How to set up graphics in cs go better. Setting up CSGO for optimal gaming. What is a config and how to add it to CS GO

Preface

After I wrote the very first guide, many people asked me the following: How can I set up CS:GO. In fact, CS:GO is more customizable than you might think. It won't improve your skill, but it will help visually. It will become more convenient.

Subscribe to my WorkShop, I upload guides almost every day. May the skill be with you.

1) Launch options

The easiest. Configured via Steam - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the library (Right click on it) - Properties - Launch options.

And so, this is not 1.6, not Source, it has its own rules. Commands like -noforcemaccel do not work, you can safely remove them.

Novid - Just removes the introductory logo. Reduces loading time for CS:GO
-threads 4 - Uses 4 cores in CS:GO. Choose yours: Open the device manager, open the processors tab and see the quantity. Threads are also taken into account there, but CS:GO must also work through threads, so we count and insert.
-high - Launches the game with high priority. Useful for those who get ~260-280 fps instead of the stable 300. Let’s enter it in, it might help. I don’t recommend writing to those whose CS:GO is already a little slow.
-freq 120 - Depressurization. From 60 to 120, depending on monitor support. The bigger, the better.
-tickrate 128 - Sets the tickrate. Tickrate - client/server update rate per second. Let's say it costs 64, it is updated 64 times per second. But 128 is the highest value, it doesn’t work everywhere. It all depends on the server. If you only play MM (MatchMaking), then you don’t need this command at all.
-w 1280 -h 960 - Sets the resolution. w = width, h = height, width and height respectively (In pixels).
-console - Enables the console in the game.

A small note: if you have commands that are not saved via the console, you can add them to the launch parameters via +. As an example: +rate 128000.

2) Parameters of the game itself.

Now from the simplest to the more difficult.

Mouse:
m_customaccel 0/1/2/3 - acceleration. If you read my guides, then 0 will completely disable acceleration in the game (In the case of m_rawinput 1, with 0 you need to disable it in Windows as well).
m_rawinput 1/0 - mouse reading mode. When set to 1, it skips processing through Windows and processes directly in the game; when set to 0, it processes in Windows and then the final result is sent to the game. The difference is felt, there are no comrades in taste and color.
m_mouseaccel1 0 - Mouse acceleration. Disable immediately.
m_mouseaccel2 0 - Mouse acceleration. Disable immediately.
m_mousespeed 0 - Mouse acceleration. Disable immediately.

sensitivity 0/? - Mouse sensitivity. We select an ideal and play.
zoom_sensitivity_ratio_mouse 0.8/1 - Zoom sensitivity. We select which one is needed, half use 0.8, half 1. Again, it is better to select the ideal.

Interface:
I’ll give you an example of my settings (!):

cl_hud_background_alpha 0.300000 - Transparency of the HUD (Interface) in the game.
cl_hud_bomb_under_radar 1 - Whether the bomb is under the radar or not.
cl_hud_color 8 - HUD color. From 0 to 9.
cl_hud_healthammo_style 0 - HUD style of health/ammo, etc. (lower part)
cl_hud_playercount_pos 0 - Position of the number of players (Bottom/Top)
cl_hud_playercount_showcount 1 - How to show the number of players (Numbers/visually)
cl_hud_radar_scale 1.1 - Radar size.
hud_scaling - HUD size in general. From 0.05 to 0.95
cl_color 3 - Your color in the lobby.
cl_radar_always_centered 1 - The radar always centers you.
cl_radar_icon_scale_min 0.6 - Radar size.
cl_radar_rotate 1 - Whether the radar rotates
cl_radar_scale 0.5 - Radar size (Inside)
cl_radar_square_with_scoreboard 1 - Radar type for tabulation.

Video settings:
It is better to set the brightness to maximum, Monitor mode. On TV, all the textures are too white, nothing is visible.
Disable energy saving mode, FPS drops.
You need shadows; they should be visible when the player attacks (to take it to prefire). Set from medium to high. Or low, but sometimes you won't see what you need.
The rest can be left at low, it is not critical.
Multi-core processing can increase FPS if enabled, but adds mouse lag. You can turn it off, but the CS will definitely lag.
Filtering/multiple sampling. Responsible for angularity and pixelation in the CS itself. The more we set, the more it loads our video card. I recommend either turning it off, setting the filtering to trilinear, or setting it to 4x, while turning on FXAA.

