Transcription from 100 rubles per minute. What is audio-to-text transcription and how do you get started? Translating audio into text work: where to start

Greetings, dear friends. Let's look at this way of making money today: transcription * , accessible to most and allowing you to earn good money on the Internet.

Transcription - translation into text format of the content of audio and video sources.

Transcription of audio files and videos into text refers to remote freelancing on (,).

So, after reading this post, you will learn what it is to make money from transcription, for whom this method is suitable, where to find a job and what will help in this difficult matter.

The essence of the work is to decipher the content of audio and video files and translate it into machine text format. In simple words, they give you a music file or a link to a video on YouTube (read also), and you return to the customer a text file with the content collected from this file or video.

Who pays

The main customers on the market are webmasters or Internet coaches who need to translate the content of audio and video files into text. Look how much information is now provided through videos on personal YouTube channels, in correspondence, at conferences and online courses. But on the Internet, the main thing is text, text and only text. Therefore, every day the volume of work does not fall, but is constantly growing, and now you can take your place in the boat and earn good money.

Just as often, journalists who use a dictaphone resort to transcription services, but do not have time to reprint the content or are simply lazy.

If now there may be problems with customers at first, then with time and improvement of your qualifications this problem will disappear.

For whom

Making money by translating from audio to text is one of the few ways that allows almost everyone to earn good money, even teenage schoolchildren as young as 12 years old.

You don’t need to have any special knowledge or skills here, although the touch typing method will greatly simplify your task and increase your income. You will need a computer with Internet access and basic school knowledge of the Russian language, spelling and punctuation.

How much can you earn

The main question for all performers, of course, remains the question of the money they receive. Let's take a look at how much they pay for transcription these days. The main search for customers today is work-zilla, let's go there.

As we see in this task, for transcribing a 5-minute video you will receive 100 rubles. How many of these 5 minutes do we have in an hour? 12? If you can process 10 such tasks in a day, you will receive 1000 rubles, and a month would already be 22,000 rubles, working only on weekdays with all weekends and holidays.

Not bad, right?

Alas, harsh reality shows that there are not many such tasty tasks and you will have to fight for them. In the beginning, you will need to work on less attractive orders to increase your rating and build up your portfolio. For example, this one:

In this task, we are required to transcribe a two-hour webinar for 600 rubles, which is 2 times less than in the previous task.

Pay attention to the execution time. In this task, this is 8 hours to transcribe a 2-hour video, but at the beginning, most likely you will not have time to meet such limits. Before taking on such a task, be sure to agree with the customer on the possibility of increasing the completion time. Usually they go to a meeting.

Of course, there are some very cheap tasks:

In fact, if you see such a task, do not rush to immediately swear and close the site. This is usually done by inexperienced customers who do not know the prices for translating content from audio to text. Just open a chat with the customer and agree on a price.

From experience, I can say that now on average they pay 600 rubles for 60 minutes. Highly rated performers charge higher rates, from 900 rubles per hour of transcription and more. Work, earn a reputation and you will earn from a thousand rubles a day.

Pros and cons of the method

pros

  • You work for yourself, and not for your uncle in an expensive suit;
  • work in your free time;
  • you work from anywhere in the world, it is possible to combine it with your main job;
  • decent wages;
  • the possibility of increasing earnings (referral program, copyright instead of simple text decoding);
  • does not require special skills and knowledge.

Minuses

  • At the start, small earnings are possible;
  • presence of competition, not a large number of customers;
  • impermanence (you can sit for a long time without orders);
  • complexity (there are sources of poor quality)
  • sedentary work at the monitor (be sure to take breaks to rest your eyes and body)

In general, transcription is a good way to start making real money on the Internet. Unlike the same clicks, the earnings here are much higher. The worst thing is that there are not many customers yet. But this is a matter of time, but for now it can be combined with other methods: copyright, rewriting, translation, etc.

What you need

In order to make money from transcription you will need.

  1. Desire to earn money. I think there shouldn't be any problems with this.
  2. Banish laziness and get rid of chronophages*

    Chronofanies are devourers of your free time (games, movies, TV series, reading entertainment sites and everything, everything, everything that can distract you from work).

  3. Get yourself an electronic wallet. Required to register on earning sites. I would recommend mail from Yandex or Gmail.
  4. Open a virtual wallet where money will be received for completed tasks. If you don’t know which one to open yet, then make a WM wallet from WebMoney ().

