How to set file time in total commander. How to use the Total Commander file manager? Column Sets tab

Total Commander program is a file manager that allows you to work with files on your computer. For example, Total Commander completely replaced the standard Windows Explorer for me. Now I don’t go into “My Computer”, I don’t access disks using standard methods, I don’t open folders, as most users do, through a standard explorer.

Now I do all this with the help Total Commander programs. It allows me to navigate all my local drives in a split second, access any folders, and most importantly, move files from one folder to another much faster. This is only a tiny percentage of what this program can do.

In general, if you opened this lesson yourself, then you probably have an idea of what kind of program this is. Once upon a time I described its charms in more detail. You can read this in the article:

I also plan to write a big tutorial on setting up this file manager.

And today I will tell you, how to install Total Commander to your computer or any other. First, we need an installation file, download Total Commander from the Russian version of the official website.

Now let's proceed directly to installing Total Commander.

After downloading, we should have a file on our computer that we need double click left mouse button to launch.

And in the window that opens, we are asked to select the program language. We indicate “Russian” and click the “Next” button.

Now we are offered to install all other languages as well, in case we want to change it in the settings, then change it. I don’t need this, Russian is enough. So I set the switch to “No” and click “Next”. I recommend you do the same.

Then we need to select the folder to install Total Commander, or leave it as default. I’ll do just that, I won’t change anything, I’ll just click “Next”.

The program is being installed. Usually fast.

After which they tell us “ Installation completed successfully».

A shortcut to launch Total Commander should appear on your desktop. I have it next to the program itself that I downloaded. To launch, click on the shortcut twice with the left mouse button.

The program is paid, but if we don’t buy it, it will still work for a month, but every time it starts, it will forgive us to press a button with a number in a special window - 1, 2 or 3.

Hello, dear readers of the blog site. Today we will talk about such an indispensable program for any computer user (and webmaster, in particular) as Total Commander. Probably, for many people the presence of this file manager on their computer has already become a vital necessity, and for some it (nee Windows Commander) is a kind of portal from which they start working on their PC.

Do you use Total or its analogues in your work? Are you using standard Windows Explorer? It’s strange, but also understandable at the same time. What an unprepared user sees immediately after installing this program on his computer may puzzle him somewhat.

A bunch of “extra” information about files, a lot of incomprehensible drop-down menus and not the best (in my opinion) initial set of settings inevitably lead to the user making the wrong conclusion (the explorer is a must-have, but it’s not clear what). With this article I want to try to show the potential of the commander and tell how exactly he can be made “handsome”.

History of Total Commander, its installation and nuances

First, let's dive a little into the history of the creation and development of this file manager, and then we'll see what exactly can be molded from this initially not very pretty, but at the same time brilliant creation. In general, the idea of a two-window option was implemented almost at the dawn of the computer era.

Probably, some of the readers still remember Norton Commander, which for many was a window into the file world of Dos. Users opened all programs, games and other things from this manager. Well, and, accordingly, they copied, deleted, replaced and moved. Two-window operating mode was very convenient and did not require the use of a mouse to perform various operations, because the corresponding hot keys were assigned for this.

Then, with the advent of the first versions of the Windows graphical operating system, the explorer integrated into the “windows” began to become more and more widespread. But, alas, it was not so convenient. It focused on using the mouse (selection, dragging, right-click context menu) and most importantly, it moved away from the two-window operating mode.

People suffered, groaned, but continued to use Windows Explorer, because they did not know that there were alternative options, and when they found out, it was already too late, because they got used to it. It was to eliminate this shortcoming that two-window file manager programs began to appear under Windows, very reminiscent in their appearance of the blue windows of Norton Commander.

The most prominent representatives were the still existing Far Manager and Volkov Commander. In appearance they were very reminiscent of the classic Norton. It was these programs that I used at the beginning of my acquaintance with Windows, because Explorer seemed to me then (and seems now) to be a bad decision from all points of view.

