Smartphone one plus 5 technical characteristics. OnePlus smartphones. An operating system is a system software that manages and coordinates the operation of hardware components in a device

The OnePlus 5 smartphone received an ultra-modern Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and even more RAM compared to its predecessor. This makes it perform better than many desktop computers. All components are hidden in a thin metal case with elegant contours and a pleasant to the touch rough surface.

MULTIMEDIA FEATURES
The device takes mobile gaming to a new level. Its AMOLED matrix is carefully calibrated to produce vibrant, rich colors and exceptional color accuracy. The built-in audio system can handle music recorded in high-definition formats, including AANC and Dirac HD. The powerful speaker is located at the bottom of the case, so the sound quality remains unchanged even when the device is lying on a soft surface.

COMFORTABLE TRAVEL
The smartphone provides unlimited Internet access on long trips. It supports high-speed LTE networks (up to 600 Mbps) and maintains a stable connection with Wi-Fi a/c routers over a long distance. With its help, you can also quickly determine your location - connecting to satellite navigation systems takes a minimum of time. With all this, the user will not have to wait long to recharge the device. It uses the latest energy-saving technologies to provide up to 2 days of battery life. DASH technology also speeds up battery charging (30 minutes to 75%), protects it from overload and maintains a low temperature during the process.

DOUBLE CAMERA
Using your smartphone you can create real photo masterpieces. It softly blurs the background of portraits and product shots to create depth, maintains high contrast even in adverse conditions, and delivers superb detail in every frame. The dual camera also supports manual mode, providing access to white balance, shutter speed and light sensitivity settings. High-speed autofocus and electronic stabilization help you take high-quality photos without preparation.

EXCEPTIONAL CONVENIENCE
The OxygenOS operating system is an improved version of Android with the ability to quickly access essential functions and change the appearance of the interface. The fingerprint scanner ensures the security of the user's personal and financial data, but does not create any delays, as it responds in just 0.2 seconds. A special switch on the left side allows you to instantly change different sound profiles, and a multi-color LED indicator provides detailed information about the latest events.

Oneplus 5: even better, even more powerful

The One Plus 5 smartphone is a completely new smartphone, which, even before its appearance, caused a storm of emotions and indignation. Many criticize the creators for completely copying the design of its “Apple” relative. However, the creators say that this is not entirely true. The picture that we can view on the Internet does not convey the build quality of the device, its size, convenience or appearance. Therefore, only after the gadget becomes widely available will it be possible to talk about something.

How much Oneplus 5 costs is not yet clear. Many experts talk about the amount from 400 to 500 USD. If you want to buy a flagship phone at a relatively low price, then wait until this model goes on sale and you will be captivated by it forever. You can buy Van Plus 5 from July 2017, after its official release.

What's so special about this device? OnePlus manages to develop devices that, in terms of their technical characteristics, are not inferior to well-known brands, but have a much lower cost.

The first thing worth noting is the appearance of the One Plus 5 phone. The device has a 5.5" screen diagonal, an Optic AMOLED matrix. The buyer can choose from models with 6 and 8 GB of RAM, as well as 64 GB or 128 GB of internal phone memory. Operation The device is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, MSM8998, 10nm processor, working together with an Adreno 540 video accelerator.

As for the camera, there are 3 of them in this model: two of them are main and one is front. What are the 2 main cameras for? For better photo quality. With the help of two cameras, more light falls on the matrix, due to them you can achieve the effect when the main subject is clear, and the background around it is blurred. The main cameras of the One Plus 5 smartphone have a resolution of 16 and 16 MP, and the front one has 8 MP. These are excellent characteristics for taking high-quality photos, as well as shooting bright and clear videos.

From year to year, OnePlus pleases with the release of the most sophisticated and relatively affordable flagships. In 2017, OnePlus 5 was released, which was heavily criticized immediately after its release. And all because of errors and software flaws. Two months after the release, the dust settled, several updates were released and the smartphone became uncompromisingly cool.