Mechanism of operation

  1. Register on the selected site.
  2. Activate your account.
  3. Fill out your profile and payment information to withdraw money.
  4. Find a customer, get a task and a source for decoding.
  5. Complete the task, type the text from the source into a text document.
  6. Submit your order
  7. The customer checks it, approves it, or sends it for revision.
  8. You receive money, withdraw it to your e-wallet
  9. Spend online or withdraw in real money.
  10. That's it, you can move on to the next order.

Tools to help

To make this difficult work easier, pay attention to these things, they can greatly simplify your work:

  • Microsoft Word or its equivalent. This program can check the text for errors and correct them. Of course, it won’t fix everything, but 80-90 percent is enough.
  • Orfogrammka service or its analogues. A great service that can check spelling, punctuation, grammar, find stylistic and speech errors, offer correction options, etc. Unfortunately, the spelling tool itself has recently become paid, but small texts can be checked for free. The cost of one check costs 2 rubles, which is not expensive at all if you have a large amount of work to do and don’t have time to check it yourself. There are free analogues or the same MS Word.
  • Service Speechpad.ru. Allows you to dictate text and convert it into text format. You can try using it to transcribe audio files, the main thing is that the quality is good.
  • Dictation.io is an analogue of our foreign-made speechpad. Oddly enough, he copes quite well with the Russian language.
  • speechnotes.co is another foreign online service for speech recognition. It uses Google's voice search engine for this and has a smartphone application.
  • http://www.typingstudy.com/ru/ - a site for teaching touch typing on keyboards. After completing the training, you will speed up your typing skills, which will allow you to complete tasks faster.

Programs for translating audio into text

Yes, services that can automatically translate audio into text seem like an attractive solution, but such a service has not yet been ideally invented. Still, they make mistakes, do not add punctuation marks, etc. Reworking such texts is sometimes much more difficult and takes longer. And think for yourself. If such online services existed, then why would the customer pay you money?

Therefore, programmers have created programs that can, if not perfectly translate audio into text, then at least significantly simplify this task for you. Let's look at the best of them.

Express Scribe

The most popular job for helping transcribe audio files into text. It cannot recognize itself, but it can greatly simplify the work of typists*.

Typist - a worker who types text, a typist. From English words Type - set.

Express Scribe allows you to download an audio file, listen to it at your own speed, and simultaneously type text in your own text editor. The program's own editor cannot check spelling, but the program integrates with Microsoft Word. There is support for hot keys, which allows you to quickly switch between operations without touching the mouse.

It has both paid and free versions. Supports Windows and Mac OS

Transcriber-pro

Russian-language analogue of Express Scribe with the ability to listen not only to audio files, but also to play video. It has a group editing tool if you work not alone, but in a group: typesetter, proofreader, editor, etc. The program is paid and the license costs 640 rubles per year, which can be paid for in one order. Works only on computers running the Windows operating system.

Previously, the program was called Slovomol Editor

LossPlay

In appearance, this is an ordinary audio player like Winamp or AIMP, but it was created with the assistance of professional transcribers and is designed specifically for decoding audio into text. Hotkey support and deep integration with Word will help simplify the complex process of translating an audio file into text. You can adjust the playback speed. Can play both audio and video files. Free and has a Russian-language interface

VOCO

A professional application for Windows that allows you to convert read text into a ready-made text document. Versions Voco.Professional and Voco.Enterprise allow you to convert ready-made audio files into text. Unfortunately, the cost of this program is quite high. Voco.basic will cost you 1,690 rubles, but Voco.Professional is already 13,900. The corporate one costs about 50 thousand rubles.

RealSpeaker

A unique tool for converting voice speech into text. Unlike its competitors, this program can not only “listen” to speech, but also monitor the movement of the speaker’s lips, improving the result of transcribing audio into text. Since August 2016, the authors have been testing a transcription tool where you can upload a file and get a text result. You can try it at this address. While testing is underway, you can do this absolutely free. Further, I think there will be a fee.

Where to get orders for transcription

The eternal headache is where to get orders? I have selected for you some of the best sites where you can look for customers and offer your services for translating content from audio to text.

Work-Zilla

The bulk of customers are located right here and it’s best to start from here. There are many small orders of 100 rubles and large ones of several thousand.