But then I decided to try Windows Commander(Until 2002, Total was called exactly that, but then the small softies asked the developer to remove the word they had patented from the name). Actually, this is where the era of my mastery of this file manager begins.

Total Commander is, in my opinion, a very good solution, because Far Manager and Volkov, with their DOS appearance and graphics, made me sad and dissonant with the general surroundings of the “windows”.

Well, when I began to slowly delve into its functionality and feel the full power of its limitless capabilities and settings, it actually became the main program on my computer for me.

Do you know why Total Commander evokes so many enthusiastic responses from those users who were able to comprehend it? But because it allows you to save time on routine operations (we most often save, copy, delete or move objects or folders on the computer) and in addition, it makes it possible to do in two clicks what you could only dream of, seeing the powerlessness of the explorer the challenges ahead of you.

So, the first release of the program (then with the word Windows in the title) was released back in 1993. And for almost two decades now, it has very firmly occupied a leading position in its niche. During this time, a lot of Total clones appeared (among which many were freely distributed), which were no worse, and in some places even better than the original, but for the reasons given below, the original still remains the ideal for many.

This is largely determined by the force of habit, but the main factor in such vitality has become availability of a huge number of plugins(add-ons) for Commander, which allow you to implement an unimaginably wide range of tasks using this file manager. Among the plugins, both green lamers and incredibly smart guru-programmers will find something interesting for themselves.

Even the developer of this miracle, Christian Giesler, said in an interview that initially he did not believe in such a power of plugins (although their support was initially added to the manager) and much of what is now implemented in Total through plugins would never have come to his head. A little later we will talk about where you can download the extensions you need, what types they are divided into and how they can be installed.

Also, the popularity of Total Commander is largely determined by the very weak degree of protection of its paid nature (in RuNet, until recently, it was considered “cool” when your computer was full of expensive software). Yes, I forgot to say that this program is distributed under a Shareware license, which means it can be used for free for a month, after which you will have to pay about four dozen dollars.

But in fact, even after a month, the program will work properly, except that only before starting the program will continue to ask you to press one of three buttons:

Actually, it’s probably worth saying that you can download the current version of Total Commander (infinite trial) on the page official website. At the moment this is the 32 and 64 bit version of 8.01 final. In fact, there is not much difference in them, but users think rather inertly and for a 64-bit operating system they definitely need the same number of bit programs.

Since 2009, the distribution of this file manager has already included support for a Russian-language interface (help, however, will still be in English - to help you). During installation, you will be asked about the language you want and whether you want to install all other language files.

Full Russian translation with the Russian help for the Commander (there is a “Help” button at the top right) can be downloaded from the official website. When you try to enter this archive through Total (this manager allows you to enter archives like regular folders), it will prompt you to install this Russification:

If you don’t want to install Russian help, then you can use its online version - a site with Russian help for Total Commander.

It is worth noting that when installing the program to select a folder configuration file locations, you will need to click on the “Set path to ini files” button (when changing the operating system or transferring the settings of your Commander to another computer, it is very convenient to simply copy these ini files, and not remember where and what you configured there twenty years ago ).

Yes, and your friends, relatives or acquaintances will be able to install Total and immediately replace the existing wincmd.ini with your own(and copy the folder with your plugins to expand the functionality), thereby demonstrating not the ugly default Commander, but the masterpiece of usability and functionality you created.

Immediately after installation, the program window will look something like this:

I don’t like the bold font used by default, I don’t like that the detailed display mode is selected, which simply scares the unprepared user with the abundance of information. I also don’t like the directory names in square brackets, the display of extensions separately from files, the paucity of the toolbar, and much more. My current version of the ideal Total Commander looks like this:

In the left column you will find a list of systematic sections with plugins, by going to which you will see their detailed descriptions, screenshots and download links. This site, although it looks a little abandoned, nevertheless provides quite a lot of useful information.

