Keenetic lite iii connection. Manual for setting up a Zyxel Keenetic Lite router. Setting up wifi on Zyxel Keenetic Lite II

Setting up Internet access

Setting up the router consists in specifying the MAC address from your personal account. For normal operation, it is important that these addresses match.

You can:

1. Indicate in the router settings the MAC address of your computer, specified in your personal account;

2. Specify the MAC address of the router in your account.

In the first case, you have the ability to quickly switch to work without a router, without any reconfiguration. In the second case, you will be forced to change the MAC address in your personal account every time you turn off the router. Therefore, we recommend using the first configuration option.

Setting up a router for DC++

For the correct operation of the DC++ file-sharing network, you must do the following.

1. Assign specific IP addresses to your computers (not all routers have this capability). This is necessary in order for port forwarding to work correctly - Port Forwarding. The fact is that in order to work in DC ++, your computer must be able to receive incoming data from the outside. This is what Port Forwarding is used for, which redirects all incoming data on a specific port to the IP address of your computer that you specified when configuring Port Forwarding. If this address changes, DC++ will not work. To keep your computers' IP addresses unchanged, we set up Static DHCP. In other words, we tell the router to always assign a specific IP address to a computer with a particular MAC address.

2. Set up redirection of incoming data to the appropriate IP addresses of your computers.

First, reserve specific IP addresses for specific computers on your home network. Open the Home Network menu and select Networking. In the window that opens, in the "Leased IP address" section, the MAC and IP addresses of all connected computers will be listed. Check the box next to the IP addresses that you want to assign to the corresponding MAC addresses. Click the "Fix" button.

IMPORTANT: Remember the reserved IP addresses. This will come in handy when configuring Port Forwarding.

If for some reason there is no data in the "Leased IP address" table, they can be entered manually in the form below.

The MAC address can be found in the following ways.

1. If the computer received an IP address from the router, then its IP and MAC addresses will appear in the corresponding columns of the "LAN Settings" list (network connection properties).

2. Click "Start" -> "Run" -> "cmd /k ipconfig /all" -> "Ok". Find the line with your IP. Two lines above, in the "Physical address" field, your MAC will be indicated.

3. Click "Start" -> "Run" -> "getmac". This command will provide a complete list of MAC addresses on your computer without specifying their corresponding IP addresses.

Configuring Port Forwarding

Let's open the menu home network and choose the item Servers.

In the window that appears:

Put a tick in front of the item Open access to home network services.

In some firmware versions, this item may be called "Enable port forwarding".

Press the "Apply" button.

In the "List of open home network services" section, you must perform the following steps.

1. In the "Service" field, select "Other" or an empty line (depending on the firmware version).

2. In the "Computer IP address" field, enter the IP that you reserved earlier.

3. In the "Protocol" field, select TCP and UDP.

4. Enter 4000 in the Port Range field.

5. In the "To" field, also enter 4000.

6. In the Description field, enter DC++.

Click the Add button.

If everything is done correctly, then just below the button Add you will see an entry about the added rule.

If DC++ is going to be used on multiple computers, you need to do a similar operation. When adding rules for other computers, you must specify the IP addresses of other computers and other ports.

For example:

computer 1: IP 192.168.1.33, port 4000, rule name DC++;

computer 2: IP 192.168.1.34, port 4001, rule name DC++_2;

computer 3: IP 192.168.1.35, port 4002, rule name DC++_3;

To avoid problems in the future, all IP addresses should be reserved. How to do it, read above.

Setting up a connection in the DC++ client

Go to your DC client settings: "File" -> "Settings" or just press Ctrl-O. Then select the connection settings section.

In the first field Network interface for all connections select address 0.0.0.0.

Make sure Firewall with Manual Port Forwarding is selected and TCP and UDP ports are set to 4000.

Make sure you have the "Refresh IP at startup" checkbox checked, and set the "IP update interval in minutes" field to 10.

Make sure the External / WAN IP field is set to your IP address.