I advise beginners to go here first. With small orders you can quickly gain a reputation and earn a decent income per day.

Kwork

Today it is the most successful exchange of freelance services with a fixed payment. Each quvork here costs 500 rubles. Here you are no longer looking for customers, but the customer is looking for performers. Here is an example of one of the performers.

This performer has been on the site for less than a year, but has already completed 104 tasks. Of course, not all of her assignments involved transcription, but they all involved typing. And of course, it works not only on kwork, but also on other earning sites. This raises the question: is it possible to make money from this? As you can see, yes!

ToDo (exchange closed)

Almost the twin brother of the Kwork site, with a slight difference. Here performers can set a price for their services and are not limited in the price of one job. You can create a work for 100 rubles in 10 minutes, or you can create 1200 in an hour. Nobody limits you. It is inferior in popularity to Kwork.

MoguZa

MoguZa positions itself as a seller of digital services, where performers offer their services for a specific amount. Today there are 108 offers on the site for translating audio into text, you can become the 109th.

YouDo.com

Yudu is one of the largest services on the Internet for searching for performers. Unlike the competitors described above, it specializes in all areas of life, not just the Internet. Here you can find everything from a toilet cleaner to a spaceship designer.

It also has a segment for online work. Go to freelance.yodo.com and you will have access to a freelance exchange, where you can find transriction customers.

Weblancer

One of the most popular freelance exchanges on the RuNet. Here you can find both one-time orders and permanent work.

Alas, there are not many orders here.

FL.RU

The most popular freelance exchange. There are a lot of orders here, but you should come here confident in your abilities and with money in your pocket, or rather purchased with a PRO account. Yes, transcription here is provided by customers only to performers with a paid account.

Advego

It would be a good idea to register on the content exchange - Advego. Here, maybe not so often, but still, interesting orders pop up for transcribing audio and video into text. And if there are no active tasks, then you can earn money in other ways, of which there are a huge variety (copywriting, rewriting, likes, reposts, commenting, creating topics on the forum, etc.)

Audio Bureau

If you want to find a permanent job with a guaranteed salary, then you can try your hand at the Audio Bureau, which specializes in providing services in the field of audio and video services. In the “Vacancies” section you can find job offers as an audio transcriber and some others.

"

These are the sites that I would recommend to start making money from transcription. This is, of course, not a complete list, but here there are the most customers and there is less chance of stumbling upon scammers and deception. Many performers open their websites and make money from them by translating the content of audio files into text. Or they offer their services through social networks.

At first you will need to work on your:

  • Reputation
  • Portfolio
  1. Improve the quality and speed of your work. Learn touch typing, use programs to translate audio into text.
  2. Learn a foreign language. Type text from sources in a foreign language. Translation + transcription costs much more.
  3. Look for orders that require not just translating text from audio into a document, but that require understanding the content and writing high-quality copyright.
  4. Use the referral system and bring new performers into the system.
  5. Cooperate. There are orders that need to be completed urgently, but one person simply cannot do it in time. If you give the customer the fastest possible result, then believe me, it is yours forever. For an hour of voice acting, you can and will earn less between two people, but you will also complete twice as many tasks in the same time.

Beware of scammers (updated 05/14/18)

Good luck with your earnings and health!

Greetings, dear readers! As always, Vasily Blinov is in touch.

Today I want to start a conversation about what transcription is, how you can earn money from it and how much. When I started freelancing, I was faced with video transcription and transcription tasks.

In my opinion, this is one of the simplest activities that does not require special skills, with which you can start earning your first money on the Internet.

I will try to reveal the essence of this activity as much as possible, and tell you what pros and cons it has.

Transcription - what is it?

Transcription is the translation of speech from audio or video into text.

To put it in very simple terms, you take an audio or video recording and retype everything that is said there into a logically connected text, into a document convenient for subsequent editing.

A very simple type of work for which All you need is hearing, allowing you to parse Russian (or foreign) speech, and typing skills on the computer. Your earnings will depend on how quickly you can type.

But don't worry if you're a quiet typist, the more you practice, the better you'll get at it.

The benefits of transcription

Despite the fact that this is one of the easiest ways to make money, it is quite tedious, but it has a number of advantages that make it possible to do it.

  1. Learn to touch-type faster.
  2. Develop your memory by briefly memorizing large audio fragments.
  3. You develop attentiveness, perseverance, patience and the ability to perform monotonous work.
  4. Learn to write correctly.