In general, plugins for Total Commander are divided into several types. This becomes clear from the corresponding program settings tab:

I have quite a lot of extensions installed, for example, for the internal viewer (F3 - the viewing window will open in an external tab or Ctrl+Q - the file will be viewed in the adjacent panel). These plugins have the extension .WLX and you can see all extensions of this type installed by you by clicking the “Configure” button in the appropriate area:

Such an abundance of plugins in my Total Commander allows, by selecting the desired file in the panel and pressing Ctrl+Q, see its contents on the next panel, be it video, audio, Word document or any other object of a common format. If you use the arrows on the keyboard to navigate through files, then, thanks to these plugins, their contents will be quickly displayed in the adjacent viewing window.

In general, my version of the program is crammed with all sorts of extensions, even beyond measure, but the supply, as they say, does not break the pocket. In addition to the site mentioned just above, plugins can also be downloaded from the TotalCMD.net website.

If you are too lazy to look for suitable extensions yourself, then you can use my plugins. True, your Total settings will be reset and replaced with mine. If this suits you, or you are able to rip out the lines related to plugins from my Wincmd.ini.

All you have to do is unpack it and copy the Plugins folder to the root directory of your manager (totalcmd), and drop the Wincmd.ini configuration file (installed plugins are registered in it) either into the root of the totalcmd folder, or into the location that you specified for storing Wincmd when installing Commander (see above).

Now let's talk a little about toolbar, which you can customize at your own discretion. This is done quite simply - right-click on an empty space (or icon) on the toolbar and select the “Edit” context menu item. If you click on the icon, then along with the above item you will have the opportunity to delete, copy or cut an existing icon from the panel:

As a result, a window for adding a new item to this panel will open:

You will be able to create a button:

For each toolbar button you create, you can select an icon. Moreover, if there is nothing suitable in the default library, then no one is stopping you using the button with two >> to find another icon library on your computer or select a separate file with an icon (for example, with a png extension). I won’t teach you where to get a lot of beautiful icons, because it goes against the religion of this blog (well, or something like that).

What can Total Commander do (basic)

It's difficult to sort through its main features. It is clear that it allows you to sort, delete, copy and view information about all objects located on your computer or on network drives in a user-friendly way. With the help of plugins, you can even view the content of mobile devices.

But besides this, Total Commander can and has a lot of useful things:

Search in it (Alt+F7) is in many ways superior to the search capabilities of the operating system. It will be especially useful for webmasters search by file contents(this helped me find signatures). Remember I talked about such a wonderful tool as. When you use it to study your site, there are no problems finding CSS rules that are responsible for something on a web page, because the firebug itself will tell you the name of the style file and even the line in it.

Another thing is searching for the desired object in the folders of the site engine (the CMS can contain several thousand individual files), which generates the Html code for a particular section of the web page. This is where searching for Total by the contents of any number of files will come in handy. You can download the entire folder to your computer, or you can connect to the site via FTP using the FTP client integrated into this manager, which is essentially no worse than what I have already described:

But even a regular search by name through Total Commander has very flexible settings (estimated weight range, creation dates, available attributes), which are hidden in the “Advanced” tab:

  1. The FTP client integrated into this file manager allows you to connect to your site via the FTP protocol and work with its objects exactly as if they were on your computer. To select a connection, just press CTRL+F, and if you have not configured any connection yet, then in the window that opens, simply click on the “Add” button. The settings are not much different from the FileZilla I described, but according to rumors, Total Commander has a problem with password security, which prompted me to switch to FileZilla.

P.S. It turns out that Filezilla is also unsafe because it stores passwords unencrypted. They were recently taken away from me, and after... However, I found a solution for myself that allows me to safely work with sites via FTP, both through Total Commander and Filezilla. If this topic is interesting to you, then read about and.