On the first line under the button Find IP addresses address must be http://dc..php

In the firewall, for your DC client, ports 4000 must be opened using the TCP and UDP protocols. The UDP protocol is needed for the lookup to work.

In the settings of your favorite hub, the "IP" field must be empty.

Your internal VPN IP address can be easily found by clicking "Find IP Addresses" in the same window. After clicking, your VPN IP address will appear to the left of this button.

ATTENTION!!! By clicking "Find IP addresses", you will get the correct IP only if you have the correct addresses of the checking scripts. The first line should be http://dc..php ,
and in the second http://dc..php

WiFi setup

Wi-Fi settings" in front of the picture we change to: "Open the Wi-Fi network menu and select the "Connection" item.

In the window that opens:

Check the box next to Enable Wireless Access Point.

In the "Network name (SSID)" field, enter the name of your Wi-Fi network - for example, 2KOM-WiFi.

Check the box next to "Enable Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM)".

Leave the rest of the fields unchanged.

Click the "Apply" button.

In the window that appears, click OK

To ensure that only you have access to your Wi-Fi network, you need to turn on protection. Protection is carried out by encrypting the radio signal using a code word. There are several types of encryption: WEP, WPA and WPA2. Since WEP encryption is not strong enough, we recommend using WPA2 encryption.

The code word must be between 8 and 63 characters. To set up security for your WiFi network:

Open the "Wi-Fi network" menu and go to the "Security" section.

In the "Authentication" column, select "WPA2-PSK".

In the "Type of protection" column, select "TKIP-AES".

In the "Network key format" column, select ASCII.

In the "Network key (ASCII)" field, enter your password. It can contain from 8 to 63 characters.

Click the "Apply" button.

After applying the settings, your router is configured and ready for full operation. fix to “After applying the specified parameters, your router will be configured and ready for full-fledged work.

Let's start by connecting Zyxel to the network:

1) If you only have a router, connect the main network cable (coming from the entrance) to the WAN (Internet) port. Next, use the network cable that comes with the router to connect any LAN port of the router and a computer / laptop.

2) If you also have a switch (switch), then connect the main network cable (coming from the entrance) to any port of the switch, connect the WAN (Internet) port of the router and the switch with one patch cord, and with the other - any LAN port of the router and computer / laptop.

After that, check that the computer / laptop from which you want to configure has been configured automatic retrieval of network settings .

Open any browser (Chrome, Mozilla, IE, Opera, etc.) on your computer/laptop and type in the address bar 192.168.1.1 . The web interface of the router will open.

All Zyxel Keenetic routers allow you to configure the Internet in two ways:

1) By using the Quick setting;

2) With Manual Tuning.

I propose to analyze each of the methods.

Setting up Beeline Internet on Zyxel Keenetic using Quick Setup.

Choose "Quick Setup".

Specify the country "Russia".

Choose the region of your residence.

Choose from the list of providers Beeline.

Specify the username and password, they must be taken in the contract with the provider.

Choose a port for connecting a TV set-top box, if you use the second type of connection (with a switch) or do not use TV from Beeline, then you do not need to specify anything.

As a result, the router will gain access to the Internet and the first thing it will ask you to do is update the firmware, I recommend doing this and clicking "Update".

Zyxel Keenetic will download the firmware and install it during the reboot. You need to wait a few minutes, then click the "Next" button.

At your discretion, you can enable Yandex DNS.

After that, the Zyxel Keenetic setup can be considered complete, click the "Go online" button. If you click "Web configurator", then after entering the password you will be taken to the main menu of the router.

Setting up Beeline Internet on Zyxel Keenetic using Manual setup.

For this method, select "Web configurator".

The main menu of the router will open. Select "Internet" - "PPPoE/VPN" from the menu, click "Add connection".

Create a connection with the following settings:

Type (protocol) L2TP
Server address: tp.internet.beeline.ru
Username and password - login and password given to you by Beeline (written in the contract).
The rest of the parameters can be left unchanged.
Click "Apply"

As a result, you should get something like this connection.