Disadvantages of this profession

I think the disadvantage of transcription is that this work does not pay that much; it would be more promising to do something more interesting and developing. There are dozens of other professions that you can learn and start earning money remotely.

Who is suitable for working as a transcriber?

Most likely, this type of work is suitable for those who are just learning to make money online. Schoolchildren, students and complete beginners who still don’t know how to do anything else.

In this case, you can quickly and without investments start receiving your first money, and then master something else.

Why and who needs audio-to-text translation?

Making audio in text format is mainly ordered by various companies involved in calling clients, optimizers, information business people, students, and journalists.

Here are some popular examples:

  • telephone conversations;
  • seminars/webinars;
  • interview;
  • audio podcasts;
  • TV shows.

For some, it’s easier to record their thoughts on a voice recorder and then turn to freelancers to make an article or book out of it, while others need good subtitles for the video and a text version, because it’s not always possible to watch.

There are many different options, which also determine the cost of the work.

How much can you earn from transcription?

The last time I transcribed a video, I took an order at a rate of 1000 rubles per hour. Taking into account the fact that I don’t have much experience in this matter, it took me almost the whole day to translate 1 hour, 7-8 hours exactly.

But it’s so difficult to estimate how much you can earn per month from this, there are a lot of factors due to which the price per minute differs.

It can range from 5 to 70 rubles.

It depends on:

  1. Urgency of order fulfillment.
  2. Recording quality - poor sound, noise, etc.
  3. The number of voices are dialogues in which you still need to understand who is speaking.
  4. From the complexity of the text and the presence of terminology. For example, in medicine there are terms that I personally would not be able to understand without knowing them.
  5. From the individual requirements of the customer - design, arrangement of time codes, literal translation, etc.
  6. Recording language - transcription from English audio into English text or from English into Russian or another foreign language costs many times more.

Also, your earnings will depend on the quality and speed of completing the task. With a serious approach, you will get 10,000 - 30,000 rubles per month. For a small town this is good money.

Where can I take orders?

I just joined the freelance exchange work-zilla.com, with which I once started working, and found several transcription orders on it.

You can also find and take orders on various freelance exchanges.

Or, if you want more stability, you can contact special companies that specialize in this and hire transcribers for permanent work. You won't need to search for orders.

As a rule, such companies pay even more for 1 minute of audio recognition than searching for employers and negotiating with them on their own.

That's all for me, I hope it was useful, if you have any questions, ask them in the comments to this article.

You can also write your reviews about this profession if you have ever been involved in transcription.

Good health, dear reader of the “site” magazine! In this article we will talk about the topic of Transcription work, what types of transcription exist, the skills required for the job, and common mistakes of novice specialists.

Transcription work

Usually, beginning freelancers take on any job on the Internet. This can be performing various simple actions - liking, reposting, writing reviews and comments.

This takes a lot of time, but the income is small. But this makes it possible to gain an understanding of remote work, gain experience, and gain communication skills with customers.

One of the simplest jobs is text transcription, and it is the best place to start.

Transcription is the translation of audio and video files into text format. The performer’s task is to fulfill what the customer says.

At first glance, it may seem like a complicated process, but after completing a dozen orders, you get used to it.

When completing a task, there is no need to be distracted by other issues, because... If you make a mistake during translation, you will have to start all over again.

A specialist needs to be diligent and patient, but this will be rewarded with good earnings.

Skills required for the job

In order to perform work efficiently and on time, a specialist must have the following skills:

  • Be able to print quickly and in large volumes;
  • Be literate, know the rules of the Russian language;
  • Have good hearing and memory.

Customers are:

  • Radio stations and television, when, for example, reporters take an interview, record it on a dictaphone and then it must be transcribed;
  • Training centers offering recordings of webinars and trainings;
  • Individuals - teachers, students, speakers. Due to lack of time, they often order translations of lectures.

Some companies may need to translate telephone conversations. These services are in demand in courts and journalists.

Types of transcription

It comes in 2 types:

  • Accurate translation - every word in the text is translated;
  • With editing – synonyms can be used to achieve better readability.

Although, at first glance, it may seem that there is nothing difficult when translating audio into text, but in reality this task is labor-intensive and tedious.

Transcription programs

In order to make the work of the performer easier, there are different programs. They are distributed free of charge and do not require special conditions for installation on a computer.

