It would seem that everything should be simple, but for some users it is difficult to immediately navigate and figure out how to install new applications. But don't worry, it's really very simple.

We will talk about the easiest and fastest ways to install applications on Android .

Attention! On March 7, 2012, Google merged its online stores into one - Google Play. The process of installing applications has not changed from this, but the Android Market is now called Google Play.

Installing apps using the Android Market

The easiest way to find and install the applications you need is using a special online application for smartphones based on Android OS called "Android Market". You can easily find it on your phone by the icon you see just below.
Further:

  • launch Android Market
  • find the desired application using the sections or through the search

  • if necessary, get acquainted with the description of the application, screenshots, reviews

  • The app will start downloading and then it will be automatically installed.

Installing applications using the web version of Android Market

Installing applications on Android from a memory card (or how to install apk on Android)

In this case, you need the "AppsInstaller" application, which can be found on the Android Market. Download or copy to the memory card * .apk application files, run the Apps Installer. The application scans the memory card for *.apk files and displays a list of applications available for installation. Select the desired application, a few more seconds to install and you're done!

Installing the application using the file manager

To do this, you need a file manager for Android - ES File Explorer (ES Explorer), ASTRO File Manager, Glance, Explorer, X-plore, etc. Just like in the previous case, we download or copy the *.apk application for Android to a memory card, then we launch the file manager, find the copied file and run it - the installation begins.

One important point! >>> If you are installing the application not through the Android Market, then first you need to check the box Settings > Applications > Unknown sources (allow installation of applications received not from the market)

We hope now you understand how to install the application on android.

If you still have questions about installing applications, you can ask them in.

Applications for Android can diversify the functionality of the gadget, optimize its performance, and can also be used as entertainment. True, the list of applications installed by default on the device is small, so you will have to download and install new ones yourself.

There are several ways to install an APK file on Android. They do not require special knowledge and skills from the user, however, in some cases, you need to be careful not to accidentally bring a virus onto your device.

Method 1: APK File

Android installation files have an APK extension and are installed similarly to executable EXE files on computers running Windows. You can download the APK of this or that application from any browser for your phone or transfer it from a computer in any convenient way, for example, via a USB connection.

File download

Let's see how to download the APK file of the application through the device's standard browser:

System Setup

In order to avoid problems with blocking the installation of an application through a file from a third-party source, it is recommended to check the security settings and, if necessary, set acceptable values:

Application installation

After your device or SD card connected to it has desired file, you can start the installation:

Method 2: Computer

Installing applications from third-party sources through a computer can be more convenient than standard options. To successfully complete the installation procedure on a smartphone / tablet in this way, you need to log in to the same Google account on the device and on the computer. If the installation is from third-party sources, you will have to connect the device to the computer via USB.

Method 3: Play Market

This method is the most common, simple and safe. Play Market is a specialized app store (and not only) from official developers. Most of the programs presented here are distributed free of charge, but some may contain ads.

Instructions for installing applications in this way are as follows:

As you can see, installing applications on devices running the Android operating system is not difficult. You can use any suitable method, but be aware that some of them do not have a sufficient level of security.

On many smartphones, the Android operating system is installed, where initially there are a lot of icons behind which various applications are hidden. Before we figure out how to put an application on Android, let's figure out what an Android application means?

The Android application is a program with clear functionality, which is designed to work normally on a smartphone, taking into account its capabilities. For example, such a program can be a game, a State Services application, a Sberbank application, a VKontakte application, and numerous other Android applications.

On the other hand, an Android application is an "apk" file (from the English Android Package).

The "apk" file is an executive or installation file. It contains the application code and all the resources needed to get the application up and running. After going through the procedure for installing the apk file, you can use the application.

In accordance with the fact that the Android application is

  • or a normal application
  • or an application in the form of an apk file,

Then you can install the application on Android in two ways:

  1. like a regular application that is installed from the store, or
  2. as an application that is launched through the installation apk file.

Applications: pre-installed and those that are installed by the user

Devices running on operating system Android, already from the moment of purchase contain a large number of applications. Such applications are called differently:

  • preinstalled,
  • factory,
  • default applications
  • etc.

Among the preset software typically includes applications that provide antivirus protection, device navigation, geolocation, communication, and more. When the user gets comfortable with the functionality that has already been installed, he may need to add applications on his own, of his choice.

Users who have just started mastering Android often have a question: why do we need applications for Android, and even in such a quantity? Is it possible to do without them?

You can not install new applications, and turn off already pre-installed applications. Accordingly, in this case, the smartphone becomes a “morally obsolete” mobile device, which only allows you to call, send / receive SMS and see the time. Agree that such a “stripped down” functionality of a smartphone suits few people.

In any case, as you master it, there is a need to install any applications: VKontakte, Facebook, WhatsApp or others. As they say, appetite comes with eating. Android apps are easy to install, and if you don't like them, you can easily uninstall them. Below we will consider these actions in more detail using the example of an Android application for Yandex.Mail.

How to put an application on Android from stores: the first way

The word "shop" does NOT mean at all that the Android application will be paid. The store can be both free and paid apps.