Always turn off Vsync (Vertical Sync), it has a lot of latency! Never turn it on in FPS games.

Sound
Do not set the sound to 5.1/7.1/4 speakers. Use either headphones or 2 speakers mode. Turn off the music in the game, it interferes with the sounds of footsteps.

3) Modding

Let's start with the fonts:

Of course it doesn’t work well with Russian, but in principle everything is quite nice.
You can download it here.

Movement

Almost all professional players use standard WASD, CTRL, Shift, Space, however some, including me, prefer to jump using wheel mouse (down or up).

Purchase

I prefer to use purchase bindings, For example:

  • bind “kp_end” “buy ak47; buy m4a1”
  • bind “kp_downarrow” “buy deagle”
  • bind “PGDN” “buy awp”
  • bind “kp_5” “buy tec9; buy fiveseven”
  • bind “kp_rightarrow” “buy ump; buy ump45”
  • bind “kp_home” “buy vesthelm”
  • bind “kp_uparrow” “buy galil; buy famas"
  • bind “kp_pgup” “buy vest”
  • bind “kp_multiply” “buy smokegrenade”
  • bind “kp_minus” “buy flashbang”
  • bind “kp_plus” “buy hegrenade”
  • bind “kp_enter” “buy molotov; buy incgrenade”
  • bind “kp_del” “buy defuser”

This allows me shop faster and safer, but some players use the button B and numbers, or click on the weapon.

Using grenade binds

Highly recommend bind smoke, flash drive, haeshka and molotov to different buttons, because this allows you to get them out very quickly, without having to switch to each of the grenades. This saves a lot of time. My binds:

  • bind “mouse4” “use weapon_flashbang”
  • bind “mouse5” “use weapon_hegrenade”
  • bind “4” “use weapon_smokegrenade”
  • bind “t” “use weapon_molotov; use weapon_incgrenade"

My graphics settings

I only set the shadows to "high" because other settings don't really affect anything, and "high" shadows sometimes allow you to see the enemy's shadow in advance, which gives an advantage. You can play with high settings if you want the skins to look shiny, but for us professional players it doesn't matter, so we prefer FPS rather than shiny skins. Some players use anti-aliasing and texture filtering.

About permission

Most pro players use 1024x768 with black bars, but I think that's just a preference. I like black bars because they allow better concentrate on the screen. At the same time, the eyes do not run wild when, for example, you need to look at the radar. Stretched resolution is also a good idea, and some players like it better. I believe this is just a preference. To each his own.

About sound

The only thing I can recommend here is use music. Why? When there are 10 seconds left on the bomb timer, you will hear music and know how much time you have left. Even if someone talks about not enough time, you will know that you still have time to defuse the bomb thanks to music.

Radar Settings

I think it's important to see at least half of the radar so you can easily see where everything is.

Aim

I can't say much about scopes because everyone uses a different one depending on their preference, with some changing them every day and others using the same scope for years.

Sensitivity

Most pro players use 400 DPI or 800 DPI. The sensitivity varies between 1.2 – 3.6 (400 DPI), you can also change the zoom sensitivity - I recommend changing it quite a bit, from 0.8 to 1.2.

27.02 2018

Every CS player dreams of being like his idol and reaching heights. To start improving your game, first of all, you need to pay attention to the settings. If you want to learn in detail about the configs of players and the components they use, then our article will be useful to you.

  1. Best pro CS GO players
  2. Settings like esports athletes
  3. Popular devices for CS GO

Best pro CS GO players

Have you been wondering what influences the game of professionals, what devices they use, what mouse sensitivity is set, how they manage to achieve such frags?

It’s worth taking a closer look at the settings they prefer to set. Each of them is special and the parameters set are individual for each.

Configs for CS:GO are files that contain game settings. They can be easily reconfigured to make control easier and more convenient for the user.

  1. coldzera Marcelo David
  2. ScreaM Adil Benrlitom
  3. Stewie2k Jake Yip
  4. NiKo Nikola Kovac
  5. KennyS Kenny Schrub

Each of them has unique cfg, they are also set depending on their role in the team. Let's say avapers prefer the lowest mouse sensitivity, but campers have it quite high. So for ScreaM it reaches 2.5, and there are those who have only 0.34.

