Review and technical characteristics of the Doogee T3 smartphone. Doogee T3 Smartphone Overview and Specifications Specifications and Performance

Smartphone Doogee T3 Brown belongs to those few mobile devices that offer advanced functionality at an affordable price.

The phone market is currently crowded with various manufacturers. Each of them offers a variety of smartphones at different prices.

When it comes to buying a new device, many users can't decide which one to choose.

As a result, most prefer popular brands like Apple, or simply opt for a phone with an attractive design.

As for the Doogee Titan T3 smartphone with 3GB RAM, it offers solid performance for a small price.

For the Doogee T3, the review was created to familiarize yourself with the key functions of the device.

Appearance and hardware filling

This phone is often called a coffee phone because of the color of the leather cover. It has a unique design and has many similarities with good old Vertu smartphones.

The Doogee Titanium T3 measures 142x72x11cm, which means it will fit comfortably in a medium-sized hand. The phone weighs 148 g.

Doogee is not the most famous brand, but the characteristics of their T3 product are able to compete even with big-name manufacturers.

The smartphone is equipped with a 4.7-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. This means that all content will display perfectly.

Inside the device is a 64-bit 8-core MTK6753 processor, so that the phone instantly responds to touches on the touch screen and does not create any inconvenience during use. This is great for complex 3D games.

The Doogee T3 device comes with 3Gb RAM and 32Gb permanent memory (these characteristics are suitable for everyday use). It is almost impossible to overload a smartphone with a lot of tasks due to the nature of RAM.

Connectivity standards, battery and camera

Connection standards Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS and 4G band are supported.

It is not worth mentioning the 2G and 3G bands, which have long become the norm.

There are 2 SIM card slots that can be used simultaneously.

You won't need to worry about your second phone number when connected with the first one.

Not surprisingly, the smartphone is equipped with the USB Type C standard, which is one of the fastest and easiest ways to transfer data. With its help, you can transfer 1 GB of information within 10 seconds. The device has a 3200 mAh battery that keeps the phone running for 2-3 days.

Unfortunately, among the features of the smartphone there is a significant drawback. The problem is that the Doogee T3 is equipped with a 13 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP camera on the front.

However, many users do not agree with this description of the camera. They believe that the rear camera does not spoil the prestige of the Doogee T3.

By using PDAF phase adjustment, you only need to wait 2 seconds before the adjustment takes effect and you can take a great photo. The camera is also praised for its large f2.2 aperture, which produces high-quality photographs.

Additional functions

In addition to all the listed features, the Doogee T3 has several more advantages that make this smartphone stand out.

The device comes with a 0.96-inch top display that adds extra flair to the phone's unique design.

It displays the current time, calling number, text messages and other useful information.

Reviews say that not everyone likes phones with 2 screens, so having a second display cannot be considered a serious advantage.

The manufacturer clarifies that the additional screen was added after much discussion and debate within the company. As a result, it was decided to introduce this innovation, since over time it should become a new standard for mobile devices.

In addition to standard features such as calls, text messages and a clock, the Doogee T3 has a pedometer and a widget that displays the calories you burn.

The smartphone has a Russian version of the Android 6.0 operating system.

It is possible to install updates as soon as a new version of the software environment from Google becomes available.

Android 6.0 may have some bugs, but you can stay calm when it comes to fighting malware.

The phone supports the DG security system, which is considered the most reliable in the world. It will protect your device from many malicious applications.

It also provides reliable protection in case the phone is stolen. It is achieved by setting a password for all programs.

The data on your smartphone will be protected if for some reason it ends up in the hands of an unauthorized user. However, if you forget the password, you will have to reset the device to factory settings. On the other hand, if the phone is stolen, you can use this feature to delete all information using another device.

Smartphone manufacturers often avoid using leather cases, but this device has it by default.

This eliminates the need for users to go shopping and find the right case for their Doogee T3.

The manufacturer notes that there are more than 100 types of leather that can be used as a material for wrapping a phone.

For Doogee T3 we decided to choose calfskin.

This smartphone offers an unusual way of displaying notifications.

On most phones these are displayed at the top, but on the Doogee T3 they appear at the bottom of the screen. This smartphone can be an ideal option for those who are looking for a relatively inexpensive device with many useful features.