The easiest way to install apps is from Google Play market. In the Play Store, it is convenient to search for the necessary applications and find out information about them. Installing applications from the Play Store is carried out by clicking on the "Install" button.

Consider how to download Yandex.Mail on Android. The application is supported on smartphones and tablets based on Android 4.0.3 and higher. To download other applications, the steps will be almost exactly the same.

The Play Market app is pre-installed for Android. Find the Play Market icon among Android Applications and open it:

Rice. 1. You can find the Play Market in Android Applications

Having opened the Play Market store, you need to look for the Yandex.Mail application. For this you can:

1 in fig. 2 - enter "Yandex mail" in the search bar and
2 in fig. 2 - the application will be found:

Rice. 2. Download Yandex Mail for Android from the Play Market

It is important to open the official Android applications, because, alas, there are many "fake" ones.

Open the Yandex.Mail application in the Google Play Market to download and install it:

Rice. 3. Install Yandex Mail on Android

Before installing the application on Android, for security purposes

Rice. 4. Accept permissions before downloading Yandex.Mail on Android

By clicking the "Accept" permission for Yandex.Mail, the application will be downloaded to Android. And you will be able to open mail or delete:

After the Yandex.Mail application is installed, you can later find the mail icon in Android Applications:

Rice. 6. Installed Yandex.Mail can be found in Applications

The Google Play Market is NOT the only store where you can download Android apps.

  • From domestic stores, Yandex Store can be distinguished.
  • The American Amazon AppStore is also widely known.

How to uninstall an Android app

It happens that they used the application for Android, but then for some reason it does not suit you and there is a desire to delete it. The pre-installed application can only be turned off, it cannot be deleted.

And those applications that the user installed himself are easy to remove. For example, consider how to remove the Yandex.Mail application.

Open "Settings" Android:

Rice. 7. Android settings can be found in Applications

In the Settings we find the "Device" tab and go to the Application Manager:

Rice. 8. Android Settings - Device - Application Manager

In the Application Manager, from the whole variety of applications, you need to find the Yandex.Mail application, which will need to be deleted:

Rice. 9. Find Yandex.Mail in the Application Manager

Before deleting Yandex.Mail, it is advisable to:

1 in fig. 10 - Clear cache,
2 - Clear data, then
3 in fig. 10 - Delete Yandex.Mail.

Rice. 10. Clear the cache, data and delete Yandex.Mail

Delete the Yandex.Mail application means that such an application will not be in the smartphone. But this does not mean at all that along with the application it will be deleted.

If you need to delete your Yandex.mail account, then I wrote about how to do it on a computer.

If there is no "Delete" button for any application, or this button is not pressed, then such an application cannot be deleted, because without it, Android will not be able to function normally.

How to put an application on Android: the second way is an apk file

Apps on the Android system can also be installed by directly clicking on the "apk" file, which was NOT obtained from the Play Store. Such a file can be delivered not immediately, but at a convenient time. In addition, such a file can be sent to a friend.

There is an Apkpure store where you can download an apk file for any Android application:

Please note that in order to install applications NOT from the Play Store, you will need to enable the "Unknown sources" option in the device's security settings on Android.

  • To do this, open the "Settings" of Android (Fig. 7),
  • in the Settings we find the “System” tab (2 in Fig. 11),
  • and in the System open "Security" (3 in Fig. 11):

In 2008, Google opened an online app store for Android. All you need to use it is a Gmail account and internet access. Meanwhile, there are other ways, and today we will talk about how to install the application on Android from a computer.

Web version of Google

You can use Google Play not only from a mobile device. By registering under your account, you can enter it through a computer. All the programs hosted in it are available in the web interface of the store, and the Good Corporation will automatically check compatibility with your devices. Using the search, select the application of interest and click "Install".

Google will verify that your password is correct by making sure that you are the one logged into your account, after which the window shown in the screenshot will appear. At the top, a selection menu is available. It displays the last used device, and a drop-down list allows you to select the one you need. After reviewing the permissions that the application requests, re-agree with the installation. After some time, the Android device will signal that the application requested in the store has been automatically installed.

Installation file

For various reasons, not all applications get into the official Google store. As a current example, let's recall the versions of the mobile client of one popular social network upgraded by enthusiasts, allowing you to download the music hosted in it on mobile device. The application has been removed from the store, but you can find it as an installation package. All programs that can be installed on devices using the "green robot" have the "apk" extension. After downloading such a file to your computer, you can use it for its intended purpose in several ways.

USB connection

Almost any mobile device can be connected to a computer using USB. To do this, you need to put it in debug mode, and in the "Security" settings section, check the possibility of installing from "unknown" sources.

This term refers to all software that gets on Android bypassing the Google Play store, which has not passed moderation in it or has been excluded. By copying the "apk" file to the device's memory, it can be opened in the built-in file manager and run the installation. Third-party file management applications such as ES File Explorer or mobile version Total Commander.

Recording to an SD card

When the SD card installed in the phone for memory expansion is used in file storage mode, it can be used to transfer applications from a computer to a mobile device. After connecting it through a card reader, in flash drive mode, write down the necessary installation packages and return it to the phone.