On this, the Beeline Internet setup on Zyxel routers can be considered finished, check your Internet connection.

After setting up the Internet, you can start setting up Wi-Fi, but this is not at all necessary, since the name of the wireless network and the password for it are already indicated on the sticker of the router.

Thus, you can configure the Internet from Beeline on Zyxel routers yourself.

This step-by-step instruction details how to set up a Zyxel Keenetic Lite Wi-Fi router to work with Beeline home Internet and set a Wi-Fi password. The manual configuration of the router will be shown, and not the automatic one (which it launches when you first enter the admin panel).

An example setup is provided for Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3, but the essence will be the same for previous models of this router.

How to connect Zyxel Keenetic Lite

The first step before proceeding with the setup is to properly connect the router. On the back of the Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3, there are 4 ports for local devices and one Internet port.

Connect the provider's cable to the Internet port, and the cable from the computer on which the settings are being made to one of the yellow ports on the home network. The setup can be done without a cable by connecting to it via Wi-Fi (the password for the network is indicated on the sticker on the back of the router), but I recommend using a cable connection if possible. Also make sure the Mode switch is set to Basic.

After that, plug the router into a power outlet and wait a minute or two until it boots up.

Beeline connection setup on Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3

After connecting to the router, follow these steps to set up the Beeline Internet connection:

This completes the Beeline connection setup and the Internet is distributed by the router, i.e. you can use it on all connected devices. If desired, you can change the Wi-Fi password and wireless network name.

Setting up a Wi-Fi network on Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3

This completes the setup of your Zyxel Keenetic Lite router for Beeline, you can use it.

Among the variety of wireless routers on the market, Zyxel products are one of the leaders. Recently, the manufacturer introduced a new product - the Keenetic Lite 3 WiFi router. The device has a large number of various functions, and therefore many users have difficulty setting it up. This is what we will talk about next.

Of course, not only a PC can be used as a communication device with a router, but also any gadget that supports WiFi - a phone, tablet, etc. But it is better and more correct to do this directly from the computer via a network cable that is invited to the modem in the kit.

So, if you take a look at the back of the router, you will see the following picture:

From left to right:

  • Operating modes. We will not consider each mode, because you are unlikely to use all of them. Just move the switch to "Basic", and move on. Or you can get acquainted with each mode in detail in the instructions that came with the router in the box.
  • Home network. Yellow color has sockets designed to connect network (LAN) cables to them. That is, up to 4 computers can be connected to the router at the same time, thus creating a small local network. You will also need to connect one end of the included network cable to one of these ports and the other end to your computer.
  • Internet. The blue socket is the WAN port. You need to connect your Internet cable to it (the cable that comes to your home or office outside is from the provider).
  • Nutrition. Connect the plug from the power supply to the hole. Then press the button, which will turn on the device - now you can proceed directly to the configuration.

You can proceed to the next step right away, but we recommend that you first reset the router settings to default values. This will save you from the possible difficulties that often arise when reconfiguring routers. Make it simple. Grab a thin, needle-thin object (the tip of a ballpoint pen will do), then find a small hole on the side of the device labeled "Reset". Insert an object into it until it clicks and hold it in this position for about 7-8 seconds. The front panel indicators will start blinking - this is a signal that the reset was successful, you can continue.

Go to the web interface of the router

The web interface is part of the operating system built into the router, which provides users with the ability to configure device operation parameters. To get into it, you need any browser. On the bottom of the router is the address to enter the router.

Launch your Internet Explorer and go to the specified address. After pressing Enter, a welcome window will appear in front of you, prompting you to make quick settings for Zyxel Keenetic Lite:

However, here we will consider only manual tuning. Click the "Web Configurator" button as shown in the image above. Next, the device will show a dialog in which you have to enter the password for the web interface.

Enter any password with confirmation. Click Apply. The page will automatically reload and you will now see the web interface login form.

