One of them sounds like this: Yandex, you honey! This simple phrase aroused the interest of users, because out of nothing to do, some people ask such queries in search engines.

What do optimizers do in general and why do they use such keywords in texts? All their activities are aimed at promoting the resource.

In fact, everything is very simple, keywords are used to bring articles to the first positions in the search results, and this is done to receive additional or even main traffic, and accordingly, to increase profits.

And the whole point is that such “crazy requests” give good traffic!

There are often funny search queries on the Internet, the meaning of which may not be understood the first time. “Yandex is a honey, but Google is better” – I came across a similar construction recently. Not only the topic itself is unusual, but also its popularity - several thousand requests monthly.

The construction of the phrase bears little resemblance to the slang of webmasters or programmers; rather, it resembles the casual chatter of teenage girls. Obviously, it has nothing to do with website promotion. The unusualness interested me, and I decided to delve into the topic and look for where the legs “grow” from. I would like to understand what motivates people who enter something like this into the search bar.

They search for this topic on the Internet a lot, they want to find something about it, let’s look below while I give the numbers for related queries that are parts or derivatives of the main one (I checked the phrases in quotes - an exact match):

  • Yandex you honey – 23 thousand requests
  • Google you honey - 6 thousand requests

Interestingly, powerful surges are observed twice a year - in early spring and early summer. During these periods, people are interested in the “honeymoons” of Yandex and Google several times more often.

What are they searching for?

In order to understand the origins of the request, it was enough to scour the search results for this keyword in Yandex. As I expected, the key is of artificial origin and “Yandex, you honey” began to gain popularity after the corresponding answer appeared in the search results.

This is a rare case when it is not demand that creates supply, but supply that leads to an increase in demand.

The situation is as follows - the site hogwartsnet.ru prepared a page with the text “I’m not your sweetheart, you stupid bastard” and optimized it for the query “Google you sweetheart.” As a result, a joke was born in which the user's request showed a boorish answer in the search results, creating the impression that the search engine was conducting a conversation through artificial intelligence. I don’t want to evaluate the level of culture of the authors, I would have implemented something more decent and humorous, but that’s how it happened.

Of course, Google had nothing to do with this dialogue, but this “Question-Answer” link aroused the interest of users. The viral effect gave a good increase in the frequency of the request and traffic on it.

Inspired by the results obtained in Google, the author of the blog cms-all.ru/interesnoe/82-ya-tebe-ne-lapochka.html (I found his article as a primary source) decided to pull off a similar trick with Yandex, simply replacing the name of the search engine in request.

An unusual response appeared and users began to enter the desired query to see it - the scheme worked.

Why are such requests needed?

These keywords do not carry any practical benefit for the Internet and no intellectual load. They are an example of how traffic is made out of thin air. There were no sweethearts of Google and Yandex on the network and there was no traffic for them, materials appeared on sites - users appeared who wanted to find them.

By the way, this is one of the marketing options. A typical capitalist consumer economy similarly creates demand for many unnecessary goods, which previously everyone could do without and did not suffer. Someone came up with a nonsense called “selfie”, now selfie sticks pump money out of the pockets of stupid hamsters - an example of how money is made out of nothing.

Returning to traffic. A similar method can be used to virally promote your site in search engines. You need to come up with an interesting “Question - Answer” combination, prepare an answer in the snippet and on the page of your website, and then spread the word about your joke - if it works, you can gather a lot of new visitors.

This promotion method is simpler than website promotion for existing high-frequency queries, since everything created earlier has competition. By creating interest, you receive an unoccupied request, for which no one else claims traffic. It’s easy to get into the TOP of the search engine.

The only point worth paying attention to is that this traffic will be empty for any topics except entertainment - there are a lot of visitors, but there are no sales from it, because they are not targeted people.

Yandex and Google are sweethearts, but who is better?

Taking this opportunity and the topic raised, I will express my opinion - Yandex is definitely better as a search engine (forgive me Google). No matter how much I tried to get used to Google when it was fashionable, I couldn’t get used to it - it doesn’t give me good answers to what I’m looking for - I only get crap. And the archaic design from the 90s is not comfortable for me. Yashka, on the contrary, does everything for people.

Therefore, I use Google only when I need to look for something on the internet in foreign languages. Which search do you prefer?

It’s strange, but I thought that everyone had forgotten about this stupid and useless request a long time ago. Three years have passed since I wrote an article for this request, and it is still in the TOP3 for the request “Yandex you honey.” These search engines are strange, but as they say, if there is a search query, then there must be a search answer.

Not much of a backstory about how it came to my mind to push Yandex’s sweetie onto the Internet. I in no way claim that it was I who came up with this stupid request, but it is my merit in promoting it to the masses.

And it was like this. I came across this request purely by chance, and an idea came to my mind - why not write an article about it and bring it to the TOP. By the way, there was no competition at all at that time. I wrote a rather primitive article, spammed it with the key “Yandex, you honey,” and that’s it, after a while the first site in Yandex was mine!

Well, then the SEO people woke up and decided to push me a little, which I actually didn’t resist. Traffic for the Yandex request you honey was useless, the main contingent was schoolboys who only wanted swear words and boobs.

And now to the heart of the matter, I looked into Yanedex Wordstat and gasped! It turns out that in addition to the main request about Yandex, there is a lot of interesting junk that is also being searched for. And so, I don’t have enough patience for all the requests, I’ll voice 5 pieces. Here we go!

To be honest, I was blown away! That these people have nothing better to do? But as they say about tastes, you can’t argue, although you should. I, personally, am interested in another “query”: what people want to know when they type a query into the search bar.

There are very few people who want to apologize to Yandez. But, as always, I am concerned about a completely different question: why do people ask Yandex for forgiveness? Although it’s just a matter of chance that they may have once offended the search engine, but how can you offend Yandex?

There are still a dozen and a half variations of this request left, they are less interesting and with less frequency. If you're interested, you can see for yourself. Perhaps you will select a request for your site, but in principle there is not much competition, but such a request is of no use. And perhaps you will find a use for such traffic.

Sometimes, when searching, you come across results that make no sense. Regular users, I imagine, would enter a different query in this case, but users like us, who are mired in search and search engine optimization, continue to scratch their heads.