Many people find and read reviews with one goal - to understand whether this or that gadget is worth buying. And right now I’ll make the task easier for those who are looking closely at the hero of today’s review.

OnePlus 5 buy definitely worth it!

Here's a quick clarification. If you need the coolest device on the market, but your own oil well is still in development, then you should buy OnePlus 5 and only that.

Anyone who is interested in details, details and those same nuances, welcome to the main part of the review.

Equipment

The box will not surprise those who have owned at least one smartphone from 1+. We have everything the same: thick, high-quality cardboard in white and red colors.

For newcomers, everything will be extremely interesting, because unboxing any generation of OnePlus is practically an adventure. Here the box is made stylishly, and everything inside is arranged with love. With a love for gadgets and quality things, of course.

  • power supply with fast charging support DachCharge (5 V and 4 A)
  • USB Type-C cable
  • paper clip with a smile
  • postcard with a message from the head of the company to fans
  • branded stickers and, of course, all sorts of different pieces of paper

Did you enjoy unboxing? It's only begining.

A design that has never been “borrowed”. Never!

All this, of course, is very strange. OnePlus has always followed its own path, stuck to its own design concept, tried all sorts of materials, including “sandpaper” in the second version, and therefore their devices have never looked like their competitors.

This is OnePlus 2

The fourth generation of the smartphone (yes, they don’t like the number four in China, so this number was stupidly changed) is suspiciously very reminiscent of the iPhone 7 Plus. Especially if they took it and rounded the corners a little more.

Apart from the similarities and differences with its competitors, OnePlus 5 looks very good.

And even better, it lies in your hand. Believe me, the picture does not convey the sensations that you experience when you take the device in your hand.

Here's what comes to mind when you hold a smartphone in your hands:

“It’s thin, big, light, made of metal!”

A protective film is applied to the screen directly from the factory. It completely ruins everything, because the protective glass of the 1+5 is strongly rounded at the edges, but here the thick film with its rough and sharp corners prevents you from using the smartphone in the form in which the designers intended it.

However, thrifty people still shouldn’t remove it, even though the protective glass (the 5th “gorilla”, for a second) perfectly resists scratches, abrasions and other damage.

Under the screen, as always, there is a fingerprint scanner, surrounded by two touch buttons. The latter have their own backlight, but it is very dim. It could have been made brighter.

The scanner, as always, works at lightning speed and 11 out of 10 attempts are successful. I'm serious!

Camera capabilities

From the next generation model you expect improvements on all fronts, bug fixes, and so on. And partly, the five received some positive changes. Let's figure it out in order.

Front-camera

Video recording

Shot excellent quality 4K video. Everything in the new product is the same, except that the optical stabilization has been removed. Now we only have digital stabilization, which compensates for shaking by cropping part of the frame. And then! This functionality was not added immediately, until the new owners of the device made a fuss about it.

Unfortunately, the 5 still shoots Slow Motion video (120 fps) in only 720p resolution. Full HD was not delivered, despite the fact that the same iPhone 7 set the fashion in this direction last fall.

Autonomy

The smartphone has a 3,300 mAh battery and this is 100 “mach” less than its predecessor (but the new product has become 1 mm thinner, oooh!). The updated smartphone received a 10-nanometer chipset, therefore, power consumption should have decreased by 40 percent.

In any case, we have a smartphone that works stably all day long. If you drive it both in the tail and in the mane (without games), then it will work from 8 am to 9 pm, and the screen glow time will be 4 hours 20 minutes.

The real pride of the company is its proprietary fast charging Dash Charge. For example, in 30 minutes a smartphone gains charge from 0 to 60%. Impressive? Not that word!

The battery reaches 100 percent in exactly one and a half hours. The results are excellent.

By the way, for fast charging to work, you only need to use the supplied power supply and cable. Other accessories will charge the smartphone much more slowly.

Sound quality

The multimedia speaker is quite loud and of average quality. Of course, there are no bass or hints of them, but the main thing is that the sound does not wheeze or creak.

