel”), indicating a specific value for each vehicle when selecting the “Rank Battle” mode.
The interface for displaying the reward received in the past stage has been improved. Information about the reward received is also displayed in the tooltip when hovering over the rank.
The calendar interface in the mode has been redesigned. Information about prime times on each server for the selected day is now displayed in the calendar window (instead of in a tooltip as before).
The list of maps for playing in the mode has been changed. Now battles take place on the following maps:
"Mines".
"Prokhorovka".
"Monastery".
"El Halluf".
"Aerodrome".
"Robin".
"Himmelsdorf".
"Murovanka".
"Paris".
"Karelia".
"Lasville".
"Siegfried Line"
"Sandy River"
"Erlenberg".
"Polar Region".
"Tundra".
"Ensk".
"Swamp."
"Westfield".
"Fisherman's Bay"
"Highway."
"Quiet Shore"
"Windstorm".
"Fjords".
"Industrial zone".
Changes have been made to the work of the balancer:
The maximum number of self-propelled guns in battle has been reduced to two.
The balance system for vehicle types has been improved (the balancer will try to select the most similar team compositions).
The system for forming teams by rank has been improved.
The screen interface when entering the mode has been revised: information on the servers available for the game has been added; The display of information about prime times has been redesigned.
Special tips have been added to the Ranked Battle loading screen, explaining the main mechanics and features of the mode. A separate option has also been added to allow you to customize the loading screen specifically for this mode. You can choose one of three options for displaying the loading screen in the Ranked Battle mode (works the same as in random battles, but only applies to ranked battles):
text only;
with illustration;
minimap.
Season leader display improvements

An event archive has been added - you can view player statistics for the past season.
Added filters: clanmates and friends. You can see where your friends or clanmates stand on the season leaderboard.

Hall of Fame

The updated Hall of Fame is now active in the game client. The Hall of Fame section has been added to the Achievements screen.
Now you can evaluate your results in random battles not only for your account as a whole, but also for each vehicle separately, and also view the results of the best players.
You can compare your achievements with friends, clanmates and other players over different time intervals.
In addition, you can evaluate your effectiveness using the new “World of Tanks Rating” (WTR), which shows the level of play on individual machines in comparison with all players on the server.
The Hall of Fame and new WTR rankings are in open beta. Work on them continues, and we are waiting for your feedback and suggestions.

Improvements to crew stun mechanics

The duration of the inflicted stun has been added to post-battle statistics.
The mechanics of dealing damage and stunning through obstacles have been improved. Now the self-propelled gun will not deal damage through obstacles more than 2 meters thick if the target is completely hidden behind them. In this case, the blast wave may slightly bend around the corners of obstacles. To do this, the distance from the point of impact to the edge of the obstacle must be less than 2 meters, however, the damage from the explosion will be reduced.

Corrections for entries into hard-to-reach places

The ability to drive into hard-to-reach places on the following maps has been eliminated:

"Karelia".
"Steppes".
"Lasville".
"Monastery".
"Mines".
"Sacred Valley".
"Pass".
"El Halluf".
"Polar Region".

Update 9.20.1 is approaching its official release and we are starting a new series of general tests. Participate in testing and evaluate the changes that developers have been working on recently. Here's what will be available on the public test server:

  • Rebalance of Tier X light tanks, as well as British and American vehicles.
  • Reworked personal combat missions with a new interface and mechanics that allow you to complete them faster.
  • Additional rewards for high performance in battle are new ways to obtain bonds.

The changes can be found in detail in recent publications:

How to get to the general test?

Bonuses and medals

From 9.20.1, when winning medals in the “Epic Achievements” and “Battle Hero” categories, the player will receive additional encouragement in the form of bonds. Please note: coupons will not be awarded for cumulative medals. The number of bonds is not final and may change.

Improvements for pitched battles

The following changes have been made to the “General Battle” battle type:

  1. The message about victory or defeat in battle has changed.
    Added a new type of battle victory or defeat message to make it easier for players to understand when and why a battle ended. The message has separate animations for winning, losing and drawing. Additional text shows why the fight ended. When a battle ends when a base is captured, the capture progress bar goes into a "locked" state shortly before a message appears to indicate that the outcome will not change.
    This innovation has been applied to all random and ranked battles, as well as the general battle.
  2. Updated reward tooltips, which describe various conditions for obtaining. In a standard, oncoming battle and assault, the conditions are the same, but in a general battle the requirements are higher.
  3. Improved combat interface (HUD) in general battles.
    The background transparency of player list panels has been reduced to make the information easier to read against a light background (sky, water, etc.).
    Boundary markings have been added to the top panel to improve perception.