When choosing parameters, it is worth considering the playing style that is used.

Game settings for eSports players

Of course, the configs of famous players are very popular, because they are perfectly optimized for CS GO. When you watch tournaments, the question always arises: why do eSports players have no lags, FPS is always perfect, how can you achieve such a result yourself? Today, all the information is in the public domain, no one bothers you to just open a website with configs, for example, the KSGOpedia website, where you can select your favorite player and download his settings.

It is worth noting that all players have a maximum tickrate of 128, and the update frequency is 144.

The scope takes special attention; if you want to improve your level of play, then it will play a significant role in this.

For example, let's take another famous player - Stewie2K. He has the following indicators:

  • Size: 2
  • Style: 4
  • Distance: -1
  • Thickness: 1
  • Stroke: included
  • Dot: absent
  • Transparency: 200

But remember, you can make changes to the in-game settings at any time, because it’s not a fact that someone else’s cfg will be perfect for you; first of all, you should be comfortable.

And the players themselves often experiment and set other parameters, do not forget to check the sites where you monitor information. Usually changes appear after major tournaments.

When installing an updated config, it is advisable to place yours in a separate folder, so that if something happens, everything can be returned to its place. Or you can even use two different configurations; they can be easily swapped through the console. This will only take a few seconds.

Popular devices for CS GO

Among other things, there are also devices that are popular and are companions of players at various championships.

So, if you are looking to upgrade, there are some companies you should consider.

Computer mouse

Choosing a mouse is not easy; the variety of models is very large. Pros prefer to use Zowie, Logitech and Razer. Zowie has a very large assortment, although they are not much different inside, they have a wide selection of sizes, choosing something for yourself is not a problem. When choosing a rug for yourself, remember that it must be of the appropriate size so that your movements are not constrained in any way.

Headset

HyperX simply captured this niche; almost every player has headphones from this brand, but this is not strange. Comfortable ear pads, excellent sound, assembly - all this will not go unnoticed. It is also worth paying attention to Logitech, which are not much inferior to their predecessor.

Keyboard

Choosing a keyboard is a little more difficult, there is a wide variety, but it is also worth paying attention to Logitech and SteelSeries. They are most common among teams. But some people also prefer little-known companies. For example, rain uses Xtrfy.

Monitor

There is nothing to say here, almost everyone uses BenQ, more than 70% of players. It’s not for nothing that they position themselves as gaming ones. Monitor settings are designed specifically for gaming. A very small number preferred Asus. The most popular resolution type is 1024x768.

You are unlimited in your capabilities, you can follow the example of a famous person, or you can assemble your own unique set of devices and customize them for yourself and your game.

Many of you have probably heard about launch options in cs go, but not everyone knows what they are for and which of them can really benefit your PC. What are launch options? These are commands that tell the game to perform some action when loading or to launch the game with certain settings. Good launch settings will not only ensure a smooth roller, but will also make your life easier. For example, you can change the screen resolution when opening cs go or skip the introductory video (to save time).