  2. Show all files without subdirectories(Ctlr+B) - if you are too lazy to climb through all the subfolders of a directory opened in one of the tabs, you can use this function. If desired, you can then copy (move) all these files to a folder open in the adjacent panel. Sometimes it is very useful.
  3. Bulk renaming(Ctlr+M) - select on any tab the required number of files that need to be renamed using a specific mask. The tool is very sophisticated and you can use it to create miracles:

  4. Directory synchronization - available from the Commands menu. Allows you to compare and supplement catalogs, for example, from a laptop and a desktop computer.
  5. Internal Associations - Available from the Files menu. All objects that you open from Commander by double-clicking can be associated (set to open) with any programs on your computer. And this can be done contrary to what associations you have configured in the system.
  6. Depending on the number of archive plugins installed in your file manager, you can directly unpack (Alt+F9), pack (Alt+F5) and check (Alt+Shift+F9) archives of types supported by these extensions directly in it. You can enter archives like regular folders, which is very convenient.
  7. You can print to the printer a list of all the objects you have selected (possible with subdirectories). Available from the “Files” - “Print” menu. You can also get a list of files using the corresponding Total commands or by selecting the appropriate item from the top menu "Run".
  8. In the "View" menu you can configure different display methods. The verbose mode is used by default, but less pressing on the brain is, in my opinion, "brief".

To view image previews, you can use the mode "View Thumbnails"(their size is set in the Commander settings). Of course, it would be better to use specialized programs for viewing and working with photos (for example, my favorite), but sometimes it is not advisable to launch a separate application for this.

  9. It is possible that now this is not very relevant, but nevertheless, the ability of this manager can occasionally come in handy. I'm talking about the ability to cut the file into pieces no larger than the specified size, and then glue it together. Items split and reassemble files available from the menu of the same name.
  10. There you can also create and verify a checksum for files.
  11. As I already mentioned and showed above, for the million other commands provided in Commander, you can configure sets of hot keys or add buttons to the toolbar. The possibilities in this regard are simply endless.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site

When working with a computer, you most often have to perform the same type of operations: creating files and folders, copying them, moving them, deleting them. For these purposes, you can use the best file manager Total Commander, but, as practice shows, most users use the ordinary built-in Windows Explorer for these purposes. Of course, Explorer of modern Windows operating systems has great capabilities and a convenient interface, but still, it is a basic program designed to perform only basic operations with files. If you want to optimize your work with files, make it more productive and faster, you should use special software. And here the Total Commander file manager comes first. This is not just a program for working with files, but when used correctly, it is a computer control center.

This article will not contain a complete guide to the TC program; there are other sites for this, in particular, official sites www.ghisler.com And wincmd.ru.

My task is to show the capabilities of a file manager to optimize work on a computer.

To work with the program, you need to download and install it. To download, go to the Russian-language website of the program wincmd.ru and download the latest version.

Despite the fact that the program is paid, it continues to work even after the end of the test period.

Vehicle setup

Immediately after installation, you can already work with the manager, but it is still better to make some settings. Having mastered the program, everyone customizes it individually, “for themselves.” I want to tell you some “secrets” that will help you save time in the future.

To open the settings window, run the commands Configuration - Settings.

As you can see, there are quite a lot of items in the settings list. Most of them can be left unchanged. I will write about those that I propose to change.

Customizing the appearance

First of all, after installing Total Commander, I make small changes to the appearance of the program.

For example, I don't like the default bold font in panels. To change it, go to the tab Fonts and choose the one you like.

I also remove the square brackets around the folder names Settings – Panel Contents – Show square brackets around file names.

On the first tab View windows I put all the checkboxes.

You can change the appearance of the buttons on the toolbar Configuration – Toolbar.

Column Sets tab

In each vehicle panel, information is presented in the form of columns (Name, Type, Size, Date...). The program allows you to work with columns: add, remove, change, create ready-made sets of columns. For example, if the directory contains photographs, we are interested in some data about the files, and if there are text documents, then in others. You can make several ready-made sets of speakers and easily right-click to switch them.