Unfortunately, OxygenOS does not have its own application for playing audio files. Its place has been occupied by Play Music from Google, which very persistently offers to subscribe to the service. This infuriated me at first, but now I’m thinking about agreeing. Finished it off, bastards!

The sound in the headphones is good. I didn't hear anything extraordinary, but nothing was a failure either. Everything is at the level of most competitors.

By the way, the device supports aptX and aptX HD codecs, that is, with wireless headphones that are compatible with the same protocols, the sound quality will be great.

What I especially like about OnePlus smartphones are the gestures on the lock screen.

Here is one of them, my favorite.

In the car I listen to music from my smartphone. The five is mounted on the dashboard and connected to the car’s standard acoustics. The coolest thing is that with OnePlus 5 I don’t need to unlock the smartphone, open the music player, press the “Play” button - the whole thing is replaced by one single gesture. It is enough to swipe the switched off screen with two fingers from top to bottom and playback starts. To pause, you need to do the same; to switch tracks, draw the symbol “>” or “<».

Brilliant! And it doesn’t distract from the road at all.

Bottom line

At first I really, really liked everything. I was delighted with the smartphone, but only until I opened photos from the device’s cameras on my computer.

OnePlus 5 is a top-end flagship that costs about $150-200 cheaper than the same one. However, it shoots about as much worse.

Let's put all the dots and i's.

Do you want top-end hardware? Ideal software optimization? And in order not to spend 40+ thousand rubles for the whole thing, then choose OnePlus 5. The current price tag now, by the way, is $460 or about 27,000 rubles. I bought a smartphone, no problems, so I can confidently recommend it. If anything, use the ONHSCK coupon to get a discount. Does not work? Try this one - OPBKB.

Do you want top-end hardware? Not the most ideal, but still an excellent shell? Buy it. It can now be purchased for around 40 thousand rubles in gray supplies.

Do you want your smartphone to be cool from all sides? Then there is only one option left - . This Taiwanese was and remains the best flagship of this year in terms of price-quality ratio. In gray supplies the price is around 40 thousand, the official price is from 44,990 rubles.

Still, I liked 1+5.

This is such a cool device that it becomes boring to use over time. I'm serious. This happened to me and now the same thoughts appear again.

There's no lag, apps launch lightning fast, the design is great, and for all its shortcomings, the camera still meets most of my photography needs. It’s as if you received the perfect smartphone, you use it, you’re happy, but what next? No adventures for you.

Starting with this review, we introduce a separate evaluation of the devices. If you see the “Super G Recommends” stamp on the main photo, you will know that this is one of the best smartphones in its smartphone category.

Positioning

The OnePlus slogan is the same for all devices, they are positioned the same way every time and we hear that another “flagship killer” has been released. In practice, this is far from true, but among technology enthusiasts, devices from OnePlus have become widespread and there are several reasons for this. The first is that this device is not for everyone, it is not mass-produced, and compared to it, smartphones from Xiaomi and Meizu are consumer goods, not to mention other companies, for example, Huawei or especially Samsung. That is, there is a feeling that OnePlus smartphones are only for people in the know. The second reason is that in terms of price/quality ratio, these devices are good and if you do not need the full set of flagship characteristics, then they may be perfect for you, and the cost will be slightly lower. It cannot be said that OnePlus sells its smartphones for free or at some low price; at the time of release, they cost about 500 dollars/euro, which fits well with the understanding of flagships from A-brands, which cost a little more.

Inside OnePlus, each time they choose a new “victim”, so the previous model OnePlus 3/3T borrowed the design from Huawei smartphones, the same shapes and layout of elements were easily recognizable.

In 2017, the donor for the designer of the five was the iPhone 7 Plus, the same arrangement of elements, dual camera.

The Chinese are not at all embarrassed by the fact that they lack uniqueness in appearance; rather, it is a conscious copying that shows who they went on a campaign against and who they want to surprise with what. Those who buy Chinese Android smartphones often knowingly or not, but in opposition to Apple and the iPhone, people give a lot of arguments why they do not want to buy products from an American corporation. It is possible that this is a contrast between two worlds, Android and iOS, but the fact is that with a noticeable difference in cost between the iPhone and other devices, the majority do not choose the iPhone at all, as sales figures prove.