We use admin as the username, the password is the one that was invented earlier. Click OK, let's move on.

Setting up the Internet Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3

There are several technologies for establishing communication with an external network. If in the case when your provider uses the simplest type of access, referred to as Dynamic IP, then you should already have the Internet when you first connected the router to the computer. Otherwise, your ISP is likely using a more complex connection type. If so, then go to the section responsible for creating a connection - click on the planet icon at the bottom of the page.

Currently, 3 connection types are widely used - PPPoE (the most common), PPtP (the second most popular) and L2tp. Before proceeding with any action, call your Internet provider to clarify the type of Internet they use.

PPPoE

Select PPPoE/VPN at the top of the page. Then click on the "Add connection" button.

On the page that opens, you have to fill in just a few fields:

  • Authentication data (fields: Username, Password).
  • From the IP Settings list, select Automatic. If your Internet service provider has additionally given you IP and other network addresses, then you will have to enter them by selecting the appropriate option from the list.
  • Leave the rest as in the image, then click Apply.

PPTP

This technology will require you to additionally enter the server address and other network addresses. They must be in your hands. Or call your ISP and find out the necessary data.

Repeat everything as in the picture above, except for the server address and authentication data, which you should have. In the case of IP parameters, use the network addresses given to you, if required by the provider.

L2TP

Although the technology is different from PPTP, its settings are practically the same. Here you will also need to register the address of your provider's server and authentication data.

WiFi

It remains only to set the settings for the WiFi network. To go to the settings, click on the appropriate icon at the bottom of the page:

You will see the following picture:

It's simple:

  • First, enter any name you like for your future WiFi network by filling in the appropriate field (this name will be displayed in the results of WiFi networks detected by your phone or PC).
  • Specify the WPA2-PSK type as the network security option, as shown in the picture.
  • Set a password (make it complex - from letters and numbers).
  • Click Apply.

After this operation, the Internet on your PC or other communication device should work.

In contact with

A little more than six months ago, Beeline began to actively distribute the coverage area of its fourth-generation mobile communications throughout Moscow.

The speed of data reception in 4G networks can reach 50-70Mb / s, which cannot but please fans of torrent downloads, watching HD movies online, etc. In this article, we will describe a simple process of setting up home Internet from Beeline using a ZyXel Keenetic router.

ZyXel Keenetic is a feature-packed wireless router, dubbed “Internet Hub” for its wide range of features. In addition to connecting to the Internet via an Ethernet cable, it supports all major Russian operators, 3G and 4G standards. Connection in the latter case is carried out using a USB modem.

Actually, at the time of release, 3 slightly different Keenetic models were presented - standard, 4G and Lite. They differ in set. In 4G, a slightly weaker USB port, in Lite it is completely absent. Be that as it may, setting up ZyXel Keenetic, regardless of its configuration, is done in the same way.

Before starting setup

First, go to the control panel and select "Network and Sharing Center" (Windows 7.8) or "Network Connections" (Windows XP). On the left panel, click Change adapter settings. Right-click on “Local Area Connection” and select properties. In the “General” tab, in the list of items, select “Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4). Make sure that the checkboxes are in front of the items “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”, otherwise, set them yourself.

Connecting and configuring ZyXel Keenetic for the Beeline network

Connecting the router is done in three steps:

Plug the router into an outlet
Connect the router to the computer with an Ethernet cable through the LAN port
Connect the Beeline cable to the WAN connector of the router

To configure the router, open any browser on your computer (for example, Opera) and enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If you are asked to log in, enter the username admin and password 1234.

We find the Internet tab, click and select the Authorization section. Enter the following in the appropriate fields:

1. Internet access protocol L2TP
2. Server address tp.internet.beeline.ru
3. Username/password that you received from the operator

You don't need to change anything in the remaining fields. From now on, you will be able to use the Beeline Internet, but it would be nice to also create a Wi-Fi point and secure it from unwanted connections with a password. This setting is done on the same page in the browser, in the “Wi-Fi Network” tab.