Basic Operations Tab

Here I recommend checking the box When changing disks, always go to the root directory. It is also more convenient to select with the mouse Left button (as is customary in Windows).

On the tab Quick search I select an item Letter only. Then, if there are many files in the directory, you can press the first letter of the file name on the keyboard and it will switch to files starting with this letter.

On the tab Miscellaneous I want to draw your attention to the first section Request confirmation when:.

If you uncheck all the boxes, operations will be performed faster, without opening an additional window, but you may miss some errors. Therefore, think about which boxes to remove and which to leave.

File Operations Panel

As already mentioned, the main purpose of the file manager is to work with files, so the main commands are presented in the form of buttons and hotkeys are assigned to them. Let's go through these buttons.

Button F3View launches a special program Lister to view files. I usually don't use this button. It is difficult to achieve correct display of files of different types with one program. You can configure the F3 button to launch an external program corresponding to the file type, for example, for psd-run files Photoshop, but it seemed inconvenient to me, I use a different method.

The next two buttons are used for file transfer operations. What's special here? Total Commander allows you to perform copy and move operations one at a time. What is the advantage of this method? If you need to transfer several large files from directory to directory, say a video, then the usual Conductor performs these operations simultaneously, and the process takes a long time. The speed drops significantly, especially if reading occurs from one physical medium. The vehicle performs them in turn, and the information transmission channels are not overloaded. You can perform other actions at this time.

Working with archives

Another advantage of TS is that it works with archives just like with regular directories. You can go to the archive, see in the manager panel what files are in it, add new files to the archive, etc. Archiving and unarchiving occurs automatically.

I like this feature of Total Commander the most. But first, an old joke about a lady with a purse.

In general, it went like this:
Court.
— Defendant, why did you kill the woman?
— I’m riding on a bus, the conductor approaches a woman, demanding to buy a ticket. The woman opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, took out her wallet, closed her wallet, opened her handbag, put her wallet in, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, took out money, opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, put her wallet in , closed the purse, opened the purse, put the purse there.
- And what?
— The controller gave her a ticket. The woman opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, took out her wallet, closed her wallet, opened her handbag, put her wallet in, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, put a ticket in there, closed her wallet, opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, put the wallet there, closed the wallet, opened the purse, put the wallet there, closed the purse. “Take your change,” came the controller’s voice. The woman... opened her purse...
“It’s not enough to kill her for this,” the prosecutor can’t resist.
- So I did it :))).

This is approximately what we do when we need to open a folder using Windows Explorer. If you have to open a folder often, but it is located somewhere deep, then it is tiring and annoying.

In the TS, such directories can be made favorites, similar to browsers. Click on the button with an asterisk (or Ctrl+D) - and here is a list of the most visited directories.

And next to it is another interesting button (Alt+down arrow), which opens the history of recent visits.

This is precisely the element of the manager that makes it a computer control panel. The panel contains various buttons that can be removed or added, that is, customized at your discretion.

For example, you can display buttons for the most frequently used programs and launch them directly from the vehicle. This is done simply. Open the folder with the program and drag the program icon to the toolbar. Now the same file can be easily opened by different programs. Let's say files with the extension .jpg by default open by the program FastStone Image Viewer, and by dragging it onto the icon PS, you can open it for processing, or files .NEW open by default Adobe Lightroom, and by dragging, they can be opened in the viewer.

Can be added to command buttons from the manager's huge list. Let's look at this using the example of adding a button to show hidden and system files.

Open the settings window Configuration - Toolbar

Press the button Add and open the list of commands by clicking on the search button.

To find the desired command, in the window start typing the keyword. It was enough for me to get skr. The team we need has the number 2011. Press Ok, select the appropriate icon, and again Ok.

