How to completely remove "CryptoPro CSP". Instructions for updating the CryptoPro CSP version

When a user installs an application, he cannot know for how long he will need it. And when a program becomes useless, it is better to delete it, thereby freeing up disk space for installing other software. This article will discuss how to completely remove CryptoPro CSP. There will be three ways to complete this task.

Method 1: standard OS tools

We’ll start with how to completely remove “CryptoPro” using the standard method, which does not involve the use of additional software; on the contrary, all actions will be performed in the standard “Programs and Features” program.

  1. From the Start menu, open the Control Panel window.
  2. In the list of all utilities that appears, click on “Programs and Features.”
  3. In the list of all software installed on your computer that appears, find “CryptoPro” and highlight it.
  4. On the top panel, click the “Delete” button.

After this, the uninstaller window will launch, following the instructions of which you can remove the unnecessary program without any problems.

Method 2: using an uninstall file

If for some reason the previous uninstallation method did not suit you or you simply encountered some difficulties in performing it, then you can use the second method, which involves using the program’s uninstallation file located in its root directory.

  1. Right-click on the "CryptoPro" shortcut.
  2. From the menu that appears, select File Location.
  3. The File Explorer window will open. In it you need to find the uninstallation file. Most often it is called unins000 or uninstall.
  4. Run this file by double clicking.

As in the previous method, after completing these steps the uninstaller window will appear. It will tell you in detail how to completely remove CryptoPro.

Method 3: using another program

If the application is not removed through the system utility, and you did not find an uninstallation file in its directory, then it is best to resort to the help of third-party software, the main task of which is to remove other software from the computer. We will consider the Revo Uninstaller program.

  1. Download the program from the official website and install it on your computer.
  2. Launch the application.
  3. Go to the "Uninstaller" tab.
  4. In the list of programs that appears, find “CryptoPro” and right-click on it.
  5. In the menu that appears, select “Delete”.
  6. A window will appear in which you need to select the deletion mode. For a complete cleanup, you must select "Advanced".
  7. Wait until the process of deleting the main program files is completed.
  8. After this, the process will start scanning your PC for additional files.
  9. After its completion, give your consent to the removal of the rest of the “garbage” remaining from the work of CryptoPro.

This was the third way to completely clear your computer of unnecessary applications. As you can see, there are many ways to do this, and it’s up to you to decide which one to use.

Good afternoon!. We continue our study of programs for working with electronic digital keys (EDC). Last time I told you in detail “How to install a certificate in the registry with CryptoPRO” and “How to transfer CryptoPro certificates to another computer”, the topic turned out to be in demand today, I would like to highlight the question of how to implement complete removal of CryptoPRO so that there are no traces or tails left of the program, let’s consider why, you may need it and in what situations.

Reasons for deleting CryptoPRO

Let's look at situations when you will need to uninstall this software product:

  • Very often in my practice I saw a situation where, on different operating systems, the ability to install or uninstall programs mysteriously stopped working, and various errors popped up, for example, “Windows installer service could not be accessed” or error 0x80070422. The list is large, but it all boiled down to the fact that CryptoPRO was installed on the system, most often an old version, and removing it corrected the situation. This method can be called emergency removal of CryptoPRO CSP).
  • Removing CryptoPRO may be necessary in the case when you no longer want to use it, for any reason, and you would like to completely clear your computer of it so as not to clutter the system with unnecessary programs.
  • You are switching to another digital signature product

Complete removal of cryptopro with cleaning of the registry and traces in the system

Now that we have figured out the reasons, we are moving from theory to practice. As I wrote in the title of the article, the process itself will not take much time and can be completed in 1-2 minutes if you have all the preparatory steps and a set of utilities.

What will be in our arsenal for cleaning traces from CryptoPRO CSP:

  • The built-in console of the Windows Control Panel "Programs and Features", through which we will remove the utility itself.
  • Ccleaner and Privazer utility for cleaning the Windows registry
  • Utility for clearing installation traces of CryptoPro CSP from CryptoPRO itself

To remove CryptoPRO CSP completely from your computer, open “Programs and Features”, this item is located in the Windows Control Panel. You can quickly get into it by pressing the WIN and R keys simultaneously, thereby calling up the Execute window, entering the abbreviated name of this equipment in it:

We find CryptoPRO CSP in the list of installed programs, I have version 4.0.9842, and select “Delete”.

Check the box "Don't show this dialog box again" and click Yes.

The process of removing the CryptoPRO program from your computer will begin. At the end of which you will be notified that a system reboot is required,

We send your Windows 10 or whatever you have for reboot.

Be careful and save all your data in advance, as the reboot will happen immediately

Next, we continue to remove CryptoPRO completely and without any residue; for this we will use the Ccleaner utility. Open it, leave the “Cleaning” mode and press the “Cleaning” button, check the box in the “System” item like mine.

The utility will work and delete the remaining files from CryptoPRO CSP that it can reach. Next, go to the “Register” item.

Click the "Search for problems" button, this will help us find the remaining hives in the Windows registry related to CryptoPRO.

A search will be performed and the results will be presented, what can be corrected and deleted, click “Fix selected”.

Click the "Fix marked" button, as soon as Ccleaner deletes everything, repeat the search until everything is clean, this will allow you to completely remove CryptoPRO CSP and clean the registry.

Well, all that remains is to go through a special utility from the developers. You can download it from the link below, the only thing you need is registration.

Run the cspclean.exe utility (CryptoPro CSP Emergency Removal). A command line window will open in which you will be asked to completely remove CryptoPRO in Windows 10, we agree with this and click yes.

The cspclean.exe utility will begin to clean up all traces of this utility, after which it will simply close without displaying any message.

If you think that the removal of CryptoPRO is complete, then there is still one step left, polishing, so to speak. We still have an installation cache of this utility. To find it, you need to enable Windows hidden folders and go to the folder:

C:\ProgramData\CryptoPRO