At the same time, OnePlus’s real competitor is not Apple/Samsung or Huawei smartphones, it is still a direct competitor for Chinese companies, and it sometimes costs more than them and this affects the perception, there is a feeling of a higher quality product. The price trick has long been well known and is perfectly applied in practice. Therefore, it is worth considering OnePlus 5 as a device popular in narrow circles, a kind of product for “insiders”. However, it has very definite advantages that may be of interest to the mass consumer, especially when purchasing a device outside of Russia, when there is an opportunity to save on price.

Design, dimensions, control elements

The theater begins with the hanger, the device always starts with the box and how the accessories are packaged and how they look. I’ve always liked OnePlus’ approach, there’s simply nothing to complain about, inside the box there are compartments for charging and cables, a leaflet with an appeal on behalf of the company and other small things.

It is clear that you will throw away the box or hide it out of sight almost immediately, but it creates the mood and affects the perception of the phone. And this is the right approach.

The device is available in two colors - gold and dark gray. For girls and for everyone else, that is, boys and girls mixed.

From time to time, OnePlus releases limited editions, which is how the JCC+ device appeared, but you still won’t be able to find it on sale, so you can consider it a kind of virtual expansion of the model range.

The case is curved at the back towards the edges, which makes the phone more comfortable to grip; it does not slip in your hand and is thin enough to be convenient in a jeans pocket. The size of the smartphone is 154.2x74.1x7.3 mm, weight is 153 grams. For this kind of device, it is quite light and this is a big plus, since the body is made of anodized aluminum (we are not talking about any series here, which means ordinary aluminum without any 6000 or even more so 7000 series). The reliability of the case is beyond doubt, the paint does not peel off, as sometimes happens on Huawei, everything is reliable here (anodizing is the best option of all possible and quite expensive).

Inserts for antennas can be seen on the top and bottom ends; in a dark device they are so good that you can only see them by looking closely. To my taste, they do not spoil the overall impression of the model, although in gold they are clearly visible and less successful.

The layout of the control elements is standard for OnePlus; it is repeated from model to model.

Above the screen in the upper left corner there is an indicator for missed events; it is not very bright, but clearly visible. In the settings you can choose the backlight color for various events; there are several such colors.

On the left side there is a paired volume key, and just above there is a three-position lever, with its help you can turn on Do Not Disturb mode or limit notifications only from important applications. The thing is super convenient, it allows you to immediately achieve the desired result without going into the menu, without turning on the device.

On the right side there is an on/off key, just above the tray for two nanoSIM cards.

At the bottom you can see a USB Type C connector, speaker output, as well as a 3.5 mm jack and microphone. The second microphone is located near the camera on the rear panel, it is used when shooting video, and also participates in the noise reduction system during conversations. The camera itself protrudes from the back, but this does not create any problem.

There is a fingerprint sensor under the screen, it works just fine, the touch is recognized instantly and is in no way inferior to how it happens on the iPhone/Galaxy. In addition to the fact that it is a fingerprint sensor, you can assign the touch pad to call one of the functions; a double or long press is recognized. The pad is not pressed, so it all depends not on the force, but on how long you hold your finger on it. For example, I’m so used to the fact that I can quickly launch the camera on my Galaxy with two presses of the Home key, that I chose the same function, it’s very convenient.

On the sides of the sensor there are touch keys; they do not have symbols, since in the menu you can change their places and choose the location that is familiar to you.

The only possible negative that you will notice over time is the film on the screen, which is glued on at the factory. Despite the fact that there is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, there is also a film. It will get scratched over time and then you will have to peel it off, but it will definitely last you for several months if you handle the device normally.

Display

If you were expecting that the screen would somehow change compared to the previous model from OnePlus, then it was in vain, since it is cheaper to use the same matrices, especially since they have proven themselves well, if you do not pay attention to some points.