Now the panel has a button that allows you to quickly turn on and off the display of hidden and system files and folders.

In this way, you can customize the toolbar in a convenient way for you.

Another way to save time is to use hotkeys. In addition to the default ones, you can customize the keys for the commands you need. The settings window opens upon command Setup – Miscellaneous.

Another interesting feature of the manager is to show all files located in folders, without the folders themselves. This is sometimes necessary when you need to select some files from many directories. IN Explorer To do this, you would have to open and close all directories (see the joke above), in Total Commandere you just need to click on the button Show all files without subdirectories (Ctrl+B) and all files will be visible. They can be sorted as if they were in the same folder, copied, etc.

I use this function to rename photos. After shooting with a digital camera, the pictures have unintelligible names, for example, SDC13191.jpg. To quickly rename them, select all the necessary files and execute the commands File - Bulk Rename (Ctrl+M).

The renaming window opens, in which you can create a mask for the new name.

Thumbnail images

By default, all files in the manager are shown with icons, but for those who work with photographs or drawings, it is convenient to see thumbnails of the images. In the file manager, this feature is enabled with the command View - Thumbnail View. I moved this button to to switch faster. Thumbnail sizes can be adjusted in the settings window.

Another useful feature of the TS is the opening of several tabs in the panel. A new tab is opened with the combination Ctrl+T. Using tabs, you can open several directories at once and easily navigate between them.

And one more useful tip: to open a folder in the adjacent panel, click Ctrl+left/right arrow.

How to learn to manage your time effectively. Be able to distribute it so that the really important things that move us forward are done first, and only then everything else?

You can take books on time management, but, unfortunately, most of these books were written a long time ago and do not take into account the modern rhythm of life and the availability of modern cloud-based task management tools with synchronization between all your devices.

I offer you a more interesting solution in the form of a new work by Evgeny Popov, which is called.

This concludes my review, which turned out to be quite long. I hope you found it useful, but in fact, this is only a small part of the useful functions of the program. Only after trying to work with Total Commander will you be convinced that it really is the best file manager, and once you master it, you will learn even more different tricks.

Using Total Commander, which is a file manager, users can easily make various changes in the system (for example, add, view, delete, move files and folders). The interface of the program itself is extremely simple, thanks to which absolutely anyone can handle it.

It has two workspaces that make it easy and quick to transfer and view data on one local drive and another. Thanks to its wide capabilities, it has gained enormous recognition among personal computer users. Sometimes a user may need to view hidden files or folders and wants to do this through Total Commander, but, unfortunately, has no idea. Of course, this way of viewing hidden information exists and it is extremely simple.

First way

First of all, you need to launch Total Commander itself and go to the “View” tab. Then you need to find the “Advanced settings” item. Here the user can configure a huge number of different parameters. For example, enable or disable any program panels, buttons, command line, etc. Here you need to find the item “Show hidden system files on/off”. By clicking the left mouse button, the program will automatically show the user such data. You can disable this function by pressing this button again.

Second way

In other versions of Total Commander, you can open hidden files and folders differently. First, the user needs to go to the "Configuration" tab and select the "Settings" item. After this, an additional window will open in which the user can make changes. In order to make files and folders visible, you need to click on the “Panel Contents” tab. Then on the right in the “Display files” field you need to check the box next to “Show hidden/system files”. After this, you need to confirm your desire and click the “Ok” button. After this, all hidden files and folders will be shown to the user.

If you have enabled the display of hidden files and folders, then under no circumstances should you change, delete or move them. Such actions can negatively affect the performance of the system, since hidden folders mainly contain system files.

In this lesson we will talk about the program Total Commander. This is the most effective, easy to manage and indispensable file manager, which for many users has become both necessary in working with files and an indispensable attribute in building a website.

As always, I recommend downloading Total Commander current version from the official website page. At the time of writing, the trial version of Total Commander 8.01 is current on the manufacturer’s website, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I use the portable version of Total Commander 7.5.