The most famous:

Express Scride

  • You can download from the official website, no payment is required for downloading;
  • Easy to use, understanding the principle of operation is not difficult;
  • Nice and friendly interface. There is a function to reproduce the printing speed, there are hot keys with which you can go back.

Player LossPlay

Makes life much easier for transcribers; you just need to set up a few hotkeys. It is free; after evaluating its functionality, it will be impossible to exchange it for another.

Their presence will certainly simplify your work, but, nevertheless, the main condition for a specialist is the ability to type quickly and preferably using the “blind” method.

Before you try to work as a transcriber, you need to assess your capabilities, count how many characters you type per minute - a good speed is two hundred to two hundred and fifty characters.

This will be needed when negotiating the timing of orders. You should not take on a project for which you have little time. There is a high probability that you will not complete it on time and then your reputation will suffer.

You can find orders on freelance exchanges. At the same time, you need to understand that at the initial stage you won’t be able to earn a lot.

You will have to complete several jobs to prove your skill.

By working through freelance exchanges, you have a higher chance of finding regular clients who will regularly offer tasks, which means that along with regular clients, you will have a regular income.

Most popular:

  • Work-zilla;
  • Advego;
  • Weblancer;
  • Kwork.

Most often, transcription is chosen by university students, high school students, women on maternity leave, they are trying to find temporary part-time work on the Internet.

If you organize your work correctly and have certain skills, you can earn good income from deciphering texts.

There are no special rules in this direction - each client has his own conditions for the design of the finished material.

Types of Transcription

Transcription can be divided into types:

Interview

Not complicated and low paid. Basically, the conversation is recorded on a voice recorder; the quality of the recording is not always good, so you have to listen closely to make out the words.

This type is difficult, but the payment is appropriate. The recording is made on a hidden voice recorder or camera, so the sound quality is not important.

The same part of the text must be listened to several times, for this reason the work proceeds at a slow pace;

Dictations

One of the simpler types. The text is clearly read into the recorder;

Subtitles for films

A good option for those who know programming. The essence of this type is to enter the time code of the beginning and end of the phrase in a special format;

Lectures

The difference from dictation is the pace of speech of the speaker. Difficulties may arise when translating professional terms;

Webinars

It is necessary to translate the presenter's speech and sometimes insert statements from the chat;

Court hearings

The most complex type of transcription, because each speaker must be recognized. You cannot speculate or omit any details.

To work effectively, you need to purchase a modern monitor, sound devices and arrange your workplace so that there is nothing superfluous on it.

Frequently repeated mistakes of beginners:

  • Inability to manage your time. Some people put off work until the last few days, hoping that they will be able to finish it on time. In fact, it may take longer to complete the task than expected in advance. And this threatens to miss the deadline;
  • Increased self-esteem. Many people consider themselves literate, so they do not consider it necessary to check what they have written. After completing the task, you need to turn on the recording and double-check what you wrote. This should always be done;
  • Very often, transcribers working with time codes miss them or write them incorrectly;
  • The wrong words are inserted into the text. This is due to the fact that the performer’s thoughts are often far from the topic of decoding, which is why words appear in the text that are not actually in the file.

Working as a transcriber is not the easiest or the most highly paid, but it’s worth trying your hand at it for various reasons:

  • Finding a job is easy even for a beginner with no experience;
  • Acquired communication skills with customers;
  • Realistically assess your capabilities;
  • Adapt to freelance exchanges;
  • You receive a knowledge base that can be used when choosing another specialty;
  • The experience gained will be a good incentive when looking for an Internet profession.

Transcription software. Simple and easy

Conclusion

In this article, we looked at the topic of transcription work, what it is, the skills necessary for work, types of transcription and programs that can help make the work of a specialist easier.

I hope the article was useful. If you have any questions, you can ask them through the comment form under this article.

There are many professions that only a few have heard of. Few people can say what a transcriber does. The article below can fill this gap. It will be of interest to anyone who wants to find an easy remote job.

What it is?

Transcription is the translation of speech from audio or video format into text. In other words, this is the name for creating printed, logically connected text, suitable for subsequent editing from audio or video recordings. By the way, everyone is familiar with examples of transcription. Surely everyone has seen video material accompanied by subtitles at least once.