Chinese manufacturers strive to use AMOLED matrices, as this makes their products stand out, gives them a touch of respectability, and it turns out that they are no worse than Samsung. Considering that you have to buy AMOLED matrices from Samsung or small manufacturers, they cannot be compared with the latest generations of matrices from Samsung. As a rule, they are distinguished by noticeably lower brightness and the absence of additional energy saving modes. The display in OnePlus 3/3T/5 was no exception. For marketing reasons, the Optic prefix was added to it; in fact, this means that the company's engineers adjusted the color profiles to their liking and considered this ideal. Screen resolution 1920x1080 pixels, 401 ppi with a diagonal of 5.5 inches. Of course, this is not a QHD screen on which you cannot see the pattern of the picture and individual dots, here they are almost invisible, but still sometimes you see the picture a little rough. But for its class of devices this is an excellent screen, in which one can only complain about insufficient brightness when shooting with the camera; the picture looks dark and dull. In all other cases, especially indoors, there is nothing to complain about, everything works plus/minus well.

From the menu you can change the screen color scheme to sRGB or DCI-P3, the second one seemed to me much more interesting than the default one. Custom colors are a simple adjustment of color temperature, you shouldn’t play with it, although everyone decides for themselves.

Another feature of the screen is the display of information from applications the moment you move your hand over the screen. All notifications are shown on a black background, which is convenient.

In the sun, the screen remains readable, there are no special problems here (in camera mode, I repeat, the screen is very dim).

Among the additional settings, I will note the presence of a reading mode (you can add applications for which it will work), as well as a night mode (work according to a schedule or automatically, this is a blue filter).

Battery

Since OnePlus uses all the developments of the parent company OPPO, this device has fast charging called DASH, this is a complete analogue of VOOC technology from OPPO. Charging 4A, 5V and allows you to charge a Li-Pol battery in 65-70 minutes. In fifteen minutes you get about 30 percent battery charge, which is very convenient. Phones without fast charging have become an anachronism for me; too much time is wasted on unnecessary waiting.

The battery capacity is 3300 mAh, which makes you think that the smartphone does not last very long. But that's not true. In practice, the smartphone easily works for two days under normal load, in particular, up to 5-6 hours of screen operation (here it all depends on the brightness of the display, as you understand). For me, this operating time is excellent and makes the model stand out among its classmates; I have to thank the AMOLED screen for this.

The total video playback time at maximum brightness is about 17 hours.

Communication capabilities

Bluetooth version 5.0, there is NFC support (OnePlus 3 did not have it). Supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band. Unlike the same OnePlus 3, there are no problems with WiFi, everything works perfectly.

A few words about hardware GPS, it works well, there are no complaints about it. In any case, in conjunction with A-GPS, the device quickly becomes attached to the area and, when using Google Maps, leads well along the route.

LTE frequencies are written at the very beginning, here I would like to add that support for Cat.6 is announced. Frequency aggregation does not work for Cat.6, at least in Russia. If you don't know what it is, then it probably shouldn't bother you.

Memory, RAM, chipset, performance

The device is available in two versions - 6/64 GB and 8/128 GB; we tested the device with the maximum characteristics. Considering that there is a Snapdragon 835 inside, this chipset is one of the most productive, and complementing it with fast memory, the manufacturer received maximum performance in all tasks. Moreover, both the parrots in synthetic tests and the real performance of this solution are excellent, look at the test results. The main question is whether 128 GB of internal memory is enough for you (64 GB is an option), but I think everyone is looking for the answer to it themselves, since everyone has different scenarios for using smartphones.

Camera

The front camera in this device is 16-megapixel (f/2.0, EIS, Auto HDR, 1080p), the Sony IMX 371 module is used, the image quality is excellent for this type of camera. There are various facial enhancements, which is important for girls.