CS GO launch settings - useful commands

  • -novid – disables the introductory video when entering the game
  • -w 640 -h 480 – you can set the screen resolution at startup. Instead of 640 and 480, put your values
  • -console – turns on the console in the game
  • -freq 120 – sets the monitor to the required screen refresh rate. It only makes sense to use it if you have a 120 or 144 Hz monitor.
  • -high – starts the game in high priority mode. This may help players with weak computers. It makes no sense to use it if you have a powerful PC.
  • -threads 4 – tell the game how many cores you have. If you have two cores, then instead of four we put two; with six cores we set it to six. Look in the game to see if this team has any impact. If not, you don’t have to register
  • -fullscreen – launch cs go in full screen mode
  • -language English – sets the language. At the same time, you may have steam in Russian, and cs go in English
  • +rate 124000 - maximum amount of data received by the host (bits/sec.)
  • +cl_cmdrate 128 – maximum number of packets sent to the server
  • +cl_updaterate 128 – maximum requested package updates from the server
  • -noaafonts – disables antialiasing. Helps increase FPS in cs go
  • +exec autoexec.cfg – launch a pre-configured config
  • -window - to run the game in windowed mode
  • -noborder – launches cs go in windowed mode without a border
  • -low – you can set not only high priority, but also low
  • -dxlevel 81 – setting DirectX to version 8.1
  • -dxlevel 90 - setting DirectX to version 9
  • -heapsize 262144 – this parameter allocates 512MB of RAM
  • -heapsize 524288 - allocates 1GB of RAM
  • -heapsize 1048576 - allocates 2GB of RAM
  • -noaafonts – this command disables screen font smoothing
  • -refresh 100 is a special parameter for changing Hertz for HL2 Engine monitors.
  • -soft – enables CS in graphical mode Software
  • -d3d – enables CS in Direct3D mode
  • -gl – enables CS in Open GL graphics mode
  • -nojoy - disables the joystick
  • -noipx – disables the LAN protocol
  • -noip - removes the IP address without the ability to connect to servers
  • -nosound - turns off the sound in cs go
  • -nosync - disables vertical sync
  • -console – provides access to the developer console
  • -dev - enables the developer mod
  • -zone # - allows you to allocate more memory to files such as autoexec.cfg, etc.
  • -safe – allows you to run cs go in safe mode plus disables audio
  • -autoconfig – resets video settings to standard
  • -condebug – saves logs to console.log file
  • -nocrashdialog - to cancel the display of some errors (memory could not be read)
  • -toconsole - to launch the game engine in the console if the map is not defined with +map
  • +a +r_mmx 1 - to launch the game using a cvar command on the command line (instead of cfg)
  • -tickrate 128 – server update rate
  • -m_rawinput – whether the Windows settings will affect the mouse sensor
  • noforcemspd - mouse speed is the same as in Windows
  • -noforcemaccel - disable mouse acceleration
  • -noforcemparms - use mouse button settings as in Windows

Of course, 80% of the teams described above are for some cybernerds. I listed them just in case. And I recommend borrowing the optimal launch parameters for cs go from the Navi team.

Launch options for professional players

Pro players certainly know what needs to be written down there. It's unlikely they're missing out on anything. Let's see what Natus Vincere players have there. Launch options for top Natus Vincere CS:GO players

Launch parameters for Arseny "ceh9" Trinozhenko:

W 1280 -h 720 -novid -freq 144 +rate 128000 +cl_interp 0.01 +cpu_frequency_monitoring 2 +engine_no_focus_sleep convar 1 cl_obs_interp_enable 0 +cl_hideserverip -console

Yes, my roster is old, but essentially all eSports players have similar teams + they change them periodically. So there’s no need to worry too much. Take the one you like best.

How to set launch parameters in cs go - step-by-step instructions (in pictures)

Yes, I forgot the most important thing - to tell you how to install them (or rather, where to register them). To set launch parameters in cs go, you need to right-click in steam, select the properties tab and switch to the tab called “set launch parameters”, as shown in the figure below:

Popular questions

Let's quickly run through some common questions you may have.

Why do you need launch options?

For comfort. In fact, you don't have to use them at all. I personally haven't used them. I had enough of those in the game.

How to set screen resolution through cs go launch options.

This is done using the command -w 640 -h 480, where instead of these numbers you can put any resolution you need.

How to run cs go in a window

Commands that allow you to open cs go in windowed mode (this can be done in the settings inside the game or without entering the game, by adding the following to the properties):

  • -windowed –w 1024 –h 768 – run in windowed mode, where w is the width and h is the height
  • -noborder – Windows will not outline the game window with borders. It only makes sense to use it when running in a window. In this mode you can move it. To do this, use –x (distance from the left edge of the screen) and –y (distance from the top edge of the screen)

What to write in cs go launch parameters

You don't have to write anything at all. I've played like this all my life and it hasn't caused any problems. Yes, a weak PC, low FPS, etc. all this is unpleasant. But essentially there is only one way to influence them – updating the hardware. So don't worry too much. If you have a weak PC, I recommend that you first and then write in the console:

Novid -console -freq 60 +rate 128000 +cl_cmdrate 128 +cl_updaterate 128 -threads 4 -high +cl_interp 0 +cl_interp_ratio 1+fps_max (Your value)

Standard launch parameters for cs go

To return standard rate values, enter the following:

rate 80000; cl_updaterate 64; cl_cmdrate 64; cl_interp 0.03125; cl_interp_ratio 2; cl_lagcompensation 1

All this must be installed for the comfortable and proper operation of your computer.