Improvements for Training Ground mode

Changes:

  • Irrelevant options have been disabled in the context menus of vehicle upgrade windows, the research tree, and the vehicle carousel.
  • Rewards (credits and experience) for victories and defeats when completing the training ground have been balanced.
  • Rewards for completing the training ground are now displayed in the notification center.
  • Added a notification to players that they will not receive a reward when completing the training ground again.
  • The crew recruitment window has become more informative.

Corrections:

  • Fixed a bug where some interface elements were displayed incorrectly in color blind mode.
  • Fixed errors that occurred when saving and restoring settings (vehicle panel and sights) when the player entered the training range and exited this mode.
  • Fixed the rendering of some game hints (unmasking when shooting, the need to return to the capture circle).
  • Fixed a rare bug where the “Skip Tutorial” button was not displayed correctly.
  • The results of battles in the mode have been removed from the notification center.
  • Fixed display of the EULA license window when restarting the game client.
  • Descriptions of vehicle characteristics in training ground loading screens are now correct.
  • Fixed a bug due to which the music tracks of the battle, Hangar and the final video of the training ground overlapped each other.
  • Added reward descriptions to the victory screen.
  • Fixed bugs in bot behavior.
  • Fixed errors in displaying map boundaries.

Update 9.20 is entering general testing. You will find battles in the “30 vs 30” format, Chinese tank destroyers and vehicle rebalancing - about it, and soon you will find other materials about the changes in version 9.20.

The distance between ranks will be as follows: 1-3-5-7-9 chevrons.

You must continue to help your allies - your efforts will be rewarded.

Balancer improvements

We found several critical issues related to balance. And here's how we're going to solve them:

  • Let's improve the balance between teams in terms of the number of medium and heavy tanks.
  • Let's limit the number of self-propelled guns per team to two units.
  • We will add more maps and significantly improve their rotation.

How to get to the general test

Improvements to ranked battles

Improvements in the client

  • Added display of vehicle rank on the vehicle panel (in the “carousel”), indicating a specific value for each vehicle when selecting the “Rank Battle” mode.
  • The interface for displaying the reward received in the past stage has been improved. Information about the reward received is also displayed in the tooltip when hovering over the rank.
  • The calendar interface in the mode has been redesigned. Information about prime times on each server for the selected day is now displayed in the calendar window (instead of in a tooltip as before).
  • The list of maps for playing in the mode has been changed. Now battles take place on the following maps:
    1. "Mines".
    2. "Prokhorovka".
    3. "Monastery".
    4. "El Halluf".
    5. "Aerodrome".
    6. "Robin".
    7. "Himmelsdorf".
    8. "Murovanka".
    9. "Paris".
    10. "Karelia".
    11. "Lasville".
    12. "Siegfried Line"
    13. "Sandy River"
    14. "Erlenberg".
    15. "Polar Region".
    16. "Tundra".
    17. "Ensk".
    18. "Swamp."
    19. "Westfield".
    20. "Fisherman's Bay"
    21. "Highway."
    22. "Quiet Shore"

  • Special tips have been added to the Ranked Battle loading screen, explaining the main mechanics and features of the mode. A separate option has also been added to allow you to customize the loading screen specifically for this mode. You can choose one of three options for displaying the loading screen in the Ranked Battle mode (works the same as in random battles, but only applies to ranked battles):
    • text only;
    • with illustration;
    • minimap.

Season leader display improvements

  • An event archive has been added - you can view player statistics for the past season.
  • Added filters: clanmates and friends. You can see where your friends or clanmates stand on the season leaderboard.

Improvements to crew stun mechanics

  • The duration of the inflicted stun has been added to post-battle statistics.
  • The mechanics of dealing damage and stunning through obstacles have been improved.

Updated (11-07-2019, 22:59): third test 1.6

The test server in the game World of Tanks 1.6 is a regular server where new maps, features, tanks and other innovations of the game are tested. It is impossible to get to the WOT test server when the player wants it - it opens only at a certain time, when the game developers need it.

The test is open!

What is a test server and why is it needed?

Test server is a repository where a copy is stored and reproduced, but with some changes. Of course, before making any changes to the game, they must first be tested.
The first to see the changes are the staff of WOT developers, then they give access to super-testers. If there are any shortcomings, they are corrected and the version of the new client is tested under load. The test version of the client is uploaded to the backup server and made available to everyone. Once again, the development staff is looking for errors and shortcomings. Afterwards, they fix and “roll out” a new version of the client.

How to get to the WOT test server

To get to the test server you need to download a special installer 1.6 or install Wargaming Game Center. After that, launch it. He will offer to download a test client - download it and install it. Next, a folder will be created World_of_Tanks_CT(in the directory where the player specified during installation).