It should be noted that the trial version is an infinitely free version. After all, after the expiration of the free month of use, it is not blocked. Just press one of the three numbers (1, 2 or 3) and after counting down the seconds, Total Commander will start. There will be no restrictions on functionality.

So, let's take a closer look at Total Commander:

Total Commander - description of functions

Total Commander was originally created to work with files. We will have two windows on the screen with a list of folders and files; we can simultaneously see two drives, for example C and D. Moreover, viewing or searching for files and folders, as well as dragging them between drives, is much more convenient than using the built-in Windows Explorer.

You can change disks with the mouse or keyboard by pressing Alt+F1 or Alt+F2 for the left and right panels of the total, respectively. Or select disks on the top panel:

The two-pane view makes it much easier to copy or move files. In one panel we set where to copy from - in the other panel where to copy.

At the bottom there is a panel where the main operations and hotkeys for these operations are labeled. Moving between the two panels is done with the TAB key.

Let's go over the settings of this file manager, where you can tweak and embellish a lot of things. To do this, you will need to select "Configuration" - "Settings" from the top menu. The first tab contains some of the most important settings that determine appearance and functionality file manager windows:

As you can see, everything is simple here. It will be enough to uncheck or check the box, then click on the "Apply" button and the changes are made. I think you will figure out the settings yourself.

Main features of Total Commander (Total Commander)

Total Commander allows you to sort, delete, copy and view information about all files located on your computer or on network drives in a user-friendly way. But besides this, Total Commander can and has a lot of useful things:

(Alt+F7) in many respects surpasses similar search by means of an operating system. It will be especially useful for webmasters to search by the contents of files or search for the desired file in the folders of the site engine (Joomla), which generates the Html code of a particular section of a web page. It helps me a lot when looking for a piece of code to edit.

If you search for files in Russian, then do not forget to check the box "UTF 8".

(CTRL+F) integrated into this file manager allows you to connect to your site via the FTP protocol and work with its files exactly as if they were on your computer. To select a connection, it will be enough to press CTRL + F, and if you have not configured a single connection yet, then in the window that opens, simply click on the "Add" button.

The settings are not much different from what I described FileZilla, but according to information from the Internet, Total Commander has a problem with the safety of passwords. That's why I use filezilla.

3. Show all files without subdirectories(Ctlr+B) - if you are too lazy to climb all the subfolders of a folder open in one of the Total Commander panels, you can use this function. If desired, then it will be possible to copy (move) all these files to any folder open on the adjacent panel.

4. Group renaming(Ctlr+M) - select on any panel the required number of files that will need to be renamed according to a specific mask. The tool is very sophisticated and you can use it to create miracles:

5. Internal associations- available from the "Files" menu. All files that you open from Total Commander using a double click can be associated (customize their opening) with any programs on your computer. And this can be done contrary to what associations you have configured in the system.

6. You can pack, (Alt+F5) unpack(Alt+F9) and check(Alt+Shift+F9) archives using archive plugins installed in the file manager. You can enter archives like regular folders, which is very convenient.

7. In the View menu you can configure different ways to display files and folders. By default, the detailed mode is used, but, in my opinion, the “short” mode is less stressful on the brain. To view image previews, you can use the “View Thumbnails” mode (their size is set in the Total Commander settings). We connect the Notepad++ editor for editing by default in Total Commander (Total Commander)

As I already said, the best text file editor is Notepad++. How to make it the default editor in Total Commander. It's simple. Go to the top menu in Configuration - Settings. We are looking for Edit/View.

Select an editor program. A path selection window will open where you need to find Notepad++ (for me in C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe) and select the program file itself

Now editing both by default and by pressing F4 will take place in Notepad ++

So let's summarize. All that I have told is only a small fraction of those huge opportunities that have Total Commander. Proper setup of Total Commander gives you so many opportunities that studying them will take some time.