Simplex UpdatePack7R2

WARNING!!! System malfunctions may occur due to the version of your “licensed” Windows.

It made everything quite easy to download and install. During installation, reboots are possible - this is normal. But you will get a completely updated Windows 7 and will be able to play in leagues with their anti-cheats without any problems or errors.

Setting up CS:GO #2 Graphics

In #2 I will talk about graphics in CS:GO.

Graphics settings I use:

And now in more detail why they are like that.

Brightness- responsible for brightness. Set to 1.6, as it allows you to see better in dark places

Color Mode- responsible for brightness. Displayed on computer monitor. If brightness is not enough for you, then set it to Television.

Apect Ratio- is responsible for the aspect ratio. Set to widescreen 16:9, since the viewing angle is larger, I play the role of a trainer, I am a collector of information on the map. I recommend 4:3 with black bars because the viewing angle is smaller and the game runs smoother, but you have to check positions more and are greatly distracted by these bars.

Resolution-responsible for permission. Set to 1920x1080, since this is the maximum that the monitor supports.

Display Mode- is responsible for the window itself. Set to FullScreen, since in windowed modes the ability to adjust brightness is lost.

Laptop Power Settings– is responsible for the energy-saving mode for laptops. Listed on Diasabled because it's not a laptop. Yes, and it is disabled on the laptop.

Global Shadow Quality- responsible for shadows. It is set to High, since at Low, shadows from players are no longer visible in the distance.

Model/Texture Detail- responsible for detailing textures. I set it to High because I don’t like unclear textures. For low-performance computers, I recommend setting it to Low.

Effect Detail- Responsible for detailing effects. Set to Low, since the quality of smokes and explosions from grenades decreases and we can quickly notice the enemy through them.

Shader Detail- responsible for the quality of lighting and shadows. Set to Low because glare appears.

Multicore Rendering- is responsible for rendering between cores. Set to Enabled. If processing is disabled, the number of processed frames per second may increase, but the quality of the game graphics will decrease.

Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode- is responsible for the “ladder” effect on models. Set to None, as it greatly affects the video card, thereby reducing FPS.

Texture Filtering Mode- is responsible for filtering textures. I set it to Anisotropic 16X because I don’t like unclear textures. For low-performance computers, I recommend setting it to Low.

FXAA Anti-Aliasing- is responsible for the “ladder” effect on models. Set to Enabled. A simpler anti-aliasing mode.

Wait for Vertical Sync- is responsible for gaps in the image. It is set to Disabled because unrealistic smoothness appears and the mouse is no longer convenient to control.

Motion Blur- is responsible for blurring the picture when turning. Set to Disabled, because when rotating it is very difficult to notice a smeared enemy.

Now let's talk about the settings of the video card itself. To do this, we need to go to the control panel of your video card. In my case it is Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4G.

In the "Manage 3D Parameters" tab you need to set the following parameters:
I found them to be the most playable.

There is also a way to increase the brightness in the game. In the Nvidia Control Panel there is a tab called "Adjust Desktop Color Settings". In it we set the point to “Use Nvidia settings” and set the gamma and brightness as we want.
Next, let's talk about such a thing as SweetFX. To show you what this is, I’ll show you a comparative screenshot.
This thing is completely safe and you will not be given a VAC Ban for it.
It is very easy to install. Follow the link to the site
, download the archive. We install everything from the folder in the archive at this path G:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive. SweetFX is installed.
If SweetFX does not start, then you should disable all anti-aliasing options in the video settings.
Also, if desired, sweetfx can be enabled/disabled in the game using the "Scroll lock" key.

Setting up CS:GO #3 Config

In #3 I will talk about configs in CS:GO.

What is a config? A config is a collection of settings for your game written as commands in one file.

How to find your config in CS:GO? The answer to this question is very simple. your config is contained in this path G:\Steam\userdata\354220510\730\local\cfg.

354220510 - token from your trade link (partner= 354220510 &token=OOW0IAN5)

730 - CS:GO number

So we figured out where our .cfg is. Now is the time to set it up.
Now I will talk about the most important config commands that should be registered for everyone.

List of main required commands:

  • cl_interp "0"