The main thing that is required for those who decide to earn money by transcribing is good hearing, which allows them to clearly understand Russian or foreign speech. In addition, you must be able to type text on a computer keyboard. Thus, in order to provide “transcription” services for audio or video files, no special skills or knowledge are required, especially when it comes to working with material in your native language.

The only thing that can prevent you from making money providing transcription services is slow typing. Remember that speed and skill come quickly with practice.

Audio to Text Transcription: Benefits

This occupation is chosen if there is a need to earn extra money, but there is no opportunity to get a suitable job, and there is also no education. In addition, transcription helps:

  • learn to touch-type faster on the keyboard;
  • develop memory, as you have to memorize large audio fragments for a short time;
  • become more attentive, more diligent, more patient;
  • learn to write correctly.

Another advantage that is inherent in transcription is the ability to work remotely, that is, at a time convenient for you and without the need to travel to work every day, spending money and time on the road. It is the latter circumstance that makes this activity extremely attractive for mothers on maternity leave and for full-time students.

Minuses

The main disadvantage of working as a transcriber is the relatively low cost of the service. However, in any case, if you take a serious approach, you can get good money, given that you do not have to work outside the home.

The disadvantages include the need to sit in one place for a long time and the fact that there is no room for creativity in such an activity.

Who orders

Transcription of audio into text is usually chosen by those who conduct interviews, organize conferences, engage in calling clients, information business, etc. At the same time, the quality of the customer’s audio or video recording can be of either good or very poor quality.

Transcription is required for audio recordings made during:

  • telephone conversations;
  • seminars/webinars;
  • interview;
  • audio podcasts;
  • TV shows

In addition, there are many people of different professions who find it easier to record their thoughts on a voice recorder and then ask a transcriber to turn the audio into an article or book.

What do customers want?

Those who need to transcribe conversations, lectures, or other audio into text may have different requirements, depending on the tasks assigned to them.

In the simplest case, you need to type the phrases you hear, breaking the text into sentences, and placing punctuation marks correctly.

If a dialogue or conversation between several people is being transcribed, it will be necessary to indicate who is speaking. This is usually done by placing marks such as “first (second) vote”, “man”, “woman” and others.

If you are interested in making money from transcription, then the best place to look for work is freelance exchanges. There, almost every day, there are orders to translate video and audio files into text.

A novice freelancer can also place advertisements on the Internet about his services on thematic websites. This is not the fastest way, but perhaps this way you will be able to get clients for regular work. The most important thing is not to write in the ad that you are working at a negotiated price. It is better to clearly indicate what services you are willing to provide and their cost.

Over time, you can contact special companies and offer them your services. If you suit them, you will no longer need to look for orders. In addition, prices in such companies, as a rule, are even higher than the cost of services ordered through freelance exchanges.

How much can you earn?

Without straining, you can transcribe 2 hours of audio a day, even if it is of the poorest quality. At the moment, in the freelance services market, the average price for 1 minute of audio-to-text translation is about 10 rubles.

For large order volumes, experienced transcribers advise agreeing to a lower rate. Eight rubles for 1 minute of audio processing with constant work is quite acceptable. However, you should not take orders below this price level, since the amount received will not be able to recoup the time spent.

Let's assume you have found a regular customer. Then your earnings, even at a price of 8 rubles per minute of transcription, are about 1000 rubles a day if you work for only 2 hours. And this is not bad at all, especially for residents of the provinces.

What does the price depend on?

The cost of an audio transcription order will be higher than usual if:

  • very poor recording quality and noise present;
  • you need to “decipher” the conversation of several people, and it is difficult to understand who is speaking;
  • the phrases are long and there are terms that are difficult for an uninitiated person to understand;
  • you need to “decipher” a text in a foreign language without or simultaneously with its translation (in the latter case, the payment can be quite high);
  • you need to format the text in a special way (arrange time codes, etc.);
  • work needs to be done urgently.

How to avoid becoming a victim of unscrupulous customers

The main risk of doing transcription is unscrupulous customers.

Unfortunately, at all times there have been swindlers who want to take advantage of the fruits of other people's labor for free. There are especially many of them on the Internet, where it is easy to “get lost” as soon as a freelancer sends an order.

It is quite difficult to identify such fraudulent customers, since they are extremely polite and do not make excessive demands. The main sign of a “freeloader” is a high price and recent registration on a freelance exchange.

