Select the user you want to chat with from the list. Right-click on it and click "Start Chat". The mouse cursor will move to the corresponding field in another part of the program window. In this field, you can enter a message to send to the user.

You can also click on the selected user with the left mouse button, after which information about this user will open in the right part of the program window. Then independently move the mouse cursor to the field for sending messages. It is located at the bottom of the user information window. You can identify it by the inscription "Enter your message here."

Enter the desired message text in this field. To send it, press the Enter key, or the icon in the form of a blue circle with a quote, located on the right side of the text input field. The message will then be sent to the user.

If there is no user in your contact list to whom you want to send a message, use the search. Select "Contacts" - "Add new contact" in the program menu or click on the "Add contact" link at the bottom of the contact list. This will open a window where you can search.

Enter the available information about the user you want to add in the appropriate fields. This can be an email address, mobile phone, first and last name, Skype login. If there are several users in the system with the data you entered, you can view all and select the one you need.

After that, click the "Add" button. The selected user will appear in your contact list.

Skype offers a large number of opportunities for free online communication. In addition, using the program, you can make calls and write SMS messages to mobile phones. First, make sure that your interlocutor is online (this is indicated by the icon green colors). Then highlight the desired contact in your user list, right-click and select " Start chat», a dedicated chat window will open. Below you can write your messages and by clicking on the blue button "Send messages"(right), pass them on to your interlocutor.

During correspondence, in addition to the account name, the time when you sent the message is also indicated. In addition, the names of the chat participants' accounts differ in color, so by re-reading what was written earlier, you can easily determine who owns this or that phrase.

When finished chatting, just click on the button "Close" in the upper right corner of the window. In this case, the window will close, but the chat will remain active, that is, you can return to it at any time convenient for you. To do this, in the contact list, simply select the user whose chat window you closed, and by means already known to you, for example, by double-clicking, open the chat window again. As a result, the same window will appear with all the messages that you have exchanged up to this point.

The chat window contains a lot of additional information. You can change it to suit your needs. You can hide all unnecessary elements to increase the space of the message box. To hide user avatar information and account information, double-click on the user status bar containing the account name.

You can change the font and size of the text. To do this, use the command "Instruments"- "Settings" - "Chats" - "Chat visual design". In the window that opens, by clicking the button "Change font", you can choose a different font and font size.

By default, the message entry window takes up little space. This is necessary in order to enable the maximum display of the message box. You can resize the text box by dragging the border. To do this, move the mouse pointer over the border between the windows, and when it takes the form of a double-sided arrow, move it in the desired direction while holding down the mouse button.

To express your feelings, emotions during a conversation, you can use various smiley icons. In order to find and insert a suitable emoticon, you must press a special button in the chat window (a smiley is drawn on the left) and in the window that appears, select the image that best suits the occasion. At the same time, at the bottom of the list, the emotion that this emoticon symbolizes is displayed on the left, and its symbolic equivalent is displayed on the right.

The program saves the history of your conversations. You can verify this by running the commands "Instruments" "Settings" "Chats and SMS" "Chat Settings". Then select command "Open advanced settings". Listed "Keep history for" select the desired value.

You can also choose not to save chat history. To do this, you need to select a value "Do not save", and then, to delete previous entries, click the button "Clear the history".

Now, when you open a chat window at the same time as any user, you can view the history of your conversations. To do this, click on the corresponding command in the message window.

By selecting the desired command, you can easily view past conversations and find, for example, useful links sent to you by friends.

There is one more thing I would like to draw your attention to: you can chat with several people at once, i.e. organize a group chat. At the same time, each of them will display on the screen information about what others write and answer. Group chat can be organized as follows:

1. Open a chat window with the first user by double-clicking on it or by accessing the appropriate context menu command.
2. To invite the next user, simply select it and, holding down the left mouse button, drag it into the chat window created before on the area with the avatar (top right). After that, all participants receive messages that a group chat has been created, and a link to go to it. Clicking on this link takes the user to the group chat window.
3. Another way to create a group conversation is to use the button "Add". After clicking on it, select the command "Create a group conversation", and then drag the users you want to talk to to the top right window. You can also use the button "Add Contacts" located at the top of the group chat. After pressing the button, a window appears "Add Members", in which you can select the interlocutors you need. You need to select them, and then click the button "Select". To select multiple users at once, use the key "Ctrl".

A group of chat participants can be saved in the contact list. To do this, click the button "Save group in the contact list(above the avatars of the participants in the conversation). In the appeared window " Save group" click "OK".

In addition to saving a group of users, you can enter a topic for a group conversation. To do this, simply click on the dedicated area for the topic next to the avatar and enter the name of the topic. Additionally, you can "revive" the theme by adding an animated picture.

The most interesting thing is that you can have another, parallel, conversation with users who are included in the group chat. At the same time, only you and your interlocutor will observe this conversation, other users of the group will not even suspect about it. To do this, you need to select the desired user in your contact list and use the context menu to select the command "Start Chat".

Finally, you can send a file to your friends during a conversation, and you can send a file to all members of the group at once. Your interlocutors can also send the file to all other participants. However, it should be borne in mind that the one who sends the file has the opportunity to select recipients. To do this, click the arrow next to the file to be sent, and then the button "Cancel" opposite the user for whom the sent file is not intended.