The main camera is dual, consisting of a Sony IMX 398 module (f/1.7, EIS, 16 megapixels), as well as a Sony IMX 350 (f/2.6, 20 megapixels). One lens is wide-angle, the second gives an optical zoom of x1.6. Look at paired photographs, each taken with the same lens. Please note that zooming works worse in the evening, noise appears in the photo, the reason is that the 20-megapixel matrix does not have such a fast lens (f/2.6 versus f/1.7).

Also, the dual camera system can be used to blur the background, the algorithm works well, but you can see it for yourself.

The camera interface is simple, there is a manual setting (Pro mode), the ability to display a histogram, save images in RAW, and the like.

When shooting video, you can choose FullHD resolution with an option of 30 or 60 frames per second, for 4K it is only 30 frames per second. The device records sound well thanks to a three-microphone system.

Look at the sample photos in comparison with Nokia 8, Samsung Galaxy S8+, I think they will show you that OnePlus does a good job with photography, the quality of photos is often comparable to S8+, although in the dark they are noisier, as well as in dimly lit rooms.

The OnePlus 5's camera capabilities will be enough for most casual users, but it will also satisfy those who love photography. In my opinion, the camera is on par with the best models from Huawei, but Samsung falls a little short of that, and only in some modes. This is a very, very decent level, so the OnePlus 5 is worth paying attention to in terms of photographic capabilities.

Software

Despite the fact that it runs Android 7.1.1, it uses its own Oxygen OS shell, which differs minimally from regular Android, although it has its own developments.

Play Music is used to play music. There is Dirac HD Sound - this is special software that analyzes and corrects the “color” of the sound. The sound settings include a 7-band equalizer from 68 Hz to 14 kHz. There are also headphone presets there.

The sound in the headphones is simple, there is nothing outstanding here. There is a private gallery for viewing photos, which is nice.

The recorder is simple, but does its job perfectly.

The file manager also does not cause any difficulties, everything is simple and clear.

There is nothing to describe in terms of software here, everything is extremely simple and clear.

Impression

The speaker volume is always sufficient, the device can be heard. There are no particular complaints about the quality of speech transmission; the noise reduction system works well (there are three microphones).

In Russia, official OnePlus 5 are sold for 40 and 45 thousand rubles in official retail, this is the price for the younger and older versions. Resellers' prices are noticeably lower, they amount to approximately 30 and 35 thousand rubles. But here everyone chooses the presence of a guarantee or its absence, how attractive each option looks.

Compared to the previous OnePlus 3/3T, the design has changed, although the body materials and design remain the same; the screen itself has not changed, although more settings have appeared for it. In my opinion, with the OnePlus 3T priced at 26 and 30 thousand rubles on the gray market, this is not the most interesting offer and it’s not worth saving here; the new model turned out to be noticeably better and more powerful.

On the other hand, for this money there are many offers on the market, let's start with the same Samsung Galaxy S7 EDGE, which costs 30 thousand rubles on the gray market (42-43 thousand in the PCT version). The devices are of different levels in terms of the perception of brands, some advantages are on the side of the S7 EDGE - higher screen resolution, support for Gear VR, water protection, wireless charging, better screen implementation and slightly worse performance. Excellent, albeit single camera. There's a lot to think about here, and it's not a given that you'll choose the OnePlus 5.

The higher quality Chinese smartphones become, the more expensive they sell. In terms of originality and unusualness, I see Meizu Pro 7 as an alternative to OnePlus 5, which also has a dual camera, but also has a second display on the back. A very original device, but the price of 40 and 45 thousand rubles, of course, looks at the level of OnePlus 5 and does not provide any special advantages. Read the first look at this device to understand how interesting it is to you or not.

The list of different competitors of OnePlus 5 can be endless, I have noted only a few. Here someone may be tempted by the fact that there is a 3.5 mm jack, but the sound is not so great, the same Meizu is head and shoulders above with its dedicated DSP for sound. You have to look in detail at what exactly you need from the device, but we can say that OnePlus 5 is successful. Sales of this model in Russia are quite sluggish, both in official deliveries and on the gray market - this is not a mass audience, the product is not for everyone. But the smartphone turned out to be successful and we must give it credit for this.