Which was positioned as a smartphone for travel: it is waterproof, equipped with a more or less capacious battery, and at the same time has a heavy iron case, so that if necessary, this smartphone can fight off both a bear and any scoundrels who occasionally come across in the forest. However, this phone did not make much of an impression on me: it looked a little intimidating, had more than average characteristics, and its battery life was at the same level as the most ordinary smartphone in the same price category. That's why I didn't even write a review of it. alignment="center">
Doogee TITANS2 DG700 Then I somehow came across a note where it was very pathetically told that the Doogee company had released the Doogee T3 smartphone, which, they say, would be a serious competitor to Vertu smartphones. It sounded very funny. Because Vertu are not smartphones. Vertu is a show-off, that is, a lifestyle! The guys came up with a brilliant thing. They took some ancient Nokia, made an ornate case for it, stuffed it with as much gold, glitter, sapphire glass and titanium plaques as possible, after which they multiplied the final price by 250 and began selling this thing for ten thousand euros. And here it doesn’t matter how much this smartphone actually costs and whether it’s convenient to use. The important thing here is that everyone knows: since you have a Vertu, it means you can throw away ten thousand euros on POINTS, and this means that you occupy a certain level in the SWORN hierarchy of society. So Vertu is a kind of religion: you bought a Vertu, installed at home there’s a golden toilet or you put a golden loaf of bread there - that’s it, you’ve made it in this life, you can afford to throw away a lot of money on any madhouse. Accordingly, it wasn’t very clear to me what they even meant by the term “compete with Vertu.” I was not very sure that anyone would buy a Doogee smartphone for 10 thousand euros. I would never even sign up for a price of 5 thousand euros, even if there are crystals from Swarovski and Khokhloma painting from Nikas Safronov or Safronov painting from Khokhloma. Then I found out that they plan to sell Doogee T3 at the price of something there around $200. Around two hundred dollars, Karl! A competitor to Vertu! Here one could say that this is Vertu for the poor, but the phrase “Vertu for the poor” is an oxymoron in itself! Because once again: Vertu is not a phone. Vertu is a “friend or foe” recognition system. And then I just got a contact at the Doogee representative office, so I immediately asked directly: are you Vertu’s competitors or not? The contact laughed and honestly said that in the design, as is often the case with Chinese manufacturers, there were some borrowings, but the company itself, of course, does not position the Doogee T3 as a competitor to Vertu. Doogee T3 is a business model that is interesting not only because of its design, but it also has a second display, as well as several original security applications. Well, the representative said, you can look at it yourself, we will send it to you. And they actually sent it, for which we thank them, because this phone should go on sale only at the end of July. Doogee T3 really turned out to be quite original, so let's see what it is, and whether we can use it instead of Vertu and the golden loaf.

Price: on BangGood - $199.99 What about our characteristics? The resolution of the display is not FullHD, but for a 4.7" screen it is normal, the main thing here is whether a good matrix is used. The platform is quite typical for smartphones in this price category. They did not skimp on the memory: 3/32 GB is good. Two slots for SIM cards and a memory card are also a typical solution, unfortunately, but not fatal. A 3200 mAh battery for such characteristics is good capacity, autonomy should be decent. However, we’ll check. Contents of delivery Strict packaging made of thick black cardboard.
At the top is the smartphone itself, and the components are located in a drawer at the bottom. The original approach is a kind of “chest of drawers” style packaging.
The components are placed just like jewelry on velvet - it's nice to see.
Contents: smartphone, power adapter, USB to USB-C cable, wired headset and adapter from Type-C to microUSB, thank you very much for that, it’s a valuable and convenient thing.
Power adapter - 5V-2A.
Appearance and features Well, the appearance here, of course, deserves a separate discussion. With an aluminum alloy cover on the earpiece, a leather bottom, polished metal ends with bolt heads, a leather-wrapped back cover, a metal cover on the camera and speakers at the back, the design really makes an impression. What’s interesting is that the design of the Doogee TITANS2 DG700 seemed to be similar in style, but the smartphone then gave the impression of being strangely cheap (however, it cost a penny, let’s face it), and the T3 seems to have a similar design style, but nevertheless the smartphone looks much better ( Well, the materials used in T3 are completely different).