Everything is ready to launch! Click on the test client shortcut and you will be taken to the authorization page and login to the game. Log in with your nickname and password and select one of two test servers.

List of changes in version 0.9.20.1 ST1 compared to 0.9.20.

Innovations:

— Large-scale update of the first campaign of Personal combat missions “Long-awaited reinforcements”

The essence of the changes.

* The visual and audio components of personal combat missions have been completely redesigned.
* Added completely new and unique rewards.
* The conditions of the tasks have been revised so that the main reward for the operation is always relevant for the player.
* Added “Order Forms”, which will greatly facilitate the execution of personal combat missions.
* You can learn about changes to personal combat missions in a special video available directly in the game.

Interface and sound

— All interfaces for personal combat missions have been redesigned:

1. The entry point to personal combat missions has been changed: it is now located on the top panel of the Hangar under the “Battle!” button. and is called “Campaigns”;
2. Added the “General Staff” screen with a map of all operations;
3. The operations screen has been completely redesigned: now it is a geographical map with tasks in the form of areas on it;
4. The campaign rewards screen has been completely redesigned:
a) Now the main reward - the car - is located in the center of the screen;
b) Operation statistics have been added: now you know how many credits you can still earn.

— Added new music:
1. A music track was recorded specifically for personal combat missions;
2. Added interactive musical accompaniment: the more tasks completed within one branch, the more intense the music.

A new way to receive reward cars.

“Award lists” have been removed, and instead “Components” of the vehicle have been introduced:

1. To receive a reward vehicle for an operation, you must collect all 5 components: hull, suspension, gun, power plant and radio;
2. Each component has its own branch of tasks in the operation:
a) Power plant - task branch for light tanks;
b) Chassis - task branch for medium tanks;
c) Hull (+ turret or wheelhouse) - task branch for heavy tanks;
d) Weapon - task branch for tank destroyers;
e) Radio station - task branch for self-propelled guns.
3. To receive the component, you must complete the final fifteenth task in the corresponding branch.

Order forms.

Added a new entity “Order Forms”:

1. To earn an order form, you must complete any finishing task of any branch with honors;
2. Order forms can be included (that is, applied) to any tasks. Thus:
a) The selected task will be automatically considered completed without distinction;
b) You will receive a reward for the main conditions of the task;
c) The spent order form will remain included in the task;
d) The pledged order form does not disappear, but is temporarily frozen until you take it back.
3. To pick up the enclosed order form, you must complete the task in which it is enclosed with honors. This way you get your order form back and can use it again.
4. The number of order forms required to be included in the tasks:
a) For any task from 1 to 14 - 1 order form;
b) In task 15 - 4 order forms.

To summarize: Order forms can be used to skip tasks that are difficult or uninteresting to you. And most importantly: you can place order forms in the final, fifteenth task in the branch, even if you have not yet completed the previous 14 tasks. Thus, you can instantly obtain the 5th missing component of the machine by completing 4 task branches with honors.

New rewards.

1. Added a new reward - stripes:
a) In each operation you can earn 2 stripes:
* The II degree badge is issued simultaneously with the receipt of the award vehicle;
* The 1st degree badge is awarded for completing all 75 tasks of a specific operation with distinction.
b) For completing all tasks in all operations you receive a special unique patch “Champion of the 1st Campaign”
2. Added a new reward - camouflage schemes:
a) In each operation you can earn a set of 3 (summer, winter, desert) unique camouflage schemes:
* A set of 3 camouflage schemes for a reward vehicle is issued for completing all 75 missions of the operation;
* The same set of circuits is unlocked for use on all vehicles of the same nation as the award vehicle for completing all 75 missions with distinction.

Changing task conditions

The objectives in each operation have been revised to increase the relevance of the main reward. For example, now all tasks from the “StuG IV” operation can be completed on Tier V vehicles, from the “T28 Heavy Tank Concept” operation - on Tier VII, and so on. However, the restrictions on participation have not changed. You can perform the tasks of any operation even at the X level of technology.

We also made the additional conditions in the final, fifteenth tasks of each branch more diverse. This is due to the fact that the additional reward for tasks that complete branches has become more valuable: Order Forms are now located there.

Note! If, according to the conditions of the task, you need, for example, to discover 5 vehicles in a battle, and you discovered 7, obviously, the task will be successful. This rule is valid for all numerical conditions.

Bonuses and medals

From 9.20.1, when receiving a medal from the “Epic Achievements” and “Battle Heroes” categories, the player will receive additional encouragement in the form of bonds. Bonuses will not be awarded for cumulative medals. The number of bonds is not final and may be changed. Read more.