The fact is that unfortunate customers like to create accounts for 1-2 fraudulent orders, which are never used again. What to do? Work only with those clients who have been on the freelance exchange for a long time, do not hesitate to ask for an advance payment. You can also send your order in parts, with separate payment for each part. In some cases, it is better to do the following: the transcriber first sends the customer a screenshot of the resulting text, and the text itself only after receiving payment.

Who is it suitable for?

First of all, transcription is a good option for new freelancers. This type of online earnings is ideal for students and schoolchildren who don’t have anything else yet. It does not require investment and allows you to quickly start earning money.

Transcription programs

Of course, you can start working as a transcriber using any media player and Word text editor. However, as already mentioned, your income will be directly related to the speed of order fulfillment, so it is recommended to use special programs, such as Express Scribe. Although it does not have a Russian-language version, anyone who has the most primitive skills in working with computer software can understand the interface.

The main benefits of Express Scribe include:

  • the presence of a field for typing text, which eliminates the need to constantly switch between the player window and a text document;
  • the ability to change the playback speed of an audio file;
  • the presence of customizable hotkeys that allow you to stop, play and rewind an audio recording.
  • adaptability to work with the office Word editor.

Good results can be achieved if you use LossPlay. This program, like the previous transcription software, can be downloaded for free. Its advantages are almost the same as Express Scribe, but sometimes you will have to switch between windows, which is not always convenient.

Now you know what transcription is and understand the features of it

Hello everyone, friends and fellow readers! Now I will tell you another way, thanks to which you can live extremely tolerably in the outback of our homeland and on its outskirts. I will tell you about making money by transcribing audio into text.

I’ll also tell you what programs you can use to do this, in general I’ll give you all the cards, and you can decide for yourself whether you need it or not.

Let’s first tell you about a term that is probably unknown to you: transcription. Transcription is the translation of audio text into text, for example into Word. The main task is to turn the audio stream into logically connected text. There is nothing complicated in this method, the main thing is that you have hearing (not super musical, of course) so that you can distinguish Russian letters and type quickly.

Touch typing is probably the only skill that will be absolutely necessary in this work, since pressing one key is long and tedious, unless of course you are a patient person. For the information of my readers, I decided to master this skill during my wonderful school years. I didn’t play games, I wanted to develop. Eh, if I had developed in a different direction, I probably would have become Durov... Just kidding, friends, just kidding!

You don’t need to go looking for examples, go to the same freelance site and see a bunch of powerful performers who are ready, each for their own fee, to print you text from any audio.

Here are the transcription rates:

I think that there is no need to explain how profitable this type of business - transcribing audio into text - can be in the future.

What can be deciphered anyway?

Seminars, teleconferences, teleseminars, and transcripts of someone’s speeches are suitable for these purposes.

Who might this type of business be suitable for?

I don't know, but it's certainly not for extroverts! An ideal option for those who like leisurely, solitary, painstaking work. Now let's calculate the time spent and approximate earnings on audio transcription.

Let's take the case when you are completely involved in this process, that is, focused on only one thing. In reality, this is 8-10 hours, with breaks for lunch and just to get distracted so that the “cuckoo” doesn’t go away. Thus, the initial amount of time we have is about 6-7 hours of fruitful work. Let's multiply it by 60 minutes and get - from 360 to 420 minutes of pure working time. Now let’s multiply this figure by the number of banknotes per minute that is shown in the screenshot above.

What do we end up with? The usual decoding of audio into text will bring us from 5040 rubles to 5880. Excitement from such numbers is already brewing inside, right? For example, it happened to me. And now, if you know a foreign language perfectly. Let's count, estimate and rejoice. With a tariff starting from 54 rubles per minute of transcribing English audio material into text, we can theoretically receive 20,880 (!) rubles.

Of course, no one will provide you with 6-8 hour recordings. As a rule, they are asked to translate and transcribe about an hour or less or more. Who has any requests, depending on what other customer comes along. In any case, you will not be in poverty. Even if you translate a 30-minute seminar into text, you will earn about 500-600 rubles.

For example, one friend (not mine, of course) asked for about 32,000 rubles for decoding a 5-hour file with literary processing

What do you have to do?

The main thing is to learn to listen and hear your customer. What exactly does he need - a verbatim transcript or a processed one? Every place has its own nuances and this type of business is no exception. I think you liked the article. I will delight you more than once with interesting developments and observations. Bye everyone and good luck!