In the file manager, find the folder with the recorded files and start the installation using the operating system.

Windows installers

The presence of special utilities designed to work with "apk" files in Windows allows you to install third party application to your smartphone in two clicks. Pre-on Android device you will need to enable USB debugging in the options intended for developers and allow installation of software from "unknown" sources.

It will take longer to prepare the computer. First you need to install ADB drivers on it. You can get them as part of the Software Developer Kit for Android developers or by downloading a separate archive. Then the InstallAPK program is installed. If everything is done correctly, then the device is detected when connected via USB and you can work with it.

You can find pre-downloaded applications using the standard Windows Explorer and launch them like any other program by double-clicking.

adb driver and command line

If the previous method seemed complicated to you, you don’t even have to start this. Users who have worked with ADB and are familiar with the command Windows string can use it to install programs via PC. The method of connecting the device will be similar to the one already used. Mark on the smartphone necessary for interaction on USB cable points, and by running command line you get to work.

The screenshot shows the command given to install the hello_world.apk test application and the result of this operation. With a little skill, any necessary applications are installed in this way, while obtaining root access to the device is not required.

Results

Now that you know how to install applications on Android using a computer, you can choose the most convenient and least costly option for you.

Surely, many users of Android devices on board were interested in whether it is possible to install applications and games on a smartphone or tablet from a computer? We answer - there is an opportunity, and today we will tell you how to use it.

There are several ways to download programs or games for Android directly from a computer. Let's start with a method that is suitable for any device.

Method 1: Google Play Store web version

To use this method, you only need a modern browser to browse the Internet - for example, Mozilla Firefox will do.

  1. Follow this link . You will see the main page of the content store from Google.
  2. Using an Android device is almost impossible without a Good Corporation account, so you probably have one. You should log in using the button "To come in".

Be careful, use only the account that is registered for the device where you want to download the game or program!

  3. After logging in, either click on "Applications" and find what you need in the categories, or just use the search bar at the top of the page.
  4. Having found the one you need (for example, an antivirus), go to the application page. In it, we are interested in the block marked in the screenshot.

The necessary information is located here - warnings about the presence of advertising or in-app purchases, the availability of this software for the device or region, and, of course, the button "Install". Make sure that the selected application is compatible with your device and press "Install".

Also, the game or application that you want to download can be added to your wish list and installed directly from your smartphone (tablet) by going to the similar section of the Play Store.

  5. The service may require re-authentication (a security measure), so enter your password in the appropriate box.
  6. After these manipulations, the installation window will appear. In it, select the desired device (if more than one is linked to the selected account), check the list of permissions required by the application and click "Install" if you agree with them.
  7. In the next window just click "OK".

And on the device itself, the download and subsequent installation of the application selected on the computer will begin.
  8. The method is extremely simple, but in this way you can download and install only those programs and games that are in the Play Store. Obviously, the method requires an internet connection to work.

Method 2: InstALLAPK

This method is more complicated than the previous one, and involves the use of a small utility. It is useful when the computer already has an installation file for a game or program in APK format.

  1. After downloading and installing the utility, prepare the device. First of all, you need to enable "Developer Mode". You can do this in the following way - go to "Settings""About Device" and 7-10 times tap on the item "build number".

Please note that the options for enabling developer mode may vary depending on the manufacturer, device model and installed version OS.
  2. After such manipulation, the item should appear in the general settings menu. "For developers" or "Developer Options".

When you enter this item, check the box next to "USB Debugging".
  3. Then go to the security settings and find the item "Unknown sources", which should also be noted.
  4. After that, connect the device with a USB cable to the computer. The driver installation should begin. InstALLAPK requires ADB drivers to work correctly. What is it and where to get them - read below.
  5. After installing these components, run the utility. The window will look like this.

Click on the device name once. This message will appear on your smartphone or tablet.

Confirm by pressing "OK". You can also note "Always allow this computer" so as not to manually confirm each time.

  6. The icon next to the device name will change color to green - this means a successful connection. You can change the device name for convenience.
  7. Upon successful connection, navigate to the folder where the APK file is stored. Windows should automatically associate them with INSTALLAPK, so all you have to do is double-click on the file you want to install.
  8. Next is a rather non-obvious moment for a beginner. A utility window will open, in which you need to select the connected device with a single mouse click. Then the button becomes active. "Install" at the bottom of the window.

    Click on this button.

  9. The installation process will begin. Unfortunately, the program does not signal its completion in any way, so you have to check it manually. If the icon of the application that you installed appears in the device menu, it means that the procedure was successful, and InstALLAPK can be closed.
  10. You can start installing the next application or downloaded game, or simply disconnect the device from the computer.
  11. It is quite difficult at first glance, but only the initial setup requires so many actions - later it will be enough just to connect the smartphone (tablet) to the PC, go to the location of the APK files and install them on the device with a double click of the mouse. However, some devices, despite all the tricks, are still not supported. InstALLAPK also has alternatives, but the principles of operation of such utilities are no different from it.

The methods described above are the only workable options for installing games or applications from a computer today. Finally, we want to warn you - use either the Google Play Store to install the software, or