Doogee TITANS2 DG700

And by the way, I like the way the T3 looks better in the version with a brown back cover: it looks more impressive.
What can we say about design? Yes, we were clearly inspired by one of the old Vertu models, namely the Vertu Constellation Touch. But it’s better not to even mess with Vertu without a golden toilet, but here, just save up $200 and do what you want.
The back cover is partially removable, for which you need to carefully slide it down.
Underneath there is a removable battery and two slots: for a SIM card and a memory card (or a second SIM card).
At the bottom there is an audio output, a USB-C slot and a microphone.
On the right side there is a power button and a universal customizable button. On the left side there are the same two volume control buttons, strictly symmetrically located.
At the top end there is a second display intended for various background information (we'll talk about it a little later).
Well, here is T3 surrounded by Alcatel (TCL) Flash 2 and Huawei P9.
The materials and workmanship are very good. The manufacturer claims that the overlay on the back cover is made of titanium, and the leather used for finishing the back cover is Chinese dragon leather from Australian calves. But in general, it looks like it’s really leather, and not artificial leather. This smartphone is hardly suitable for lovely ladies, it looks too brutal, and it’s quite thick, but it’s quite a stylish-looking male version. He definitely attracts attention to himself. Display High-quality display on an IPS matrix. Very good viewing angles, colors are rich and natural, fonts look quite clear, despite the not too high resolution. The brightness margin is good, and I was also pleased that the image remains clearly visible in direct sunlight. Apparently, there is no oleophobic coating here .The second display is located in the upper end, beveled at an angle of 60 degrees. (This makes it more convenient to observe what appears on the display when the smartphone is lying in front of you on the table.) By default, the current time is displayed on it, calls by phone or SMS also appear there, and if the call was not answered, the corresponding icon.

At night, you can put your smartphone nearby on the nightstand and check the time on it.
Basically, this display was invented for business people: to receive information about who called or wrote during meetings and meetings when the phone cannot be used. Well, at night this display is also quite useful for any users, even not very business ones. Device operation Android 6.0, some additional utilities and a theme specially designed for this phone - pretty cool, by the way. Main desktop.

Standard quick switch area.

The screenshot mode here is advanced - a window like this appears with additional processing options.

Applications installed on the system.

Lock window with the option to go to the phone app or Camera app.

Phone application Incoming call.

Talk mode.

Audibility is good, but there is no noise reduction system. I tested the speed of Internet access via mobile communications - very good.

Access speed via Wi-Fi is normal.

Audio The built-in speaker sounds loud enough, the sound is, as usual, flat, there is no bass at all (and where can they come from). At full volume, no overload or wheezing was detected.

Reinforcing earphones-"studs" Myst Nail2 - very good: the sound is voluminous, clear, well balanced, the highs are quite soft, there are some basses. Really great.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro full-size headphones in wired mode are good: the sound is voluminous, fairly clear, good bass, decent highs. Video The smartphone even plays 4K videos with a software decoder, so no problem.

Games The platform is not too powerful, but 3D games are more or less pulling. In Asphalt 8, the game sets the image quality to low, but it rides quite quickly and without delay.

In tanks everything was spinning around 50-58 FPS. Well, a performance and quality test from Epic Citadel.
Determining coordinates This was not indicated in the specification, but the smartphone works with GLONASS. The cold start was quite long, about three minutes, but after that, the determination of the coordinates started in a few seconds. The navigation programs worked quite stably, they did not fly off the road.

Additional Applications Here, as I already said, there are several specific applications, including developments by Doogee. Backup. You can save all installed applications to an SD card so you can quickly restore them if necessary.

DG Security. A very useful application that I would not mind installing on all my smartphones. It allows you to lock any application or service with a password (general or unique). This is very valuable. Unfortunately, this utility is only available on this phone and is not available on Google Play. (But perhaps there are some analogues, I have not studied yet.)

DG Xender. An application for quickly transferring programs and media files over Wi-Fi between different devices.

Document tools. A program for working with all major types of office documents.

Parallel Space. An interesting application that allows you to use two accounts on various social and gaming networks.

Pedometer. A simple program for counting steps, measuring distance, speed and calories burned.

Settings Standard Android settings plus some advanced features.

Second screen settings - which notifications to display on it.

Setting up an additional function button. There you can choose which application to call. By the way, I always welcome such things, a separate button for the camera (or any other constantly used application) is very convenient!

Advanced settings for a wide variety of gestures.

For example, you can take screenshots with a three-finger gesture.

Gestures with movements.

Smart moves.

Gesture actions on the lock window - turn on by double tapping, drawing a letter to call the application and so on.

A QR code detection call is made directly in the settings. But it's not in the Camera app.

The operating mode of the indicator located above the Home button.

Battery.

Additional energy saving wizard.

Urgent call mode with notification of trusted numbers.

On-off. However, this is a standard option.

Camera The camera application interface has its own characteristics.

All settings and options are selected by scrolling the window left and right. To the left are color effects and camera settings.

To the right are shooting modes (and the same settings).

Examples of pictures. (All are clickable.) At home, daylight.

Sunny day.

Text test.

When shooting at night, the camera does not set it to more than ISO 266 - apparently so as not to make “noise”. Well, as a result, night shots are very darkened.
Evening at sunset.
An example video (filmed at sunset, when it began to get dark).

How did the camera perform? It focuses, in general, decently, misses quite rarely (especially in normal lighting conditions). It happened that the white balance floated slightly: on two identical frames, the balance could shift to the yellow side. The exposure was mostly set correctly by the camera. Decent clarity and saturation, the overall impression of the camera for this price category is good. The video shoots well, but I would like more clarity. System settings and performance CPU-Z data.

Device.

System.

Sensors

Index by AnTuTu. Quite expected for this platform.

Geekbench tests.

Well, the general PCMark index. By the way, it's quite good for this iron.

The smartphone has an average performance, lags quite rarely, ordinary office applications run on it without any brakes. Battery life The battery here is quite capacious - for other characteristics. Here's what happened in the tests. (I always turn off power saving in tests.) Internet. The brightness is set to a comfortable 50%, wireless networks are turned on, and the page in the browser is refreshed every 30 seconds. A little over 10 hours - very good. Video. Wireless communications are disabled, the player's brightness is set to a comfortable level of 10 (15 in total), and the MK Player plays a video series in a loop. 8 hours 12 minutes. Not bad. PCMark synthetic test - 6 hours 11 minutes. Well, in general, as expected, Alcatel Flash 2 with similar characteristics did approximately the same thing.

The smartphone is charged at 5V-1A, that is, it is fully charged from scratch in about 3 hours. The battery capacity according to the device corresponded to the declared one. Observations during operation and conclusions There were no complaints about the device's performance during the testing period, with the exception of noticeable heating in the camera area when using heavy applications: 3D games and tests. Regular applications - browser, video, music, simple games - did not cause any heating. What do we have as a result? The smartphone is interesting and has a number of original features, among which, of course, the design and the presence of a second display with notifications stand out. If we do not take these features into account, then according to the existing characteristics, the smartphone should cost somewhere around $150, but it is sold for $200. Well, then everyone decides for himself what he would prefer: buy a faceless “Chinese” for $130-150 and save money, or pay an extra $50 and buy a smartphone, of course, with a distinctive design and a second display, which is also quite useful. The smartphone really looks interesting and unusual, and my compliments to its creators: compared to the Doogee TITANS2 DG700, which looked completely oaky, this is a completely different matter. It's really nice to hold it in your hands. Vertu, by the way, I played with in my hands. It looks cool, but I don’t really understand smartphones that cost many thousands of dollars. And I don’t have a golden toilet - I’m not the target audience.

With a smartphone called T3, the Chinese manufacturer Doogee decided to try its hand at the segment of unusual gadgets with an expensive design, albeit at an affordable price. The new product from the Middle Kingdom is distinguished by a high-quality body made of metal and trimmed with genuine leather, two displays and a Hi-Fi music processor.

Specifications and performance

  • Octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz;
  • video accelerator Mali-T720 MP3;
  • Android OS version 6.0 Marshmallow;
  • 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory;
  • memory card slot: microSD up to 128 GB;
  • Dual SIM support;
  • GPS navigation;
  • light and proximity sensors;
  • battery capacity 3200 mAh.

With this “stuffing” the device copes with any tasks. There are no slowdowns when viewing pages in the browser and playing high-definition videos. There is enough hardware to run the latest 3D games.

Appearance

Doogee T3 looks bold. The right and left sides are metal, the back side combines metal with black leather, which overlaps along the bottom edge and partially covers the front.

The front side is completely covered with protective glass. At the bottom edge there are three touch navigation keys. There is an indicator light under the central button. At the top there is a narrow speaker grille, a front camera and two sensors. At the upper end, which is slightly beveled, there is an additional screen.

Both weight and shape are perfectly designed in the smartphone. It is pleasant to hold in your hand, the device lies securely in it. The dimensions are comfortable, the weight is modest for a device with a metal body - only 140 grams.

Screen

The smartphone has two screens. The main screen diagonal is 4.7 inches, resolution is 1280x720. The display brightness is sufficient, auto-tuning works quickly and correctly. Due to the fact that the screen is made using IPS technology, the picture looks bright and contrasty. The screen is covered with tempered glass with an oleophobic coating, the sensor type is capacitive, it simultaneously recognizes five touches.

The second screen on the top end is black and white. By default, it displays information about missed messages and calls, as well as the time. In addition, information such as calories burned and the number of steps taken can be displayed on an additional screen.

Camera

The 13-megapixel camera produces fairly good quality images in natural light. At dusk and at night there are minor noises. The camera was also equipped with autofocus and LED flash, which perform their functions well. Considering the cost of the smartphone, the Doogee T3 has an excellent camera.

The front module is wide-angle, its resolution is 8 megapixels. You can take good quality selfies with the front camera. There are many filters in the settings.
